Hello! I haven’t been on in three months (!) and I don’t intend on returning to this blog in the foreseeable future. I did, however, make a mumu that I intend on keeping active for once (or at least I’m going to try lmao). It has only three muses now (and I’m already liking one over the other two send help before I make it a single muse blog) but I’d love to start some things with any of you who might be interested. I’m looking for long term partners and I’m very open to 1x1 plots and creating a muse to accommodate a certain plot, so feel free to hit me up if you’re looking for a connection or a plot.     Quality time with Arabella was something Chey missed most of all. Considering she spent most of her time with her coworkers, who were always predominantly  male, she needed girl time with Arabella. Now that she was taking a break from the Hollywood scene, she had a feeling that woman would be seeing a lot more of her. “No, don’t worry, you know me… Just beach obsessed,” she reasoned with her and laughed a bit. “It’s going to be so fun, Bells. Seriously. This place is nice, like really really nice. And we can do whatever - stay on the beach, drink inside, go into town… I’m just glad to be hanging out with you again. It’s been forever.”

“Oh, trust me. I know,” she laughs. Arabella was more the kind of person to sit back and relax by the pool, potentially by the lake. There is just something scary about the ocean, but Chey obviously doesn’t share that feeling. Which is fine, because she’ll be just as happy lounging by the shore. “You’re really hyping it up. I haven’t even seen pictures yet.” Though they are almost here and judging by the houses they are driving past, it’s going to be pretty epic. “I know. I feel like I haven’t seen you in way too long.” And it has been a long time, considering how much they once hung out. “But I promise to get you up to speed on everything in my life before the end of the weekend. And I want to hear all there is there about you too. You’ve got to promise to spill everything.”

    "can we be civil?“ asked ian the moment that she sat down across from him. part of him still couldn’t believe their situation. the ink was still fresh on their divorce papers. yet their mutual friends were getting married. they hadn’t announced their divorce when plans were being made. that was how he found himself seated at a table with his ex wife for their rehearsal dinner. he had never felt so awkward in his entire life. part of him was almost praying that the hospital would need him so he could leave. though he wasn’t on call for the night. he was going to tap his fingers against the table,” lets just try to be happy for them even if they both look like they are afraid we are going to start fighting.“

Everything had gone too quickly and she had let herself get carried away again. Yet another marriage she couldn’t make work. Another thing to add to her list of failures. “I can be. Can you,” she snaps back. What follows is a deep sigh that just about everyone would have heard if it hadn’t been for the music. Problem is that she only knows the soon-to-be-married couple through Ian, so there is no one else she knows but her former husband and the happy couple. She can hardly get up and talk to someone else, because she doesn’t know anyone else. Thank god for wine, though, she thinks as she sips from her glass.

open: anyone connections: friend, best friend, fwb plot: chey invited her friend to come along on a weekend getaway to a beach house rented by some friends from work. she was the only one not bringing a s/o with her, so she begged invited your muse to come.

   Working 15 hour days for almost the entire year with little to no breaks was wearing down on the girl. It was the tail end of her favorite season, and she hadn’t had time to enjoy it the only way she knew how - going to the beach. After deciding taking a month hiatus from the film world, she set her sails on the beach and nothing else. Patting her hands against her steering wheel to an upbeat tune, she looked over at the passenger side and smiled while dancing in her seat a little. “Thanks for coming with me,” she told them and chuckled, “I can’t wait. I already have my damn bathing suit on under my clothes.” It was the first time in a long time that she seemed happy.

With Chey working what even Arabella thought was too much to handle for a human being, the two hadn’t had time to see each other in a long time. Of course there were phone calls and texts, tagging each other in stupid posts on Facebook and a lunch or dinner every now and again, but it’s hardly anything compared to how much the two used to hang out. So their weekend away together was more than welcome and she had been looking forward to it ever since Chey invited her. “Thanks for inviting me,” Arabella chuckles. As if she would have said no. “Seriously? I’m not that level prepared, I guess,” she laughs.

Despite it having become less of an oddity these days, there is still always that feeling of disgust when she wakes up in a stranger’s bed. The knowledge that she slept with someone she knows only as little about as his first name puts a bad taste in her mouth, yet it doesn’t stop her from repeating her mistakes. Last week escapade is still vividly imprinted in her memory, but that hadn’t stopped her from going out again last night. She hates herself for ending up here again. But even that self hatred won’t stop her from going out again next week. Anything to feel a little less lonely for a couple of hours, even when the aftertaste makes the whole experience miserable.

He appears to be fast asleep, but she might be wrong. The last thing she wants is the awkwardness that comes with being caught sneaking out. Besides, she has no idea where she is. If she has to call a cab, then she would rather not wait outside for twenty minutes or so. Not in the dress she is wearing. That still leaves several options. She could try to go back to sleep, though she knows the odds of that happening are slim now that she’s awake and burdened with this dreadful headache. Then there’s the option to call for a cab now and wait inside, praying that he won’t wake up. 

