Matched lack of care goes sorely noted, however, simply having one mere common sense does not make up for an endless lack of others. Such input was not needed.
Nor the proximity.
That is until the arrow meant for him nearly does tear through that shoulder. Had it not been for a quick draw of the short blade to soften the blow; surely it would have gone all the way through and pierced them both.
No more blood, he said.
Thankfully, the archer whom it belongs to has not yet made it far. Perhaps, then, he feels obligated. To sweep up the beast in one armed carry, seek out the coward who would shoot with every intention to flee without first knowing his target is silenced and of this world no more.
A foolish assumption. Men will always make mistakes. This will cost one certain Saracen his life.
❝Another word and I’ll show you how rough.❞
The aggravating pain runs rampant down his left arm and continues to throb and ache with every jostle. He shouldn’t feel it; that’s what Dimitri keeps telling himself the longer Altaïr carries him. Normally, he could withstand several gunshot wounds before the initial dolor consumed his body.
But not now.
It burns. Seething flames ignite deep within old scars and burried wounds. Mistakes like this is what kept the Hunter alive and well fed. This is what determined the predator from the prey. And whatever it is…whatever desire he see in all of it has him tearing away from the man who so kindly sweeped him up in a one-armed carry and sprinting much faster on all fours toward that Saracen.
I will watch the blood bubble past his lips and swallow his dying screams!
Fueled by anger, his mind collapses. Caves in to the beast within.
Dimitri is faster than any horse and any man. Which will become clear once he’s pouncing on the fleeing Templar and shredding him piece by piece.
He leaves nothing but a macabre memory of what was here and now gone. Tainted talons are finally free from the massacre, growl seemingly low compared to before. The only person he seems to recognize is the assassin he previously saved. But does he really? Is this another man that will harm? Kill? Torture? All it takes is for Altaïr to speak…move wrong. His thoughts are blatant.
One wrong move. And I’ll kill you.

He is no lesser man. Nor does he seek to sleep with the likes of any such lesser beast.
Whatever indeed.
Dimitri allows nothing — for it is because he is no mere man, but an assassin that such entitlement and skill has already allowed him to place himself well above the other. Swift as wind he is made, ever changing.Forsaking any who would seek to follow.
❝What mockery is this? Move from my way or you will mate with my blade!❞
“Someone likes it rough.”
Obviously the hunter does not seem to care about your threat nor the fact you can’t handle a joke. He gives a tedious snort before pressing against the assassin. Cannot deny that eating you would prove who’s on top of the food chain.
Thankfully, an arrow is tearing through his shoulder and not yours. You’re welcome.
thearroganteagle:
There is no sorry. Only passing in truth.
Of the numerous bodies that lay strewn among them none were to his claim. Nine lives - and so he is but a blade that remains at rest.
Within reason.
Enough blood has been spilled and here should the beast permit it this encounter; he will spill no more.
❝Nor do I. My enemy is clearly felled. Let us go our separate ways and be done with it.❞
Oh. You handled that better than he had first imagined. Can’t say he’s really that surprised given your personality.
Might be mocking you.
Whatever. Dimitri only allows the assassin to get a few paces ahead before he follows. Canines exposed in a jovial smile. Talk about the jungle book fever.
“Want to mate~?”
Too soon to say sorry, right? After all, these Templars laying at his feet might have been one of your targets. Well, he got hungry and they were the only snacks he saw.
“Let’s start off by saying, I didn’t care.”

