“Lucky-San and I are working on map making right now the old park maps should be looked at again shouldn’t they? I thought I should try something that would give me some time to reflect, but it’s really kind of tedious and I don’t want to bother Serval-chan with something like that, so i’m going back to the Savannah to meet back up when i’m done.” She offered a sort of tired smile. Kaban was extremely obvious to any meaning in either’s words than what was immediate, especially about Serval-chan. She slipped her backpack off and after fishing around for a moment, pulled out a notebook and handed it to Raccoon. Her maps were pretty rudimentary for now, but the reference points seemed more useful to friends than to park guests so she was trying. The fact that Raccoon had some much confidence in her though was sort of energizing. She was a good morale boaster.
“I was also hoping to find useful human things if I could.”
“Oooh~...” Both of them let out a sound of amazement.
“As expected of Kaban-san!” Raccoon replies confidently. “You’re doing park guide stuff! For the park!”
“Amazing, Kaban-san~.” Fennec pipes up as well. She picks up on Kaban’s fatigue instantly, and her smile turns sympathetic. Before she can say anything, though, Raccoon speaks for the both of them:
“We can help you, noda! If there’s anything you need, Kaban-san, just leave it to Raccoon-san, nanoda! Fennec’ll help too, right?”
“That’s right~.”
Raccoon accepts Kaban’s notebook graciously and flips through it with gusto. Her eyes are still shining from before, but if it’s possible, she looks even more excited to be looking at Kaban’s work.
“Useful human things, huh~,” Fennec says aloud.
“Like the round thing!” Raccoon exclaims. “Raccoon-san is really good at finding human things, noda! Let’s go together!! Do you want to go to the Library? Maybe we can ask the Professor, nanoda!”
“And books are very human-like, right?” Fennec adds. “If we go to the Library, maybe we’ll find something there. Is that kind of what you’re looking for~?”
Even in their conversations, it seems Fennec and Raccoon complement each other a lot, but even if Raccoon eagerly pushes forward and expects Fennec’s agreement by default, they’re both unanimous in their desire to help the tired park guide.
“Just tell us what you’d like to do and we’ll follow you, Kaban-san~,” Fennec concludes.
Kaban had left Serval back in the Savannah for a little bit and decided she should start off with something that would give her a lot of time to think about how she should proceed with being a park guide. She feels like, she feels like Mirai-san probably had to study a lot before she got the job, it was easy to feel kind of nervous, but she figured she needed to start somewhere so she was walking the the trails in the jungle area so that she could familiarize herself with them, but it seemed, that she was just now remembering that don’t animals usually make trails naturally.. hmmm her thoughts as she stood at the little crossroads were interrupted by a familiar face in the distance and then another.
“Racoon-san! Fennec-san! it’s good to see you again! but why in a place like this? is there some sort of treasure that’s been left in the jungle? I’d be happy to help, you look if you’d like. I’ve been walking back and forth for a few days now.” It was good to see someone that she knows. Not that Lucky-san wasn’t good company, but it was a little strange to talk to someone who didn’t have a face anymore.., not that she really could hold that against him, he didn’t really seem to mind.
Both Fennec and Raccoon perk up when they hear a familiar voice.
Immediately, two things happen: Raccoon instantly lets go of Fennec’s wrist and takes off straight for the human, and Fennec wears a knowing smile along with the thought ‘I knew it.’
They had encountered Kaban much more quickly than she’d anticipated, but in their adventures, Kaban was always there.
Fortunately, Raccoon wasn’t the only one who liked Kaban. Fennec also found her very interesting-- Kaban was capable of accomplishing a lot of things, after all. And even if she and Raccoon had played a part, it was really Kaban who had saved Japari Park.
No wonder Raccoon respected her so much.
“It’s Kaban-san, nanoda!!” In her excitement, it doesn’t take long for the Raccoon Friend to reach the other girl. Skidding to a stop in front of her, Raccoon-san clenches her fists, plants them under her chin, and assumes a starry-eyed demeanor.
“Fennec and I were just on another adventure, exploring the park, noda!” she answers enthusiastically. Her entire body radiating her excitement, she eagerly turns the question around: “What about you, Kaban-san?! What new, helpful thing did you come up with now, nanoda?!” From the way Raccoon speaks of her, it’s clear she has a lot of faith in the park guide.