Her mind is going over some other options, but they all seem irrelevant from this moment onward. Because when she turns her head to look at the stranger sleeping next to her, she looks right into his eyes.

“I do?” A mischievous smirk begins to tug on the corners of his lips as he leans in closer to Arabella. So it’s settled; he doesn’t have to drive back to his barely furnitured apartment - which has him wonder why she has thrown him out of this house in the first place, if he sleeps here almost every night, anyway. But he won’t question that now; not in the mood for another argument.

With a content hum breaking from his throat he nearly closes the gap between them, lets his hand roam over her side. “Then how ‘bout we…go to bed?” The smirk becomes smaller. “Really, I’m toired, I don’t think I’ll be good for anything tonoight.”

“Sounds like a plan to me,” she agrees with a smile. Her hand finds its way to his, her thumb mindlessly caressing the back of his hand. “I could do with some sleep.” And he’s already halfway there, considering the only reason why he’s awake right now, is because she woke him up.

Not really wanting to, Arabella manages to drag herself off the couch. The wine glasses and the empty containers are a problem for tomorrow. Right now, she can’t wait to go upstairs and get out of her dress and into her pajamas.

Beckett didn’t catch on right away, but when he did, he ducked his head a bit meekly and let out a chuckle. He should have known. “Right,” he nodded. When Christine acted confused, he was quick to play along and move on. There wasn’t any need to address it– if their double dates knew, they knew. If they didn’t, they didn’t have to. 

“No drinks for me, either.” He didn’t like drinking out in public. Even when they were at the bar yesterday, he opted for water. There was no use in driving while drunk given how many times he’d picked up intoxicated drivers during his night shifts. “So, did you go to school at all?” he asked, thinking of other topics to touch that would seem normal. Their friends seemed to be thrilled that they were getting along, but for now, it was just an act. 

Arabella’s mind is still a little foggy from the previous night. She can remember all of it, but the conversation they’d had at the bar is mostly forgotten. They had talked for a while, but for Arabella it had mostly been to have a couple of more drinks before leaving the place with him. So she’s not exactly sure what they discussed. Thank god they can pretend they’ve never met before. It saves her the embarrassment of asking him a similar question.

“Hm, I did,” she nods. “But I haven’t been in school in.. Eight years. Maybe nine.” It seems like an eternity ago. She tries to remember what Christine had told her about him. She hadn’t really been paying that much attention and curses herself for not having done so now. “Did you go to school? Or does that work differently when you want to become a cop?”

Beckett listened intently, sensing the way they stuck to their strangers act. He couldn’t help but notice she was a bit more inhibited in comparison to last night, and he felt this way, too. It just goes to show how strange the whole situation was for the both of them. Nevertheless, he did his best to work past the awkwardness and at least try to seem convincing– if not to each other, then to their friends. 

“And your Friday evenings are…?” he asked, letting out a chuckle. He sipped on his water, too. 

“Guess,” she laughs. Christine is looking a little confused, as Arabella then almost instantly continues to talk without giving him a moment to guess. “This last Friday.. Yesterday,” she adds, “wasn’t the worst of all the Fridays I’ve had. I wonder what that says about my Saturday.” Christine and her husband are clearly a little lost, unable to understand Bella’s train of thoughts. Evidently worried Beckett isn’t either, Christine intervenes. 

“Should we order some drinks,” Christine proposes. “We can share a bottle of wine between us,” the woman offers. But Bella shakes her head. “I can’t, I’m driving. I’m forced to drink soda all night.”

“I’m not!” he protests laughingly. Well, he might be. But still he hasn’t been running or swimming in a while. Still he hasn’t done anything to keep his body in shape, not after leaving prison. The short swim in the lake hasn’t done anything; and prison hasn’t really been a great place for these kinds of things, either.

He reaches over and playfully pokes his finger into Arabella’s side. “I don’t know, I just…I’m toired. ‘xcept ye wanna do anything else, then I’ll stay.” He isn’t even sure anymore if he’s allowed to sleep in her bed, or if he’s supposed to drive to his own small place now.

“Well, you’re not leaving, let’s start with that,” she begins. He might not be living here, but that doesn’t mean she’ll miss a chance to have him stay over. Especially now that he’s already here. Though they see each other almost daily, which is why he spends more nights in her bed than he does in his own.

“Besides, I did kind of make you a promise, remember?” She moves up a little to look at him properly. “You do something for me, I do something for you,” she says, as if he needs a reminder. He had gone with her to the party, even though it had been only briefly. Though that’s her fault rather than his. “So now you get to decide what we’re going to do.”

So Tumblr got back to me about the problems I’ve been experiencing (see under the cut to see my problems). They recommended a few things to try, one of which is to turn off all my extensions. So I turned off the Pinterest extension. Nothing. Turned off the Tumblr Archive extension nothing. Turned off Xkit. Problems fixed. So now I know what’s causing my problems, but it’s the only extension on my laptop that I actually need. Fuck me.
