He wondered why she chose to keep it secret actually, if it was indeed magic. After all there was no safer place- at least not in this country- to be honest about who you were. That was why Perry had come here to start his agency. Something about being on the cheer time, maybe? General young person anxiety about blending in? Just very private? He couldn’t really blame her no matter what the reason.

And there was a reason, Perry became more and more certain she was hiding something by the second. Most people weren’t great liars, especially not under pressure, especially not when they were talking to an ex cop. “Impressive leap nonetheless, maybe next time just make sure the area is clear.”

This was not exactly a smooth recovery but it was decent right? He wasn’t pressing any further really so that was good or whatever. “Oh, thanks. I’m not usually a tumbler, more of a top of the pyramid, flyer, base etc. So I guess I just am a little amped up and out of practice. Totally should’ve looked.” She chuckled slightly.

Again laughing as the redhead rambled Melody ran her hand through her hair and fiddled with her ponytail pulling it out and back up as if she could make it better than the sweaty mess it was. “I mean yeah, I can play both piano and the violin but that was more them shoving me into lessons then me choosing so.” Melody didn’t mind and the more she learned about her mermaid past she learned why they had pushed it so hard. “But now I want to know what this whole saying is!”

“Yeah actually just into Castle Suites not so long ago.”

Kim could appreciate people who could do music. She was good at a lot of things, it was sort of proven, but instruments? Not so much. She could sing kind of well, she supposed (in the shower where no one could hear her). “Oh that’s totally awesome. I mean, not the shoving into lessons bit but the knowing how to play bit. I’m not exactly musically inclined.” She smiled, tilting her head and looking down a little embarassed by her whole family saying right now. It was a little ridiculous. “Well, my dad always says: Anything’s possible for a Possible.”  

“Ah, off campus life. I’m in the dorms, myself. Student life. Cheerleading practice. Easy access to libraries and student lounges.” She listed off all the points to her living in the dorms and not finding her own apartment. Although, she totally could find her own apartment too like an adult and whatever.  “But that’s cool. I hope you’re finding your way around okay. I mean, its a small town but sometimes even I get turned around and I’ve been here close to two years.”

“That sounds like a good plan.” Melody mused with a laugh and for once since being in this town she felt comfortable. Not like she was trying to be someone she wasn’t. Trying to look all cool and sauve.

Either way it wasn’t hard to take the girl’s hand and offer a smile. “I’m Melody, Mel is fine too. Either or honestly.”

Kim actually felt like she could relax a little around this girl. Like she was super pretty but didn’t act like she totally knew it you know? She definitely wasn’t a Bonnie, that’s for sure. She grinned, “Nice to meet you, Melody.” She shook the hand before releasing it, “So, with a name like that, your parents kind of gave you something to live up to. Are you musical at all or is it like an ironic thing? I mean, irony is totally cool and everything too. I mean, my last name is Possible and it’s a long story but there’s a whole saying that goes with it and--I’m rambling again.” She stopped herself and chuckled a bit nervously. “Promise I’m not like this all the time.”

She paused for a beat, tucking her hair behind her ear, “Did you just move here? I haven’t seen you around?”

Magick? Could be. Some sort of strength or muscle enhancement. Or just a stupid, strong cheerleader. Clearly trying to play it cool either way, and Perry wasn’t one to out people. It was very gauche. Magic or identity, he just didn’t do it. (Could remember the day he’d had to resign from the force, walked back into the office after being on the run for so long, the way one of his old mates had laughed and said you cursed now or what and he just… Hadn’t known how to respond. Because yes, he was, but it wasn’t funny. It wasn’t a joke. No one spoke to him on his way out.)

“Right… Good.” He nodded, pushing some hair off of his forehead, “yeah, well- random energy surges can happen, specially if your cool down is a little fast, or… Something.” He shrugged, “been a long time since I had to study any of that.” He gestured vaguely to her back, “probably wanna ice that, just in-case.”

Kim pretended to stretch her back and rub it even though it didn’t hurt in the slightest from her fall. It was all part of the cover with strangers (even though most of the town was Magick, it didn’t mean she was just going to blab to everyone about her abilities). 

“Yeah, definitely going to ice it. I’ll be sore tomorrow.” She probably didn’t do a good job of acting like she was going to do that. She wasn’t great at lying on the fly. Covers? Sure. Alibis established. Fine. But random talking about how she just flew through the whole air? Not exactly her thing.

Laughing slightly Melody didn’t mean to laugh well at the girl but more along the lines of with. She was a sweetheart, or at least Melody thought she was a sweetheart and that was sticking with her until the redhead proved her wrong.

“I’m sure it’s not that bad. Who else can you run into if you don’t let yourself run into friends and let them help you up and what not.” Melody offered giving her a way out from the rambling they were both doing. 

