Kudos to you!! First and foremost, thank you for making this blog. It was a great resource page when it came to APUSH reviews. How was the transition to college after hs graduation? and are you living on campus?

No problem! It was a great help for my own studies, if you can explain a concept to others that pretty much means you've got it down, so I'm really glad it helped :D

I was a little scared at first because I've never really been good at making friends?? And that was pretty much my main fear. But really all the other freshmen are in the same boat as you! You're all awkward and clumsy and don't quite know where everything on campus is yet and trying a little harder to make a good first impression, and that's totally okay. During that first week before classes actually start, make sure you go out and participate in events, and talk to people! 

I've been telling myself this every year, but that's because it continues to ring true: don't procrastinate.

There's a lot of responsibility, having more control over your schedule, so there are plenty more opportunities to put things off. And mom and dad won't be there to whoop you back into working.

Don't overwhelm yourself, take things a step at a time, don't forget to relax!Conversely, you are a student before you are an athlete or a committee member or an employee or a party animal. Not to say that you can't be all of those things, but you are paying money to learn things. Js.

I am living on-campus right now and it's really convenient and fun being around people and so close to lecture halls :) I do plan on living on-campus again next year, but living off-campus doesn't sound too bad either.

Hello from UCSD!

So I've made it to college~

I am currently a first year (technically I have sophomore status because of all those AP credits wooooooooooo) Literatures in English major with a pending Education Studies minor (good combo if I plan to teach right??) at University of California, San Diego!

I'm a Triton now :D

You guys can ask me questions about anything really, from standardized testing and my college app experience to my college experience thus far!

I don't think I plan on posting any new material anytime soon, what with college and life and work in the way ):

January means FAFSA! Get on that like seriously I am not even kidding don't even think about putting it off 

Also just a side note (probably continue reading under the cut), I'm a little (actually reaaaaaallly) glad I didn't take AP Lang in high school...for a number of reasons.

Well for one, I don't think I could have handled the work. It probably would have overwhelmed me during my junior year of high school (I was also taking APUSH, AP Spanish Lang, Physiology Honors, in choir, and on the volleyball team phew I would have burnt out faster than I already did geez).

And more importantly, right now as an undergraduate student taking mandatory general education writing courses, most of my peers who have taken AP Lang in high school find themselves completely relearning how to write good papers. 

Idk just in high school the teaching regarding writing focuses so much on vomiting a paper that throws all your thoughts together as fast as possible. And that doesn't really show you how to write well.

Just my opinion. Don't get discouraged, it's a learning process!

Okay everyone, school's back in session and all you AP students are in for quite the year!

I'm really sorry if i haven't been posting any real AP material, it's just...

...well I'm in college now (got into UCSD! :D) and I've left all my AP stuff at home and/or sold it...

I'll definitely try to find an underclassman (pfft underclassmen :P) to take over this blog while I'm busy being cool and stressed and poor in college haha

The UC's Personified as Brothers

Note: My friend and I wondered what the UC's (University of California) would be like in real life. This is the result.

Berkeley: The eldest. Very "hip" and beatnik. Wears thrift store clothes, listens to vinyls and can quote anyone from Ginsberg to Vonnegut. Always carries a camera and hides his science books from his friends.

Davis: Has so-so hygiene habits, mostly from riding bikes all the time. Is very hard working and loves to garden.

Santa Barbara: Very laid back and chill. Surfs a lot and has a relaxed vibe all the time. Can throw a hell of a party.

Los Angeles: Studies way too much. Always has his nose in a book and can come off as very intimidating. Hates Santa Cruz's hygiene habits.

Riverside: The often forgotten, but very accepting brother. Everyone avoids him for his looks, but he is fairly intelligent and nice.

San Diego: The "coolest" of the nerds. Wears glasses and has a calculator in his pocket, but he pulls it off. At night he's a party animal among his fellow hip-geeks.

Irvine: Nobody really sees him much. He hangs out in the background a lot which causes his achievements to often go unnoticed (though he can sometimes be smarter than his older brothers).

Santa Cruz: Into free love and long hair. Never wears shoes and is willing to accept anyone. Thinks LA is uptight.

Merced: The runt little brother that everyone forgets about.
