I've come with an important announcement!

Aph Lithuania week 2021 is going to not happen at march.

This is due to the fact that I'm in my last year of high school and have exams upon me.

Aph Lithuania week will still happen, just in the summer time.

Aph Baltics Zine Interest Check

Hello, everyone!

After a few weeks of thinking, I have finally decided to announce that I would like to host a zine. This zine would revolve around the Baltic States - Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia. It would be a completely digital zine. There is one major reason for this. The less money required to put the zine together, the more money we can put toward the charity we will be giving to. The overall theme of the zine is history and culture, and how beautiful, varied, and unique they all are. It is meant to showcase the overwhelming beauty of these nations and will attempt to display all the things that make the Baltic states stand out from the rest of the world.

Profit from the zine will be split between two charities. The first is the Trevor Project, and American based nonprofit that works to end suicide and self harm among LGBTQ+ people in America. (Find them here: https://www.thetrevorproject.org/) The second organization is LGL, a Lithuania based nonprofit that works hard to end homophobia and anti-LGBTQ+ stigma in Lithuania itself. They also strive to create unity between LGBTQ+ people from all three of the Baltic States. 

Note that no sensitive subjects will be mentioned in any way shape or form. The purpose of this zine is to uplift and inspire, and as such, certain subjects and events will not be allowed a place in the zine. This notion will be expanded upon, should the zine actually take off.

Alt-talia Compilation: Why Lithuania Loves Basketball (And Other Short Tales)

Okay, so more early access! I decided to bundle in the Basketball prompt with the miscellaneous Free prompt ideas I had laying around for @aphlithuaniaweek2020​ because they were really short. They’re all more lighthearted/comedic ones too, so they’re good refreshers after the streak of heavier ones I have submitted for this event. As of this writing, I have the basketball one written down; if you like what you see, reblog and check it out in a few days! Hopefully I’ll have added the rest later!

And it’s over! WOOO! As long as @aphlithuaniaweek2020​ isn’t taking an even longer extension for the bonus picture, haha… Though I should probably do it for the Baltic trio event, thinking about it, since I’ll be able to do the other two too. …Yeah, actually I should probably do that.

Alt-talia: I Just Wanna Be Free (And The Other Times Lithuania Became Independent (?))

Okay, so this is for Independence/Freedom for the @aphlithuaniaweek2020 event. But I wanted to subvert expectations since I’m sure most were expecting stuff about Lithuania’s independence from Russia. And this is a bit… uh, depressing, more than triumphant. I’ll just say that if you’re a fan of LietPol, expect to have your heart torn out and thrown into a grinder. 

Though I didn’t know whether releasing something this depressing as a singular entry on an event scheduled around Lithuanian national day was appropriate… So I’m releasing this in Early Access! Sort of!

What is early-access? For those of you not familiar with video game terminology, that’s when a game is released early in development to be developed further later. As I have limited time, I have decided to use this format!)

Alright, so one of the stories is complete, but I want to add more later, probably. But I still need sleep. So I’m releasing this in this state. If you like what you see, reblog please! Thanks!

Also, note that I write this from Liet’s POV, and his views do not necessarily reflect my own, or even a completely accurate truth. Also, this is my semi-AU; please read my earlier fics for explanation. Though I’ll just say that the characters can be different. Really different. Also, “Zahira/Lipka” is an OC representing the Lipka Tatars; while it’s questionable whether she should exist, she does for now. She basically starts as Liet’s kind-of bodyguard, often described as an employee, but eventually became loyal to Belarus as well, then Poland after the Commonwealth became a thing. Basically a proud warrior type.

I hope this counts? While it does focus on a relationship with another character, I think that Liet is in main focus enough for this to count?

Alt-talia: Child of the Groves

So this is another entry for @aphlithuaniaweek2020! This time it’s for the Nature prompt! 

I just wanted to expand more on the Baltic mythology after “The Fiery One”, though this is a different interpretation than that one, in which the communication is less direct, and also exploring how pagan/nature-worshipping beliefs form. It’s actually really fitting that they form through, in nation terms, the innocent eyes of a child. 

Also, due to that this fic might kind of imply that Liet has been around since even before the birth of the Lithuanian state? Maybe the usual interpretation of when he was born in Alt-talia and canon could still fit, but it might make more sense if he’s actually even older than that just in this one case. After all, there was one tribe apparently called the “Lithuanians”… I guess it’s a similar case with the Polans and Poland in which they were the most major tribe or the one Mindaugas ruled?

Alt-Lithuania Concept Art

I said I would write an introduction for Alt-Liet, but then I thought I could maybe do it in picture form instead! After all I would get less distracted that way probably, and show how he would look in my stories too! Consider this my first actual concept art (?).

(I’m sorry for the lack of posts. But I almost have another fic done. It’s just that these past few weeks have been emotionally hectic due to my councilor of 2 years leaving yesterday. I do hope to get the rest done today and after my dentist appointment tomorrow. Hopefully I’ll be able to submit more art too, but I overestimate myself.)

Alt-talia: The Fiery One

(Please read my previous work for specifics on this semi-AU!)

So I decided to finally submit my next entry for @aphlithuaniaweek2020​! This one for the Fire theme. I thought I could do something super dramatic or something, but then I thought why not go this route. Besides, it was the only scenario I could really come up with a plot for in such limited time. Also… child characters are cute, even if I was hoping to do something that would explore his modern character more. And I wanted to explore Baltic paganism a bit more. Though finding info on it in English, like finding a lot of info about Lithuania, was like pulling teeth. So little time…

This isn’t necessarily canon for Alt-talia, but I thought it was an interesting way of interpreting gods and goddesses. Though I really wanted the one in question to have a more snarky Disney/Kid Icarus/etc. style interpretation, that probably can’t gel too well with reality, so it ended up a bit halfway lol.