“I’m sure you’re not dangerous.”

Kim crossed her arms overherself and just grinned a bit bashfully at the girl who was laughing at the way she was fumbling over her words. She wasn’t exactly the smoothest of people. Sure, taking people down that was great. Talking to attractive people? So not her thing.

“We’ll you’re totally right on that front.” She tucked a piece of hair behind her ear with a smile. “Guess if we’re going to be friends I should introduce myself then.” She stuck out a hand, “I’m Kim.”

Perry wasn’t as diligently on top of his fitness as he had been when he was on the force, but still tried to keep healthy not just for the physical benefits but because sometimes a work out was the only thing not work related that would get him out of the house. Usually he went to the gym about once a week but today he’d woken up with a headache, seen the nice weather, and decided a brisk run would be better for him.

He’d been through town rather than the forest and was cutting through the Pride U grounds, that was when he saw the fantastic tumble, body launching into equipment in way that should’ve been a bit painful. She was a young woman- muscular, but slight, Perry wasn’t sure if it was technically possible for her to have thrown herself with such power. (Didn’t exactly have the equipment to figure it out.) But she certainly shouldn’t have hopped back up with such ease. He slowed and approached her, “you alright? Impressive tumbling, bet it would’ve been quite the leap without this stuff in the way.”

No one seemed to claim the bag so she picked herself up like no one saw, pushing down the oncoming blush at how reckless she’d been in putting that much power into her push off. 

Her head snapped up as she heard the voice and she quirked a brow at the glangly looking guy coming towards her. “Yeah, no big. I’ve definitely done worse. Good thing that bag broke my fall.” She made it seem like it had actually left a bruise or something by making a wincing face and arching her back. “Don’t know where all that energy came from.” Stranger danger, after all. couldn’t be too careful about people coming up to her about her power all curious and stuff.

Melody winced gently though she walked closure to hold a hand out for the girl if she wanted to take it. “besides maybe a waterbottle I don’t think I have anything really breakable in there.” Melody offered with a small shrug. Win to her for being lazy enough to barely throw anything into her bag this afternoon.

“Well if you did we would have just had to become friends because knocking over a friend is never as bad as knocking over a stranger.”

“Oh well, that’s good.” The redhead chuckled nervously, scratching the back of her head and looking at the stranger. “Yeah, that’s pretty true. I’ve knocked over a friend or two plenty of times.” Nope. That wasn’t what she should have said. “I mean--I... well, my friends just--” She felt her cheeks color. “I don’t purposely like knock over my friends and I’m normally not flying into them or anything. I’ve just done it before?” She sighed out, not knowing how to dig herself out of this hole. “This is all just making me sound very dangerous to be around.” Which was kind of true, given her past and current powers.

Jake was working out on the field, because fuck it was a nice day and he was gonna take full advantage of the fact that there was one day this week that wasn’t cloudy and grey and England. He was nicely sweaty and it just felt great. Technically he didn’t go to PrideU – yet – but he figured this was a good way to get to know campus. Plus the field was just great, ya know?

He was all the way on the other side of the field, when he felt his Dragon senses tingle (haha, like Spidey senses, get it? No, don’t laugh, Jake is very upset about the end of Infinity War). Jake jerked his head around and saw a redheaded girl practically FLY into his gym bag.

“Yo!” he called out. “That was some sick air!” 

He jogged over to the girl, holding out a hand to help her out. 

“Don’t worry about my gym stuff, it’s all dirty clothes and shit.” He wrinkled his nose. “TBH, I should probably do my laundry but I’m just lazy. Sorry that was TMI!” He grinned. “I’m Jake by the way. I don’t think we’ve met before – I’m starting in the fall.”

Kim wrinkled her nose a little bit at the in fact, very dirty clothes bag she was currently sitting in. Gross. It smelled like boy sweat which was like the equivalent of wet dog and wet yak combined into a pungent odor that you couldn’t get out of your nose. She quickly lifted herself out of the bag and laughed off his compliment on how high she got. To be honest, that wasn’t the half of it.

“Guess I just kind of overdid it. I have those moments sometimes. Get kind of amped you know?” She brushed strands of red hair from her eyes and back into her ponytail as she looked at this new kid. “Kim. Nice to meet you Jake. And glad to welcome you to Pride U. Only fitting that a cheerleader would, huh.”

If there was anything that got Melody out of her head it was the ability to go for a run with her headphones blasting as loud as they could and with weather finally turning into spring weather she was all for it and she didn’t really know where else to run in Sywnlake but PrideU’s track and no one really had to know if she was in the school or not did they? 

Would anyone even know? She hoped not.

On her last lap Melody had been moving to grab her bag and head out when she spotted red from the corner of her eye only having enough time to jump back and yank out her headphones to hear her not even really processing what had happened.

