❝ … dana. ❞ she begins in a near exasperated tone, a tone that makes it clear to the girl she strides down the hallway with that she’s about to lecture her. she slows then brings said girl to a gentle halt, unlinking their arms so she can take her by her shoulders and turn her to face herself. ❝ you don’t owe that … bottom feeder a thing. you don’t owe anyone anything. you owe it to yourself to know your worth and hold out for someone that’s going to treat you how you deserve to be treated. ❞
❝ you’re, like, one of my best friends these days, dude, and i don’t want my best friend with someone who’s known to be a douchebag. ❞ at the end of the day, rachel is well aware that it’s dana’s life, and that she has no say in her choices. she’s going to go for logan if she truly wants to go for logan, no matter the amount of earfuls she receives from rachel, and no matter the intensity of those earfuls. thus a sigh can be heard. she pulls dana into a short lived side hug, small grin intact. keeps her arm loosely wrapped around her shoulders as she starts on the path they were on before she made them stop.
❝ mrs. robertson or not, i adore and love you so … but my love for you won’t keep me from side-eyeing him if and whenever i see him, nor will it keep me from giving him the ‘ you hurt my girl, i hurt you ’ talk. ❞ she teased gently. ❝ … and believe me, i won’t be hoping for things to go south, but if they do? you know where to find me. you call and i’ll be there with a shoulder to cry on and a tub of ice cream … ❞
there’s a tonal shift in rachel’s voice that makes a tiny smile form on dana’s limps. here rachel goes, slowing them to a stop near the wall of the hallway and grabbing her shoulders. dana rolls her head to the side, giving her friend a small smirk as her hands nervously wring. it grows in size when rachel calls logan a bottom feeder. and what sucks is, she’s not wrong, but the big banner ahead of them, above them, advertising homecoming makes dana’s face fall a bit.
❛ you’re right, as usual, but don’t let it go to your head, little miss leo. i just ... i don’t know. i feel weird. like, nobody has talked to me about going to homecoming together. and you know i love you, and i love juliet, but it would be nice to go to homecoming with somebody who asked me. like a date or something. i dunno. it probably sounds stupid. ❜
dana lets herself fall into the short - lived hug, sighing out hard before pulling herself back and moving alongside rachel once more. her face changes into a grimace once she’s called mrs. robertson. ❛ eugh, maybe this won’t work out. dana elizabeth robertson. totally does not work. and he is definitely not the type to take my last name. ❜ she bumps her shoulder into rachel’s, moving to push open the door leading to blackwell’s front quad for the other girl to pass through. ❛ maybe i’ll get let him take me to homecoming. that’s all. and i’ll end up having to settle for junior prom, but c’est la vie. speaking of homecoming ... has anybody brought you up to speed on the cheer routine? ❜
