ORIGINS & FAMILIAL RELATIONS:
Name: Seamus MacTunnag
Nickname: Scrooge; Mr. Gold
Reason for Name: The meaning of Seamus is ‘supplanter,’ and is Gaelic in origin. The reason behind the name is quite simple: he came out, his mother took one look at him, and thought it fit. Seamus is a good name, a strong simple name, and she hoped it would fit her boy.
Birthday: 21 April 1907; 1961 (Taurus)
Age: 56 110
Gender: Male
Place of Birth: Glasgow, Scotland
Places lived since: Various areas of America; Swynlake, England
Number of siblings: Three: Eona, Moira, and Graeme
Relationship with family (close? estranged?)
Fergus MacTunnag (father): Growing up, Seamus had no other masculine presence in his life save for his father. That being said, he wasn’t a very good one. Yes, he was hardworking and yes he took relatively good care of his family, financially, when he could. But he was a drunk. He was heavy-handed. He was unapologetic for it. He hit his kids and his wife and then ran out in the streets with his mates when he was done like nothing ever happened. No one ever said a word and no one ever would. He and Seamus got along only in the way a son with a father like this could: he kept quiet, did what was asked of him and never, ever complained. [FC: Tommy Flanagan]
Davina MacTunnag ( neé MacAuley ) (mother): Seamus and his mother were very close. Not as close as she was to Eona but close enough. He was her first son and the first to give a damn about her and his sister because his father, while a provider, did not. His money went towards them, their food and clothing. When he and his siblings leave, as much as it may or may not pain them to do so, Davina had given them her blessing. Seamus never sees her again once he leaves and he knows that her grave is somewhere near their old home. He has yet to visit it. [FC: Christina Hendricks]
Eona Müller ( neé MacTunnag) (oldest sister): Eona and Seamus, as much as they loved one another, got on each other’s nerves in a grand way. She was his elder by a few years and, as such, she always thought she could boss him around. He believed that she shouldn’t be able to and, from that, came a love hate relationship that prevailed throughout their lives. She was the one to marry first, to a respectable enough man. His one downside, and the consequent cause of their fallout, was his possessiveness. Eona’s husband rarely let Seamus’s sister visit her brothers and sister or, even, have any true friends after they were married. He always suspected, though never said aloud, that it was his father all over again. They eventually reconciled, somewhat, when she was older but their relationship was never truly the same. [FC: Caitriona Balfe]
Moira Drake ( neé MacTunnag) (younger sister): Seamus was, perhaps, the closest with his younger sister, Moira. She married a rather kooky young man, after she found out she was pregnant with his child but he still loved her. And he adored her little girl. His little girl, once she was gone. Moira had always been flighty but her death still left him hopelessly sad. The abandonment of her daughter by the father was only another nail in the coffin and Seamus resolved that the girl would have a true father figure, one that neither he or her mother ever had. One she would not get with her own father. Della Drake came to be called Della MacTunnag from that moment forward and he never regretted it, not once. [FC: Abby Brothers ]
Graeme MacTunnag (youngest brother): Graeme was the quietest of the siblings, the most reserved. He was not like his brother, who was outgoing and needed to be surrounded by people to feel whole, who looked at women and merely smiled and they came running. He was not like his flighty sister or his other, more severe one. He was the odd man out and Graeme knew it. He never felt poorly about it, merely took it in stride, but the teasing he sometimes received was never something that he took kindly too. He found himself growing older without a wife, without children. But he was okay. He was happy. Seamus always loved his quirky younger brother, even when he shacked up with some bloke he’d met years later. Said they weren’t anything but friends but, well, Seamus could see it, plain as day. He didn’t like it and it took him a while to get used to the notion of it but he did. Seamus and Graeme were still close and continue to speak, even after Seamus has moved to Swynlake. His brother has grown older, just as he has, but Graeme has always said he’d never aged a day... [FC: Domnhall Gleason]
Adelaide “Della” Moira MacTunnag Drake: The daughter of his sister and a drunkard, Seamus was remiss not to take the young girl in. He was the only one who wanted her, Graeme not yet mature enough to handle raising a child and Eona and her husband wanting nothing to do with the girl. The man who’d given her life died shortly after her birth from failure of the liver. But she was his daughter in every way. He loved her like one, treated her like one. In return, he was her father. For a long while it was just the two of them, traveling and moving across the states with his job. Seamus taught her all he could, paid for in-home tutors and any other thing she could desire. When he met Allona, she needed to love Adelaide as much as he did. Though there was some initial hesitancy this came to be. The two women grew close and when she got sick it was not just Seamus who grieved. The two went on alone for years after, changed by her death. Della became a bit more reckless, a bit more like her father...and she, too, paid for that with her life. Seamus has yet to forgive himself for that. [FC: Olivia Wilde]
