Watercolour and ink

Aurore, France Procrastinator, amateur artist, lover of watercolor. I'm trying to use tumblr as a way to get motivation to draw more, but I'm not sure it's working.

Beach in watercolour, postcard sized. I was not really inspired - you can find a lot of these “beach waves” painting all over the internet - but it was still fun to paint. I used masking fluid to keep the sea foam white, no gouache.

In France, mother’s day is in 9 days, and my mother is new favourite colour is blue, so that seemed fitting. 😊

Plage à l’aquarelle, taille carte postale. Pas super inspiré, on trouve ce genre de peinture plein l’internet, mais marrant à faire quand même. Pas de gouache blanche pour l’écume mais du drawing gum pour garder le blanc du papier.

La fête des mères est bientôt ici, et ma mère aime le bleu en ce moment, donc voilà... 😊

Pleinairpril 2020 

It’s been only 9 days but it feels so much longer! It was hard but I enjoyed doing this challenge. I think I’ve improved a lot with it too. What was your favorite? :)

Watercolour of the seaside. Not a specific place but an imaginary version of places I know, like here (but seen from the left, behind the beach).

Aquarelle de bord de mer. Une version de tête/imaginaire de la Grève Blanche à Trégastel. (Je sais qu’il y a des herbes avant la plage, mais j’ai un doute pour les oeillets marins. Bon de toute façon ça peut correspondre à plein d’endroits en Bretagne)

Hummingbird, watercolour and ink pen. 

The sort of “mandala” patterns where fun to make, it’s been ages since I drew something in that style.

Flowers in the wind, black ink & gold ink. 

A quick sketch, to see if I can get a decent photo of golden ink. And I can! Well, as long as I take photos with a weird angle to capture the reflections ^_^

Black cat hiding, watercolour test.

This one is a bit special because it was a test of some super cheap watercolour paper that I found. I mean, 1.80€ for twenty 21x29cm 300g/m² sheets? Really? Really?!

The paper has some disadvantages, and I won’t do masterpieces with it, but it’s pretty good for small drafts, or “carefree painting”.

I mean, painting feels way way easier when you’re not scared of messing some very expensive paper.

I need to work on details, and face. It’s too mushy for my taste here, but I still decided to post it. Hopefully I’ll do better next time ^_^’

(I nearly forgot a letter and wrote “cod press paper”... that would have smelt weird 😆)

Abstract ink (with India ink and gold ink).

I tried to simulate the “poured paint” stuff you see everywhere, I though it looked fun. But the gold ink doesn’t scan well so.. the weird brownish textured paint is golden in reality, I swear :D

Houses at night.

This is actually a watercolour from last year, but I got so annoyed by the difficulty of taking good photos of my art (that ended up looking bad) that I stopped posting.

Now, this a scan, not a super good one but it was a hundred time easier, weehee.

I cheated by increasing the contrast as the painting was too light for my taste.

Kneading cat - another small animation made with Krita.

Sleepy cat, yawning cat - done with Krita. Drawing an animation is ... hard but not as bad as I feared.

Chat endormi qui baille - fait avec Krita. Dessiner une animation est difficile mais pas aussi difficile que je ne le craignait.

Encore du numérique, aaah, non je n’ai pas laissé tomber l’aquarelle pourtant. Un petit rouge gorge rondouillet pour se protéger du froid. Cette fois c’est fait avec Krita. 

Some more digital work, but no I didn’t give up on watercolors. This time a plump red robin, painted with Krita.

Roches flottantes. Du dessin numérique pour une fois, du vectoriel avec ajout de texture (logiciels: inkscape + gimp).

Levitating rocks. Digital work for once, vector with a bit of texture added. (softwares: inkscape + gimp).
