If you bring someone new to a partner dance-y event – a date, a friend, i don’t care – you teach them both roles. you make sure they aren’t feeling pressured to learn just one specific role. you make sure they realize that they have options: they can learn either role, or they can learn both....

Bitter Former College Club Organizers

Older Lindy hoppers need to stop hating on college dancers and dance clubs.

Who gives a shit if college students don’t dance as much as you do? Who cares if college dance clubs are very organized in how they approach getting their members involved in the greater scene? What difference does it make to you?

When I hear older people (particularly men) talk shit about college aged Lindy hoppers, all I can picture is some creepy ass adult stealing candy from a child.

Actually, a good portion of us used to run a swing dance club and are annoyed with the state of affairs of our alma matar mucking things up. When people from my former college do things like compromising the quality of music for a theoretical gain of making "easier to attract" new people. Or organizing workshops that conflict with large national events a few hours away I will publically call them out on it.
