His hopes and dreams are crushed, though, when he's promised in marriage to the grandchild of a Mediterranean god. Unable to refuse the deal, all Ludwig can do is prepare for his new life with a spouse that refuses to show their face.
Throw the first stone by Sangue_di_drago
(South Italy & Benito Mussolini)
The square smells of petrol and spring and the human smell of a crowd that has been standing in the heat for a long time, pressed together, running on something that is not quite joy and not quite grief and is not, whatever the newspapers will call it tomorrow, simple.
He stands at the edge of it and looks at what is hanging from the girder of the Esso station and feels nothing he expected to feel.
He expected... He doesn't know exactly what he expected. He has been waiting for this, or something like this, for years.
The thing has come.
Smoked salmon by Sangue_di_drago **Heated Rivalry crossover**
(Shane Hollander/Ilya Rozanov, Canada, Russia)
The charity gala is, objectively, a terrible idea.
Not the charity part - that is fine, noble even. The terrible idea is putting a room full of professional hockey players, several minor European dignitaries, and actual personifications of a nation-states together in a ballroom in Geneva and expecting nothing to happen.

The hallway is quiet and empty of potential witnesses.
This is good.
This is exactly what Ilya needs.
Or: Ilya is subjected to a 'national' walk of shame.

Чаму жанчына — Chapter 10: Чаму Няўдачнік & Chapter 11: We Drink To The Blossoms We'll Never See Bloom by AalesundBren
(Belarus & Åland, Lithuania/Poland, Belarus & Lithuania, Finland/Sweden, Estonia/Finland, Finland & Åland, Belarus & Ukraine, Belarus & Georgia, Lithuania & Russia, Georgia & Russia, Georgia & Lithuania, Russia & Ukraine)
After losing the Finnish War, in September 1809, Sweden signs Finland and Åland away to the Russian Empire in the Treaty of Fredrikshamn. In October, shortly after arriving in Saint Petersburg, Tino Väinämöinen disappears, leaving his young daughter on her own in Ivan Braginsky's house, accompanied only by the disjointed unit of Baltic and Eastern European states who couldn't care less about their new housemate.
Their indifference and pre-existing complexes quickly come crashing down on them, and the longer the Finn is missing, the worse their condition becomes, as questions of what defines their very existence in such an uneasy time bring everyone to their breaking point.

The sun of what will come by Sangue_di_drago
(America, Alice Roosvelt, Theodore Roosvelt)
"She stood up for her friend, that counts something," he pauses, "She needs to know that someone sees her."
Theodore is quiet for a long moment. When he speaks, his voice is stripped of performance, of the vigour and the emphatic delivery and the teeth and the energy. It's just the voice of a man saying the true thing plainly: "I am the President of the United States," he says, "or I am her father. I have not found a way to be both. I have looked for it - I want you to know that I have looked for it - and I have not found it. That is not an excuse. It is simply what is true."