Fennec obviously doesn’t want to be left out, as her voice is the next to speak up:
“Kaban-saan~. Hello~.” Having trailed behind Raccoon, the Fennec Fox Friend is finally close enough to be heard, and she stops right beside her partner. “Where’s Serval~? Isn’t she usually with you~?”
There’s a bit of a teasing smile in her expression as she asks this, but it’s not easy to decipher its meaning. Fennec, after all, always enjoys teasing her friends, so when it comes to what she’s thinking of, it’s typically hard to tell.
From their reactions to Kaban, though, it’s very clear: the AraFene duo is very pleased to see her.
“I can’t believe this, nanoda! Kaban-san really wasn’t a hat thief after all, nanoda!!” Interrupting the quiet stillness of a warm yet somewhat dry sunny day, a girl can be heard venting her frustrations to her closest friend standing right beside her.
“All of that time wasted on nothing!” Raccoon is so frustrated that she’s close to tears, so even though Fennec usually lets things happen, she speaks up when her friend finally lapses into an angry silence.
“Now, now, Raccoon-saan~.” Fennec’s voice, calm and drawn out, sounds extra understanding. “But we found her and cleared up the misunderstanding, didn’t we~? And we also traveled across the park and got to see so many nice things and meet so many different Friennds~. I wouldn’t say it’s for nothingg~...”
Raccoon pauses to consider the fox’s words. As quick to recover as always, a smile slowly starts to make its way onto her face as she takes that idea in.
“Fennec... You’re right, nanoda! We got to see all of Japari Park, and we even saved the park from the giant Cellien, noda! I even got to meet Kaban-san... Maybe it wasn’t for nothing after all!”
Raccoon’s recovery is so quick that one might question why she was temporarily frustrated at all, but Fennec-- obviously used to this --just stands there smiling as usual.
“That gives me an idea, noda!” As if she totally wasn’t just crying a few seconds ago, Raccoon’s eyes light up, like she’s found the rarest treasure in the world.
“I know, Fennec! Since we were in a rush earlier, we should go back and explore the places we had to pass through, nanoda! That way, we’ll know more about Japari Park!” Puffing her chest out and placing a hand over it, the Raccoon Friend can’t help but also add: “As the park’s protector and most famous Friend, I have to discover all of the park’s secrets to save it from ruin!”
Already expecting her companion’s agreement, Raccoon doesn’t hesitate for a second before grabbing Fennec’s wrist and starting to run off in some random direction--
“Let’s go, nanoda! We ended our journey at the amusement park, so let’s go backwards to the lounge, noda!”
“That’s the wrong way, you knowww~?” Fennec doesn’t resist as she’s dragged away, nor does she stumble at all when Raccoon predictably turns around and abruptly changes their direction. She would’ve followed Raccoon even if the latter wasn’t pulling her along, so she just watches with amusement as Raccoon leads the both of them on yet another adventure-- this time to thoroughly explore all of Japari Park and discover its “secrets”, as the shorter girl enthusiastically said.
Kaban-san, huhh... Fennec can’t help but think they’re going to stumble across her again while on their newest journey.
Name: Common Raccoon (Raccoon-san/Miss Raccoon in English; Araiguma/Arai-san in Japanese)
Gender: Female
Personality: A determined, energetic, and hotheaded Friend. She’s brash and often acts without thinking, but she is always well-meaning, trying to do what is right for the park that she lives in (Japari Park). Her self-esteem is very high– almost to the point where she can be called arrogant –but it is frail enough to break apart should something happen, and she often seeks praise and recognition from others. (Someone who was completely self-assured wouldn’t seek approval as much as Raccoon does; nor would they be as concerned with fame.) Although she can be rather thoughtless and reckless, her passion and energy more than make up for it, inspiring her friend Fennec to follow her in the first place. Even if she runs into trouble, Raccoon will never give up, and she will give everything her unwavering all.