“Uh- I mean no harm? But you landed hard? Are you alright?”

Kim squinted up at the girl. Wow, she was pretty. She was currently sitting in a pretty girl’s gym bag. This was embarrassing. At least she wasn’t mad. She hoped she didn’t almost knock her out, usually she could see who was coming a bit better.

“Yeah, no I’m fine, I can take a pretty big hit. I hope I didn’t crush anything. I don’t normally not stick my landing. Just kinda put too much force in it today.” She rubbed the back of her neck and got up, “Glad I didn’t hit you, you seemed pretty close and I don’t know what I’d really do with myself if that happened.” She chuckled slightly.

So, Mary wasn’t the sporty type. She wasn’t unhealthy or anything, though she does eat out a bit, she just didn’t care for sports activities. She preferred not to join extracurricular activities that involved being physical for fun, she was more of an art and design person anyways. So, it was surprising to see her walking across the school field, but she wasn’t doing it because she wanted to be there, it just seemed like a good shortcut.

She was just trying to get home after a long day of classes. She honestly couldn’t wait til summer break started, she liked Pride University but toward the end of the school year, things began to get boring. She was crossing at the edge of the field when a cheerleader practising ran into someone else’s equipment. “It’s alright, whoever they belong to must not really care much for it to just leave their stuff there.”

Huh, that was weird. Probably some person running laps around the track or something. She quickly got to her feet, shaking off the weird tingly feeling of both embarrassment, surprise and if she were normal, soreness or a bruise but really it was like a dull feeling (mostly due to the fact that she’d flipped so fast her momentum sent her hurtling into the equipment). 

“Yeah, guess not.” Kim rubbed the back of her neck, trying not to blush and if she did blush she hoped it just looked like she’d been practicing really hard or something. “So you saw all that, huh. Guess I pushed off a little too hard on my back hand spring.”

Summer Pride U Cheer practice was starting, which meant long days in the hot sun, sweating your ass off. Of course, Kim Possible had endurance for days, but that didn’t mean she didn’t work as hard, if not more than everyone else to make it look like she was really putting effort into workouts and routines with the other girls while also not putting in too much effort and totally throwing her body around (and those she was throwing or spotting for) in superhuman ways.

The few hours of practice flew by and as everyone was picking up their things and leaving. Kim, of course, decided to get just a couple more stunting and tumbling runs in. She executed the steps leading into the tumbling and immediately threw her body into the back handspring, back tuck and then--did not stick the landing. She’d misjudged the end of the field distance with the amount of force she kicked off with on her last back tuck, hurtling into someone’s gym equipment at the edge of the field and immediately looking around, “Whoops, sorry, totally my bad!”

It was weird, living in town. Of course, it would be more beneficial for Fawn to live in town, what with her job and all. However, Pixie Hollow was her home and her world. Yes, she was still keeping her house there and would still occupy it every once in awhile; Yet the brunette knows that this would be a smart idea. Unfortunately, the young fairy began to second guess that as she tried to carried two rather big and slightly heavy boxes to her new apartment. She’d been about to reach for some pixie dust in her pouch in her back pocket when all of the sudden, the boxes were soon shaking at the sudden movement. “Oh shit oh shit oh shit- help!”

Kim had been on a run through town, just getting started, when she heard a voice call out for help. She looked to her left and saw woman wobbling under the weight of some boxes. Easy enough, right?

She ran over and put her hands under the woman’s to stabilize the boxes, “I got it. No big. I can carry these if you want.” She looked around the boxes and gave the woman a smile. Super strength kind of made her perfect for the job and you know, she was always up for helping.

Well, Kiara didn’t know. She had never been a real life hero solving real life problems. She knew nothing about international relations besides thinking, maybe kind of, Simba had some experience with it since InterPride was a global company. Though she also had a feeling that dealing with businesses overseas was way different than governments and that kind of stuff.

It was all stuff that sounded– boring. And Kiara was surprised that someone like Kim, who wasn’t just cool, but who had, like, magic, wanted to do something like that.

It surprised her that Kim was in school at all. Why didn’t she just want to… continue to kick ass?

“Oh, uh– yeah, I see that,” lied Kiara, but she lied jovially, smiling and everything. “Though if I were you I’d probably skip school altogether and just– save the world. The pay’s gotta be pretty good, right?” she joked.

Kim quirked a brow at the girl. It wasn’t as if she hadn’t heard that back in Middleton. People questioning why she even went through with school. Why she’d involved herself so tightly. And maybe it was just because although she enjoyed the work she did, she still wanted to have an average life too. Honestly, she should’ve gone about the whole secret identity thing for it but it was too late for that.

