Normally Lin would not end up in a bar on a Tuesday night–or any other night of the week for that matter–but the professor he was assisting in research had insisted he and the other research assistants go out for a drink after a day in the lab. Lin never knew what to do in bars so he sat quietly with a beer that he sipped at very slowly, watching those he’d arrived with getting drunk and separating off to different areas of the bar.
When someone bumped into his bar stool, he apologized mostly for existing in a place he was not meant to exist. “Sorry…” he murmured to the person.

After a full day of making phone calls with no one calling her back, Bella needed a drink. She was only paying attention to the phone in her hand, furiously texting one of the officials that she needed a permit for. Of course the red tape would always mean that things moved far too slow for the brunette’s liking. She bumped into the man sitting alone at the bar. As she began to apologize, the man beat her to it. She furrowed her brow in confusion, tucking the phone into her pocket. “Whatever do you have to be sorry for, darling? I was the one who bumped into you.”