Name: Fennec Fox
Gender: Female
Personality: Probably considered the polar opposite of Raccoon, Fennec is calm, intelligent, and patient. Rather than charging into things headfirst like Raccoon does, Fennec usually lags behind and observes the situation before going to meet it. She is kind, usually helping Raccoon (out of holes) and agreeing with everything her excitable friend says, but she also likes teasing her, calling out to her when Fennec is one step ahead of her and sometimes even ruthlessly criticizing Raccoon’s ideas. Despite this, it is clear she cares a lot about Raccoon, as she is willing to “play along”, loyally following Raccoon on whatever adventure she leads. Although Fennec doesn’t usually stop Raccoon from getting into trouble, Fennec is the one who typically gets her out of it, revealing her helpfulness there. In practical matters or things that require physical exertion, Fennec does not usually help much, typically leaving all of that work to Raccoon. When Raccoon is in trouble, though, that’s when Fennec acts, transforming from the observant bystander to the intelligent, helpful partner you can rely on. A very “my pace” and laidback kind of character in their relationship, Fennec is the smart one who corrects Raccoon’s blunders when Raccoon inevitably gets into trouble. In the end, though, Fennec is willing to follow Raccoon to the ends of the world.

For the most part, I plan to be roleplaying Raccoon and Fennec, post-by-post! You can roleplay with Fennec, Raccoon, or both! Although I love the other characters of Kemono Friends, let’s stick mostly with them!
I’m fine with a variety of forms: one-line rp, paragraph rp, magic anon, ask rp, and so on! Please check my rules for the specifics about that last named one! Message rp is fine with me for the most part, but I don’t really like tumblr’s tiny little messenger, so we’d have to move from here. I’d like to mostly stay in tumblr though! (I made this blog for that purpose, haha)
I’m non-selective! I don’t really care who I rp with as long as I have fun rping/give these two dorks more people to interact with! My only condition is you please follow my rules! They’re not too strict, so this shouldn’t be a problem! ^^
This blog can also function as an ask blog! If you want to ask these two questions, I’ll sometimes answer with a drawing if I feel like it! That’s because I’ve always wanted to make a long-lasting ask blog of the two, so that’s why that’s included! I don’t think I’ll be able to draw all of my answers, though, because drawing takes time! That’s why I’m also roleplaying them. ^^
Be nice! Your character can act however you want them to with mine, but please be civil and respectful to me, the roleplayer! In return, I’ll be the same with you! What that means is don’t demand replies, don’t demand my time, and so on! Roleplaying should be fun and pleasant– it’s not when it becomes a part-time or even full-time job. :c I’ll reply in time, so let me take it…!
No smut! Even if the mun is older than 18, I have no desire to roleplay sexual things (because it makes me uncomfortable), and stuff like that isn’t what I have in mind when roleplaying these characters. Do not pressure me to do anything I don’t like– this is a hard rule.
Please don’t reblog my rp posts– especially if it’s with another person! This obviously does not apply if the person I’m roleplaying with is you (go ahead and reblog with your reply, because how else do I expect you to reply to me? xD), but if you’re not personally involved, reblogging my posts is kinda… weird. Especially if you have nothing to contribute. Liking my posts is okay (as long as the other person is okay with it too), but let’s leave it at that! You can like my info posts, memes, and so on, but don’t reblog them; please keep them here where they belong! This does not apply to Araifenne askblog posts– reblog away. ^^
Proper roleplaying rules apply, like don’t control/kill my character, don’t metagame (have your character know something they shouldn’t/they weren’t told), don’t manipulate the situation so that it’s wildly unfair (unless your character is already like that), etc. etc. I don’t mind variety and it’s almost certain my characters will be weaker than yours (they’re not exactly warriors, even if they can fight), but if you break the rules/abuse things so that that can happen, it isn’t so fun any more, is it?
None of the art I use is mine, unless otherwise stated. I’ll try my best to credit everyone, and outside of roleplaying, I never use other people’s artwork without permission, but if you see your art here and want it taken down, let me know! I’ll take it down immediately for you! Over time, I’ve just accepted art use in roleplaying as better representing our imaginations/adding to our fun, but I’ll say right here and right now that I don’t own any of these images, even if I really like them and really want to. I don’t condone art theft, and I don’t claim ownership. Thank you for understanding. ( >< ;; )