School was something she could do for herself instead of saving everyone else’s day. She shrugged, “Back in high school I skipped a couple days, sure. Crime didn’t exactly wait for a weekend. But traveling around and saving the day just kind of makes you feel isolated.” She brushed a few loose strands back, “Constantly on the go, what friendships and relationships can you really make? Hardly had time to have dinner with my family and I was living with them. Everyone wants something from you in whatever time zone you’re in or they’re in.”

She sighed with a small smile, “Maybe one day I’ll get back into it but for now my vacation from it is school--weird as that sounds, I know.” She chuckled slightly and crossed her arms as they walked.

Kiara blushed a bit at that Kim Possible thing because whoops, she wondered if she had accidentally, uh, fetishized or…eroticized or…appropriated? Kim because of her magic. Kiara wasn’t that good about those tricky things. She, like most intrepid Gen Z’s, was dedicated to the fight for social justice, and she’d smack down any bigot she saw honestly and she wasn’t afraid to call ‘em out. She did it enough at secondary, especially since she was, y’know a Magick Ally– all her friends had powers.

But to Kiara, all her friends really were superheroes too. That could be problematic of her. She wondered if people would think she only hung out with them because of the magic. That wasn’t true though, it wasn’t, she didn’t want to like, idolize or idealize or…

Anyway.

She was blushing, but she nodded and smiled. “Er, right! I’ll take a Kim Possible,” she said. “Er, we were gonna meet at the library, so I guess that’s this way?” she said and pointed toward the library. She backed up a few steps. “Sooooo uh– what does a– Kim Possible study?”

Kim just grinned at the girl. She could see why she and Callie were together. They were both so energetic and excitable over things. Kiara fumbled a little bit more than Callie with conversation, but they both launched headfirst into whatever topic they wanted to talk about with like a total reckless abandon. 

“That would be the way, yeah.” Kim nodded as she moved forward as Kiara backed up a little bit, starting to head towards the library, keeping pace with Kiara as she wasn’t in a hurry of course, but she didn’t know the exact time Kiara was meeting Callie so she let her dictate their path.

“International Relations, with a focus in Magick-Mundus conflict.” She shrugged like it was no big (because that’s what it really was to her. “Being the least science oriented person in my family--I come from a family of doctors and kid geniuses--and kind of dabbling with foreign affairs type things back in the States. I decided I kind of had a knack for you know, negotiations and like dealing with people and whatever, you know?”

Oh– oh, Kim did know Callie. Kiara perked up a bit, her smile breaking open a little wider. Not for any particular reason really, just because…well, it was funny, wasn’t it? A bit? It reminded her just how small Swynlake was. Kiara could fall off the roof and be scooped up by a ginger superstar, and then her ginger superstar could meet her girlfriend on campus, and become mates too, all while never realizing the intrinsic links that bound them altogether.

She wondered for a second…would Callie have eventually met Alice in a similiar way? Maybe if Kiara had never been honest or… maybe if she hadn’t even wanted Alice at all, but then down the road, Alice and Callie could have met. Maybe on campus or at one of Alice’s jobs or just on the street.

Swynlake: the town of happy little accidents. No one knew that better than accident-pront (accident-seeking?) Kiara Lyons.

But anyway, that was all kinda moony and silly and probably not what Kim was interested in, though, uh, Kiara had no idea what she was interested in or even why she was still talking to Kiara–

She was glad she was though.

“Oh! Well– that’s great, yeah,” Kiara giggled. “I mean, you knowin’ Callie, not the rambling bit. Though that’s great too cuz I do it, so– least I’m not the only one. You might even be better at it than me.” She nodded, bouncing on her toes a bit. “But uh– yeah! I mean, you can uh, come say hi if you want?  I’m a bit early anyway so you could keep me…company in the meantime?” She scrunched her nose a little. “Do uh, superheroes do that?”

Such a weird small town. Middleton had been sort of small, but there was always Upperton and Lowerton that kept things kind of new with new people flooding in and out of the towns. She had her clique of course. Her and Ron and Monique and a few others but it was always cool meeting people who you’d never thought to run into and then run into them all over again at the mall or something.

Kim smiled at the younger girl, she was glad she wasn’t the only rambling fool in Callie’s life. Made her feel a little better about the rants she could tend to go on. She was honestly, truly, happy for the both of them. They were both so vibrant and full of life and they got these smiles on their faces whenever they talked about each other. (Because of course she’d heard of a Kiara and a girlfriend from Callie but she didn’t know this girl’s name until now). 

“I dunno, you’ll have to ask a superhero.” Kim said a bit jokingly but also kind of serious, she didn’t think she was a superhero by any means. She was just doing something nice for others and you know, herself too. “But, Kim Possible, yeah, she’d totally keep you company.”