Allona MacTunnag ( neé Wilson ): Seamus’s “golden girl,” the woman with the sweet smile and the biting wit. They met when Seamus had cycled back around to New York city in the late 1930s. She’d been a firecracker then, an interesting woman, and they had a quick and quiet romance. Relationships like theirs weren’t permitted then, but it wasn’t a bother to them. When the war hit America in 1941 they’d only been together a year or two. They couldn’t marry, because that just wasn’t done, not then. But they wore rings. He said he was married. He kept her picture close, hidden beneath layers of clothing. They wrote to one another as often as they could. They were in love. After the war, when he was home and safe and they could live somewhere away from prying eyes, they had a few good years. He and Della traveled together and, as she got older, both of the women he loved grew close. When Allona grew sick, well, it was only the beginning. He had always known about her Magick, of course. It was never that. No, this sickness...it was a wasting one. She did not have it long, but the time it had her was a hard one. Her death hit Seamus the hardest, before Della. [FC: Ruth Negga]
Happiest memory: Running through Glasgow with his brother and sisters when they were little.
Childhood trauma: His father’s heavy-handedness.
PHYSICAL:
Height: 5′8″ (172.72 centimeters)
Weight: 149 lbs ( 67.59 kg)
Build: Average height with wiry limbs
Nationality: Scottish
Complexion (freckles, acne, skin tone, birthmarks): Seamus has freckles all over his body. Like. Literally everywhere. He’s got a few scars as well, from various fights and is time at war, however, most of the small ones are barely-there marks now.
Distinguishing facial features: Seamus has a great, quirky smile. The crooked teeth only make it more endearing.
Hair color: Dirty blonde/Light Brown
Usual hairstyle: Cut just above his suit collars, styled very little.
Eye color: Brown
Glasses? Contacts?: None
Style of dress/typical outfit(s): Nice clothing, generally. He likes to wear jumpers and jeans pretty often when he’s dressed down, or t-shirts and jeans, depending. Otherwise, he’s in relatively nice suits. Business never sleeps, after all.
Typical style of shoes: House slippers if he’s at home. Running shoes while he works out. Dress shoes any other time.
Health (is this person usually sick? or very resilient?): Seamus is rather resilient for a man who’s been shot at, stabbed multiple times, broken quite a few bones and has basically gotten into trouble his whole life. However, whenever he is sick, even with the worst of things, it clears up within a day or two. Almost like it doesn’t stick...
Grooming (does she/he wear makeup? shower daily? wear only clean clothes? pluck his/her eyebrows?): Seamus is rather particular about his grooming habits, mainly because he had very little way to do so when he was a boy. Always dirty then, Seamus hates to be so now. He showers at least thrice daily if he can and, every time, he meticulously cares for his hair, face, and skin. When he gets purposely dirty (i.e. on an expedition, working on his car) he’s not so bad but, otherwise, he’s almost anal-retentive about it.
Jewelry? Tattoos? Piercings?: None
Accent?: Literally just. This beautiful man’s voice.
Unique mannerisms/physical habits: Seamus clicks his tongue behind his front teeth when he’s thinking, rubs at his chin or the back of his neck when he’s nervous or concerned.
Athletic: Though he’s let is workouts fall to the side as of late, Seamus tends to be fairly active just to give himself something to do.
INTELLECT:
Level of education: Seamus did not go to college but he grew his business from the ground up, more or less. He learned by doing rather than by gaining experience from a classroom.
Level of self-esteem: Usually Seamus’s self-esteem is pretty high but, occasionally, and more recently as of late, he is more self-deprecating. He lets himself linger on things he’s done and he’s constantly second-guessing everything he does in his own mind.
Gifts/talents: Seamus can rebuild an engine, hotwire a car, shoot from a distance of a mile or two (at the least) and still hit his target and he can stitch himself or his companions up with minimal supplies. Really, his skills are just learned as a mish-mash of things.
Shortcomings: Seamus is often too hard on himself. He berates himself for failure and he has a bit of a perfectionist streak.
Style of speech (loud, mumbler, articulate, etc.): Seamus enunciates pretty clearly but his accent sometimes can make it difficult for others to understand him. Because of this, he often stares them in the face when he speaks, to be sure they can see his lips while he talks.
