Quiet night, yeah?
You need to see Omar and get your taste buds checked because that’s just a wrong opinion. It’s just wrong. There’s no other way about it. Pumpkin is delicious.
Omar do not like me. He cannot check my taste bud.

Quiet night, yeah?
You need to see Omar and get your taste buds checked because that’s just a wrong opinion. It’s just wrong. There’s no other way about it. Pumpkin is delicious.
Omar do not like me. He cannot check my taste bud.
Alright.
I dunno, sloppy habits or not, so long as you get the job done and take that sucker down, it’s good enough for me. [she says with a chuckle. She could only imagine what sort of bad habits she was picking up with her self taught swordsmanship]
Is easier to learn the right way than to break the bad habits. This has been say to me many time.
Alright.
Bad habits?
Si. I pick up the bad habits? Eh, not straight in the back, always lean to the right. Is, eh, sloppy some time.
Quiet night, yeah?
{Charlie’s eyes widen at Araceli’s admission.} What? How can you not like the taste of pumpkin? What is wrong with you? Everybody likes pumpkin. There’s just something wrong with your taste buds.
I like any flavor not the pumpkin. Is very bad flavor. I have most hate for this.
Quiet night, yeah?
{Charlie glances up at the voice, noting the familiar accent, and returning the kind smile just as strongly.} It is a good season. I like the way it smells. Something about it. Kinda wish we could have apple cider and pumpkin spice flavored everything.
Yeck. [Araceli makes a wretching face at the mention of the pumpkin spice.] I do not like this flavor. Is bad. Yeck.
Quiet night, yeah?
{Charlie sits just outside the bank, back firmly against the wall as she hugs her knees to her chest. The night seems calm, almost soothing and the young woman isn’t sure if that’s a good thing or a bad thing. Still, the air is cool against her skin and autumn filters in through her lungs. She always liked this season.}
[Araceli passes by with her knife twirling in her hand. She grins at Charlie warmly.] Is my favorite time of the seasons. All the tree, they turn very, very pretty color.
Alright.
Dude, at this rate I think you should be teaching me
No, no. I am bad at teach. I have, eh, the bad habits?
Alright.
[Kris doesn’t hide the fact that she’s impressed by Araceli’s movements. she at first a bit perplexed by her choosing to go for the ear, neck or even the jaw, but when Kris prods at the soft skin under her jaw, it clicks in her mind.] Oh, because it’s the softest part at it’s easier to get to the brain right without damaged the knife, right?
Si. Is fast, good way to get to brain. Not have to hit the bone. Very quick, zombie not even know what hit.
...
Oh. [Layla said quietly.] Sorry if I offended you or something. I wasn’t trying ti define you.
I am never offend. Is alright. What is your name?
Alright.
[Kris studies the blade and gets a feel for the way it fits in the palm of her hand. Definitely different from anything she’s held before, but without even thinking she flips the blade in her hand and the second she’s holding it properly something inside of her mind clicks]
Alright… haven’t used these things before, but with this you’re gonna have to be fast and really careful since you’re gonna have to get close and… [Kris get into a something like a crouch position, knife raised and ready before she suddenly lunges at the mannequin, holding it by the shoulder before she plunges it into the skull and pulls it out quickly] Aim for the head if you want to finish it off quickly.
[Araceli's smiling the whole time Kris is showing her how to use the blade. When she's finished, she nods and holds her hand out for the knife back.] I show you way I do. [She takes the knife and mimics Kris's movement almost identically, except her knife plunges into the ear of the mannequin.] I always go for the ear. Is quick way. Or sometime under jaw or in neck, but with the zombie, always the ear.
Alright.
[Kris nods her head and holds out her hand] Can I borrow your knife for a bit? [she asks, wanting to get a feel for it herself since she’s never really used a knife before]
Si, claro. [Araceli flips the knife easily in her hand, handing it over hilt first to Kris.]
...
I thought Colin said you built the wall. [Layla asks, confused.]
I did build the barricade. But it not define me. My purpose is not the barricade. It is Las Vegas.
...
Oh right. [Layla sits up a bit nodding.] You’re barricade girl. I’ve heard of you.
Barricade girl? No, no. I am Araceli. Not this barricade girl.
Alright.
[Kris is a bit surprised by the fact that Araceli of all people is coming out for a lesson, but hey she’ll do what she can in the time alotted before they move tomorrow, even if most of the time she was just going off of feel and guesswork] You sure you think you need a lesson? You’re pretty kick ass already. [she smiles warmly]
I always go for lesson. Never pass the opportunity to learn it, yes? [She grins cheerfully at the woman before pulling her knife and pointing it at the training dummy.] Show me how you do this.
Alright.
[Kris stands outside right next to one of the mannequins and pokes at the thick layer of bubble wrap that she’s taped to it’s face until the bubble under her finger pops and she does her best to stifle a laugh at the simple action. She takes her hand away from the bubble wrap when she sees Araceli making her way towards her] Hey, there. [she says with a small smile and a slight wave]
Alo Kris! [Araceli greets the woman warmly. She comes to stand next to her, eyeing the dummy in front of her. It'll do.] I am ready for to be teached.
...
[Layla rubs at her face at groans, her voice still thick and scratchy from sleep.] Nope, no I’m up. I promise. [Forcing her eyes open she tilts her head at the woman.] Do I know you?
[Araceli grins happily, walking over to stand over the woman, sticking her hand out in greeting.] My name is Araceli Maceo. I am from Colombia.
...
[Layla lay sprawled across the floor haphazardly. Days of scattered sleep had finally caught up to her and she’d been unable to stay awake another minute. Now she was on the floor of one of the back offices, her axe still in her hand and body looking like it should be outlined in chalk. At the sound of footsteps, she groggily opens her eyes.] I’m up. [she says weakly, though the slightly glazed look on her face would argue that point.]
[Araceli pauses at the woman's words as she walks by. She tips her head curiously at the lady on the ground.] You do not look, eh, up.
