Okay, fair warning, this fic is not for everyone. I first read it on AFFN, and when I say it had me in a grip...!! It was my first real experience of reading a confessional/"unreliable" narrator-type of fiction that truly shook me like no publication has ever managed to do - and I think this would struggle to be professionally published, it is just so visceral and plain horrifying. Truly a difficult read, one I can't recommend to just anyone, but I couldn't leave it off this list as it has completely changed my entire perspective of what not just fanfiction but simply fiction can evoke in a reader.

APH Plot Bunny Bounce - What it is and How it Works
Ok this is a thing I've decided to try. It's called a plot bunny bounce. Basically I will start it with a both a prompt which lays out the out the rough out line of the plot bounce, (though if you have a really good idea that deviates from the out line, as long as it is consistent with the pairing/etc. and doesn't drastically change the setting or even better can work back into being in line with the out line eventually then that is alright too.)
Also I will add a few lines or paragraph or so and then it's up to other's to reblog and add more. Reblog contributions can be:
1. A description in the form of what happens next in third person style or headcanon/prompt style, basically Germany does ______ then ___ to ____.
2. A drabble of various lengths written in more of a regular fic style.
3. Write some dialog.
4. Contribute in pic form or video or comic.
5. Any other way that adds to the plot.
Try not to reblog more than once in a row (unless the plot bunny bounce has gone cold like within a day or two.) The person who starts it can contribute as well but will probably wait until it gets going. I'm going to start a few of these in a sec guys, both involving America...
APH Fic Request: In Canon AmeriPan and Rare Romantic Groupings
I'd really really really love to see more in canon AmeriPan fics!! In other words more fics dealing with Japan and America as nations.
Oh and I really think that exploring rare pairings/romantic is essential for maintaining the life of a fandom and expanding said fandom's growth. Even if the canon material has not yet explored connections between some characters that doesn't mean that fandom should not explore these connections. Particularly that because Hetalia is based on history, there are most often more connections between the nations that could be used and explored. Or also the character's personalities may make an interesting relationship in themselves.
I also like the saying that used to be proclaimed in one of my other fandoms One Piece, back when LJ was still active, that being" Our fandom doesn't have pairing wars, we have orgies." LOL. I also think it's a good way to stretch one's abilities.
A few that I've been thinking about recently have been SpaMerica, AmeIta, AmeMano, and the NA brothers (AmeCan) x the Italy brothers, considering the fact that both of the Italy's switched sides, then the Germans invaded but then were pushed out by America, Canada, and England. But I've also been thinking of a lot of others.
While I am an Romanophile I am NOT an expert, but I am putting this up so it might help people who either don't have resources or time to do minor research.
When I am referring to Roman names, I am referring to how they were used in the Republic period (mainly late Republic). I am not referring to how names were used in early Rome/early Republic, or how they were used in the Empire. If you don't know what I am talking about, then I am using the time of around Julius Caeser, Cicero, Pompey, etc...(I will also use Julius Caeser's name for the example to make it easy and familiar to understand)
From what I gather from the Hetalia manga Ancient Rome would have been a Patrician Roman (from the higher class). Since there was a comic where he was portrayed as being inside the Roman Senate building, in which it would have not been common to have Plebeians inside - unless they were Tribunes or higher class people from the rest of Italy (in which the latter might make them more patricians by default but not a pure bred Roman). (Also women were not allowed in the Senate building.) The time of the comic would have also been in the late Roman Republic (the time in Roman history I read about the most), because of the reference to Spartacus' slave revolt and the minor reference to former general/council Gaius Marius. He was voted council seven times in a row, which should have been impossible since you could only be council once every ten years.
At this time most patrician Romans from high class families (meaning they've been around since the beginning of the Republic) would of had three names (not used in the same sense as we would use three names now days). Also three names were used for patrician men more than women (which is not what I will get into since Ancient Rome is male). I will also be using the simple form of a patrician name, since the Romans sometimes added a fourth or even more names.
Praenomen (first name/given name), Nomen (clan name/gens), Cognomen (family name/surname).
Example for three names: Gaius Julius Caeser. His first name is Gaius, from the clan of the Julius (or Julii) and the family of Caeser (which can mean a head of hair).
There were very limited first names, so that's why you see a lot of Romen men called Marcus, Gaius, Gnaeus, Quintus, Publius, etc..
The nomen is the gens or the tribe name of the family, which can track down where the family originated from (so to speak). Aemilius, Julius, Junius, Cornelius, Caeilius were familiar nomen names of the time period and were Roman. Others like Pompeius or Tullius were not traditional Roman nomens and were from other locations within Italy (not too sure if they did have some Latin origins somewhere, but I just use them as examples of non traditional patrician names that popped up during the latter half of the Republic).
The Cognomen was once used as a nicknames, but it became the family name by the time of the late Republic to distinguish one family from the other (it wasn't hard to probably run into people in your extended family with the same name). Not all had three names like Gnaeus Pompeius (or Pompey), who added on the third name of Magus (the great). His father before him had the displeasure of getting stuck with the third name Strabo (cross-eyed), due to being cross-eyed. Some other Romans who already had three names added a fourth like Pompey. For example: Publius Cornelius Scipio Africanus (the conqueror of Africa).
Reasons why some did not have three names, because their family either didn't bother with that (from my opinion), they had only recently acquired status, or were from other tribes in Italy. These families would have been considered in this period of Roman history as novo homus (new men), because they have no previous Roman family lineage, or family status in the senate. In the case of Marcus Tullius Cicero this does apply even though he did have a full name and did have Roman citizenship. He would be considered as a new man, because his family did not originate from Rome and lack previous family power in the senate.
Personally, to avoid conflict I would make Rome an actual Roman (since there could have been other nations to represent the other tribes in the early history of Italy like Sabine or Etruscan). I also would make him a Patrician since he would have been there since the founding of both the city and Republic (which happened at different times, because Rome had a King at one point). So probably using the three names would be best, since he would want to conform to the time period and to not make himself look like he is a new man. Though I doubt he would care about being seen as a new man (and might appreciate the new ideals), but the senate was kind of being run by an aristocracy around this time and didn't always have a good opinion of new men trying to pull apart their conservative traditional ways.
As a hint, do not give Rome the nomen of Julius (not even to be familiar), because that would mean he is related to Julius Caesar. I would also avoid Junius, because that is Marcus Junius Brutus nomen and his ancestor was suppose to be the founder of the Roman Republic. Also do not use Romulus, it wasn't common and I doubt anyone at that time would like another person calling themselves by the founder of Rome's name (I have made a small post about this previously).
Reminder: I am not an expert and I had to even look up some things so I could remember. I might not be 100% correct in everything that I said and I even input minor opinions on the historical side (but I did try to be factual). It's hard to not have an opinion on roman history and I didn't want to sound like I copy and pasted from a text book. I also didn't want any of this to fly over people's heads (since not everyone is into Roman history).