In anyway, it’s late. I have something special planned for tomorrow, so stay tuned!

And I might add an ending to this later? Eh. I don’t have much time anyway… I do hope I can revisit some of these concepts some other time.

Alt-talia: Knygnešiai

YES SO FINALLY I GOT TO RELEASE A FIC FOR @aphlithuaniaweek2020 THOUGH IT’S OVERDUE YAAAYYYYY- 

This is, appropriately enough, Day one (March 8): Books/history. I’m surprised no one covered the historical event I’m covering here (Also; man, these prompts are some quality ones).

This was supposed to be short but of course it got a bit long aaaaaa- How can I release the others if I take so long on this one…  This is admittedly really rushed, as is usual for me. 

But as I keep saying, I’ve been wanting to test out Alt-Lithuania for a while. Huh? What do I mean by Alt? Alt-talia is the working title of my semi-AU of Hetalia; most relevant here is that the characters can and often are written extremely differently to better fit their country. And Lithuania… I kind of have a hard time grasping what he should be, despite the fact that I’ve written him so much before, though I hope this event will help in brainstorming. He’s the Baltic I want to write the most but why is it so hard to find info on you Liet aaauuuuggghhhh-. “Where dafaq is Lithuania” indeed. Though this fic will show that he’s a bit different from the Liet you know. Though the even bigger differences will probably be more apparent in the other characters who show up. Also I change some appearance details around. 

Also… while I use “Tolys” here for Liet’s name, I’ve also seen a good argument for “Tauras”. I’m not sure which to choose. Also, I should note that human names are used in narration when addressing the character as an individual and not a nation. Though Liet and Belarus go by their human names quite often due to a reason that I want you to read Superbia for, but I will just say is due to the weird way pre-modern identity worked for those who don’t want to read that novel. 

I kind of hoped that I would release a lighthearted introduction fic to Alt-Liet for my first fic entry. I also wanted to expand more on this historical event in this fic (though it does come up in a different story I’m writing, it’s from a different POV. I guess you could consider this a sort of gaiden story for Bons Baisers De Russie?). Though since I want to get my foot in the door I’m releasing this now. Maybe the lighthearted introduction (or at least introductions to how I could write him) could be later. I need to sleep. I just hope I procrastinate less from now on. I might release part 2 later if I have the time. 

Also; brief mentions of LietBel/LitBel, though it isn’t too major. Also an OC shows up, but she only has a few lines. 

I love this period in history, it fascinates me with the potential for personifications and stuff, even if there aren’t any massive continent-spanning wars. Though note, this is written from Liet’s POV, with Liet’s personal/national bias, so his views do not necessarily reflect my own. 

And there’s some deleted scenes I found didn’t fit in the story direction, but I’m still throwing in because I thought they were cool.

Hi! Today's free prompt! So you may be asking "what's this? Who's these loli? Will Liet get arrested by the ONU?" Here the answer: when I was in Vilnius I found a place called Užupis. It was an "artists republic" in the middle of the city. I really love the idea, so I drew a fan-character of this "micronation". And here she is! She's like a kind of young sister. Just imagine these little girl calling Liet "Onii-chan"! It would be so cute!

Plus: I really tried to draw a decent background looking at photos, but I didn't like it so it's just in pencil.

AAAAA I just remembered @aphlithuaniaweek2020 was a thing! And what a coincidence, since I was just thinking about this guy more often... because I’ve been trying Hetaloid after a long hiatus, and the cover I’m working on most features Lithuania as a main vocal.

So, for the Free prompt day, I’ll submit my progress so far! This will go up after the day changes; it’s now the 12th. That’s right, a Hetaloid submission! I just hope this gets attention for being unique...

But it really is a coincidence. I was just thinking I want to write my Alt version of him more and was regaining a bit of interest in him again. So I hope I give him much needed attention. He’s shown up in Superbia (and was mentioned in Estonia’s First Christmas), but since I wasn’t too sure how to characterize GDL Tolys at the time (and now it’s still a bit vague) and the fic was Poland-centric he didn’t show a lot of character. Though in most writing exercises I’ve written him in he’s turned out really bland because of this lack of info. I do hope I can change that. And I still have that way overdue submission for @aph-lunar-new-year and aaauuuugghhh-

Yes, it’s the Commonwealth crew (the most stable members of it at least)! Because I love them. I kind of wanted to make people guess but this probably won’t get enough attention for that... I’m just proud of how relatively well their voicebanks turned out. Though they work badly with the advanced sampler... Lithuania works a bit better but there’s still ear-bleeding background noise. So it’s in resampler for now. Though I definitely want to use moresampler so I can see how much I can make them sound like they could fit the Alt versions with the same voice.

Also: Not sure if I should spoil my lyrics (it’s about a certain historic event between them/historic era, and it actually fits a few of the prompts), though I’ll post them if there’s demand. Then again it’s also focused on Poland as well (even if Lithuania, for once, gets the leading lines. As you can tell from the above, Lithuania roughly corresponds to Gackpo, Poland to KAITO, and Belarus to Len) and a bit of Belarus so it might not be appropriate for the event anyway. Though that also applies to this...
