Summary:
Tal’iel was not born; she was made. Forged by the Mother as her blade, she exists as a Sentinel to uphold the balance of the universe and carry out the Mother's will. When she is assigned to guard a young witch named Sarah Alder, it is meant to be another duty carried out from the shadows. Through Sarah, witchkind will be propelled into a new era, and Tal’iel will ensure she survives long enough to fulfill that fate.
For decades, Tal’iel watches, protects, and guides without ever being seen. Until she breaks the one rule that matters. She chooses love over the balance she was created to protect, turning her back on the very purpose that defines her.
The consequences are devastating. Torn away by the Mother and stripped from Sarah’s life, Tal’iel loses the only thing she has ever chosen for herself. Centuries later, as a new threat rises that endangers both witchkind and the Mycelium itself, she makes a choice that will cost her everything.
