DREAMLAND ROLLER RINK – only andie’s favorite spot in all of nevada. she was a regular and she’d frequent it alone. it was sort of a…therapy to her, if she may. see, being a workaholic doesn’t warrant much free time especially when you’re the co-owner. and people might think, well if ya own the place why don’t ya just give yourself more time off? those people don’t know andie. there are no days off. no time to waste in fear of falling back into the struggle of having little to no money. but the very few times she did fit some extra time into her schedule, she was usually roller skating. the sound of lovergirl by teena marie coursing through her veins as she rolled around to the beat blasting throughout the rink, andie lost herself. it was freeing, in all honesty. she felt like she was in a damn music video. getting so into the song that her eyes even closed while she serpentined along to the lyrics. “i just want to be your lovergirl…i just want to rock your wo – oh, OH shit shit shit!” BAM! slammed right into another skater and fell ass first to the ground. a lovely music video.
April wasn’t sure how her friends managed to talk her into this. She had never been to the Roller Rink before, and hadn’t strapped on a pair of skates since she was a little girl. To top it off, her friends all seemed to have gone missing, leaving her to wobble around the rink alone. She spent a solid half hour clinging to the edge, cursing under her breath and doing all she could to stop from falling flat on her ass. Then, a miracle occurred. Somehow, April gained a rush of confidence, allowing her to let go of the side and roll cautiously toward the centre of the rink- that was, until someone smacked straight into her, sending her sprawling across the ground. April threw her hands out to protect herself, shuddering as the impact jolted through her nerve endings. She pushed herself to her knees, looking around to the other skater. “Was that my fault?” She asked, tentatively.
