This wiki is dedicated to the history and fashion of mori kei, also known as mori girl. This style is a whimsical and natural fashion originating in Japan. The community exists worldwide, and is welcoming of all gender identities, races, nationalities, sizes, and shapes who wish to express themselves through this charming fashion and lifestyle. This wiki is brand new and much work still needs to be done! Please check the editing tabs to see how you can help! Add a photo to this gallery
So I’ve been messing around with a project for a while. I’ve soft shared it on the mori kei discord, but I feel confident enough to share it here publicly now. Basically, I’ve created a mori wiki! Here are the things that the wiki has or that I’m working on/want to include eventually:
archived information on the fashion and its history in Japan and abroad
information on various substyles and similar styles to mori in Japan and abroad
information on mori media like movies, music, mori in anime and manga, and magazines
self promo pages for mori creators to share their social media and works!
archived pages of resources that are now defunct, as well as deleted blogs and creators (that can be accessed by the waybackmachine anyways, some are totally lost to us sadly)
links to various resources across the internet (like checklists or challenges, as well as advice) as well as mori groups and social media people can join to connect with others.
Everything is still a massive WIP but I have the barebones up now, and I feel like it’s okay to share. I’d love to see other mori people adding their information and expertise and promoting their content there. So feel free to jump on and edit at any time! Promo is always welcome especially on the Notable Mori People page!
Also, if you are not willing/able to edit, but would like a promo page added for your content, please let me know! I can add that for you no problem :) I’d like to see all mori folk represented here and make this a community hub for all things mori kei.
Here’s a couple of ideas:
-Something I’ve always wondered about was the deer makeup trend...I recall seeing some mori girls at the time wearing them, along with deer antlers as head accessories...Would it merit an article? Was it something that happened in the mainstream and the community took or was it the other way round?
-On the subject of theatrical makeup, maybe a shout-out to minori? Like, not ALL shironuri is mori by any means, but her particular style at the time sometimes looked kinda layered and mori-ish.
-Sort the books page not by work but by author, so works in a series can be put together and add to it the Moomin series by Tove Jansson, and the Borrowers by Mary Norton, plus the Story of Seasons videogames to the videogame section (or rather, edit the Harvest Moon entry to change it into the “Bokujou Monogatari series” and specify it’s called both in the west...it’s a complicated thing @-@)
-I’m not really into Etsy and stuff but maybe a separate section for smaller, indie brands? For people that want to self promote maybe?
-Pages on boho, cottagecore and other things that are not mori, kinda as what you wrote on your blog, in order to highlight similarities and differences.