“Left brain” or “right brain” thinker?: A bit of both, tbh.
Artistic?: Not in the slightest. He makes handmade, wooden children’s toys. He can also rebuild any engine, if that counts.
Mathematical?: Yes, definitely. He does his own finances.
Languages?: English, Scots Gaelic, Portuguese, Spanish, Japanese and a few others German
Neuroses: Anxiety, Depression, Addictive Behaviors, Paranoia, PTSD
Life philosophy: tbd
Religious stance: Protestant (lapsed)
Cautious or daring?: Daring
Optimist or pessimist?: Optimistic pessimist
Extrovert or introvert?: Extrovert mainly, occasionally introverted
Level of comfort with technology: He’s watched a lot of new tech being built and has come to the realization that it’s a load of shite. He will use it and he has come to terms with most of it but lord does he hate certain things about technology.
RELATIONSHIPS:
Current marital/relationship status: Unmarried though he thought he would be, once. They’d been young and hopeful before she’d gotten sick, had planned for the day she could wear his name. The fact that they never could haunts him, to this day.
Sexual orientation: Heteroflexible, I would say. He can appreciate aesthetic but he’s never had an outright fancy for men. Seamus has definitely expressed a much different opinion of sex and sexuality since I originally got him. He’s shown that he really doesn’t particularly care what gender you are, he’ll fall for you or have relations with you. He doesn’t care if you’re a Magick or a Mundus. For him, it’s just...something. It took him a bit to get used to the idea of being alright to like a man, but Graaeme and his partner really allowed him that (he loves his baby brother okay. He would never let something like that get between them). That being said, Seamus now comes off as a bit more pansexual.
Past relationships: OH GOD. I am hardcore sticking with the “Scrooge loved Goldie” camp (w/ my own personal twist). It’s very tragic imo.
A social person? (popular, loner, some close friends, makes friends and then quickly drops them): Once rather sociable, now Seamus interacts solely for the benefits of business. I aim to change this.
Most comfortable around (person): Seamus was once the most comfortable around his siblings and the woman he loved but now he finds that he has very few people he can rely upon. Perhaps the person that can be most trusted now is Alasdair.
SECRETS:
Life goals: Seamus had always wanted to live somewhere quiet. He wanted to turn over the business to a child, grow old with the woman he loved.
Dreams: To have his tinkerings be more than that. He loves to invent and, hell, he’d even open up a shop if he thought it could take off.
Greatest fears: That he is unlovable. That whatever happened to him the last day he saw Della all those years ago is a curse, that it kills anyone he comes to care for. Being a failure.
Most ashamed of: The fact that he could never find Della’s body. He searched that mountain for weeks after he recovered and there was never any sight of her. He often wonders what happened...
*Compulsions: To be expanded
*Obsessions: To be expanded
Secret hobbies: Besides working on cars, Seamus also likes to make things. Specifically, children’s toys. He used to make them for Della when she was a little girl.
Secret skills: He can fly? And he’s a crackshot? Idk tbh
Crimes committed (and was he/she caught? charged?): ohhhhhh he has committed them, for sure. Maybe drunken disorderly, disturbing the peace. Nothing really worse than that though.
What he/she most wants to change about his/her current life: He wants his old life back. He wants to not be constantly hounded by his pain, by the faces of those he’d lost always floating in is periphery.
What he/she most wants to change about his/her physical appearance: None.
DETAILS & QUIRKS:
Night owl or early bird?: He can be up early or up late. It doesn’t matter to him. He has PTSD-induced insomnia.
Light or heavy sleeper?: A rather heavy sleeper once, but in an unfamiliar place, he has come to wake up at the slightest sound.
Favorite food: Haggis. I know that’s rather gross.
Least favorite food: tbd
Favorite book: He likes John Steinbeck, purely because he knows that he portrayed the time period correctly.
Least favorite book: There are so many that it would be hard to pick just one.
Favorite movie: tbd
Least favorite movie: tbd
Favorite song: He enjoys the Beatles. Also, jazz.
Least favorite song: This awful thing
Crunchy or smooth peanut butter?: Crunchy peanut butter
Lefty or righty?: Right
Favorite color: Red and gold
Cusser?: Yeah but good luck trying to understand him
Smoker? Drinker? Drug user?: He smokes and drinks (heavily, if I may say) but he is trying to cut back.
Biggest regret: Letting his niece/daughter die while he did nothing to stop it.
Pets?: None currently but he’d not mind one.
