Sometimes it’s not obvious self harm and posting that you’re sad.

Sometimes it’s not crying to your friends and never going out.

Sometimes it’s not just isolating yourself and leaving notes.

Sometimes it’s crying in a stairwell while everyone is sleeping so no one will hear.

Sometimes it’s not posting a picture because you’re afraid people will see the bags sinking deeper into your face.

Sometimes it’s jam packing your days with everyone else’s problems, so that you never have to talk about yours.

Those sometimes... usually feel very lonely. You don’t want to be a burden and you’re sure your friends are tired of the same old issues, so you don’t reach out. You don’t cry in front of people because you’re tired of being told that you’re solely crying to play a victim or for attention. You don’t isolate but even when you’re out, you’re not truly there mentally. You try to put on the best mask you’ve ever seen so that your friends continue to have a good time. And yet, no matter how long you fake that smile, it never stays.

I know I’m supposed to end this with a, “YOU CAN GET THROUGH IT” but honestly, hearing that doesn’t really help or change anything. What I will say is, I hope that anyone feeling like this, will eventually find the way out of this trench. Good luck to everyone who deals with it and thank you, Jenna.