The snap of a twig - or was it a stray rock on concrete?
Kaniehtí:io turned her head, scanning the landscape carefully. There were not many signs of life, nor had there been for several hours. Any small noise had the woman starting and jumping in caution. There was no way she wanted to be taken off-guard - not in a world like this.
Of course, like all her wishes, it did not come true. Another sound reverberated through the dead air, and then, suddenly, a roar. A loud roar.
She felt it before she registered it; the scratch of claws at her side, the sudden body of the animal slamming into her. Yowling, Kaniehtí:io stumbled to the side, falling from the impact. “Damn!” she cried out, lashing out at the ruthlessly attacking animal with her fists.
Cold. Starving. Frustrated. And he’s following the strangest animal through the city— A cougar. Probably some lab animal that escaped from under CEDA’s no longer watchful eyes. They tend to get ‘laxed out with ‘cats' anyway. Dimitri can honestly thank them for being dumbasses again and providing him with a full course meal—not fucking scraps and half of Boomer bodies. But he loses the animal and the Hunter scowls before slipping to the streets, trying to find a scent worth following.
Then a loud roar and a scream has senses prickling to his east. Sounds like the kitty caught a survivor wandering the street. Normally the other infected hordes would be racing to the noise — But not tonight. See, zombies and cold don’t mix and it makes the virus within slow and sluggish. Unresponsive to the little things. Dimitri also has to be careful, or he’ll have another limb breaking accident when his body goes into a coma. He woke up four days later with a broken arm, which wasn’t the best injury for him. So this has to be quick and it has to be smart. No hesitation, no lagging, no missing the jugular.
And he rarely misses his kill point. Those teeth aren’t sharp and bloodied for nothing.
By the time he gets there, the mountain lion has a woman pinned beneath him. Yowling and snapping jaws at like some rabid beast. Might have been infected. It’s not like Dimitri stopped to ask once he lets out a piercing, animalistic scream of his own and pounces. Two hundred and fifteen pounds of lithe, lean muscle and cruel strength is slammed into the cougar’s side to take him off the human completely. A rib breaks beneath pallid, clawed hands and there’s a snarl coming from the beast as he flails. Poor thing. Yet, the Hunter can’t hesitate or else it would be a fight to the death; anybody’s game. From this angle, it looks like some guy just decided rolling around with a big-ass cat was fun until he’s sinking canines into a throat and blood splashes up from the severed jugular. Silence. From both beings. Dimitri doesn’t pull back until its heart gives one final thud and he screams again, blood and meat caught on his teeth—a victory roar that he won. The kill was his and thus, he begins to gut and eat.

At the last minute she senses danger behind her, turning and raising a booted foot to block her attacker, letting out a mixture of a hiss and a grunt. Her eyes narrow as she brings her hands up to defend herself.
The foot to the chest winded the Hunter and throws him off balance, a loud yelp and he’s crashing onto his back. In the swiftest moment he is already crouched again and circling around her with a hungry snarl. Since you feel brave enough to kill on his turf, let’s see if you’re brave enough to keep your meal.
What kind of mutations do you have that make you different from a human?
"I caught the airborne virus called the 'Green Flu' four years ago. According to the scientists, my DNA shifted, evolved into that of a predator and enhanced my strength and agility. I'm dead..but not entirely-- and from being locked in a lab for three years, who the hell knows what else they enhanced in me. Certain things..I already know. And I'd rather not give that away."
Kicking any bodily remains off to the side of that destroyed street with a bored sigh. Ignoring the pitiful wheezes literally pouring out of that officer’s crushed throat and how the man still breathes when he’s got a heel grinding steadily into his damaged windpipe is something of a most amusing wonder, but oh, the human body is such an ‘amazing’ thing, isn’t it?
Almost as if the poor man believes Mercer is actually here to end whatever’s left for him. Death brings the end of pain, suffering, sweet everything. Hm. No. Unfortunately, torn open the way he is, he’s not even worth consuming.
All or nothing. That’s just how the world works.
So he’s leaving someone else to choke on their own miserable demise. Sucks for him. At least it was a good riddance, right?
There’s no use for the useless.
"You’re better than that, don’t go on living otherwise.”
Watching the man choke and wither brings back these hollow reputations— What they made him into. Shaped him, molded him. Why couldn’t they put the bullet in his head? Why couldn’t they leave him out on the streets to meet some cruel fate? Everything that Dimitri had been was gone, stolen. A young man who was happy and had dreams of becoming something more. This life… He didn’t deserve it. But the longer those abused eyes stare at the officer, Dimitri always comes to a haunting conclusion. If this is what they wanted? If this is the life he must live…then live it he will.
No use crying over spilled milk. Lean body slips off the hood of a car and powerful legs usher him over to the man. Pallid, clawed hands are caressing his dull cheeks and the Hunter lifts his head to whatever heavens before teeth sink into that warm, moist throat. Listen as he chokes on his own blood, what bubbles past those agonized lips drain into his ears and pool behind his head. It’s so relaxing to feel the human die so slowly.
And everything else is happening too fast.
Entrails and gore splatter outward, flesh ripping and bones splintering like twigs. He’s gutting—not stopping until his nails touch the pavement below the man. Dimitri goes for his prize; a perfectly thudding heart in the palm of his hand. Squeezes until the thick organ seeps betwixt the cracks of his fingers. "Of course I’m better.” The Hunter isn’t bragging. Just stating the obvious facts.

Hungry and hostile.
Real ‘intimidating.’ Huh.
"Hate to break it to you—”
Yet you purr like a kitty and denial isn’t gonna ‘change’ the rules of nature just for you because you aren’t that special, come on~. Human and idiocy really are one in the same; or hasn’t something so beyond them figured that much out yet?
Dimitri casually watches the virus before him, cheek resting against a knee and silver hues almost blinking shut. Yeah, he knows this already— humanity sucks and so does the infected. Shitty life, right? Right. So he purrs louder as if to spite himself, baring teeth and yawning out a screech.
