Yahoo Groups? Yes, We’re Still Saving Them. Stay Tuned!
In 2019, #Verizon shut down #YahooGroups. While the #ArchiveTeam focused on saving as many groups across the board, #transformative #fandom took on the task of saving our communities.
A new Yahoo Groups #Dreamwidth community has been started where you can keep up with the progress of the Yahoo Gedden Rescue Team as they process and add metadata to the (gulp) million groups they saved
https://yahoogroups.dreamwidth.org/
From 2020:“Between the #ArchiveTeam volunteers and the Yahoo Groups Fandom Rescue Project, we saved 960,233 unique groups through Yahoo’s GetMyData method (not counting what was saved through the Python script and PGOffline). Wow! And hopefully some more is yet to come as there are a few people who have promised to send us their GMDs but haven’t yet.”
“How much of that is #fandom? At this point, all I can estimate is “somewhere around 300,000?” It is really impossible to know yet. I finished working on the metadata and will be uploading it soon, and sometime next spring (I hope!) we might begin on the more finely-detailed analysis that would let us identify individual fandoms and all of that.“
The project is ongoing & volunteers will be needed
11/22 update: "As of this evening, it’s up to 12.39% sorted & 0.99% tagged.”
“A big call for volunteers won’t go out until I have all tabs prepped & ready to go, but if you or someone you know is detail-oriented and likes the idea of helping out, limited numbers of volunteers can be used right now, as indeed a couple of them have been hard at work for months tagging tabs & fleshing out any bugs in the tagging process.”
In late 2019, fans assembled to save Yahoo Groups after Verizon decided to shut down the mailing list service. Approximately 300,000 fandom groups have been saved. The Yahoo Gedden project has reached the fandom identification stage and can use your help. We need to identify the fandom for each group so that the data can be sorted by fandom. You can work at your own pace and the work will be done via a shared Google Sheet. No software or other tools needed besides your phone/computer and access to the Internet..

Pairings/Characters: Merlin/Arthur
Rating: NC-17
Word Count: 51,102
Note: Written for the Merlin Reverse Bang Fest
Summary: College sweethearts while at Cambridge University, Merlin is in the Department of English studying the works of E.M. Forster. Arthur is studying economics, readying himself to take his place at Pendragon Holdings. After a bitter breakup, Arthur travels to Rome on business. When he isn't consumed with work, the setting invariably elicits thoughts of a happier time when he and Merlin were still together. Everywhere he looks, he sees Merlin, even in the faces of Bernini's angels on the Ponte Sant'Angelo. Are they truly over or can they somehow still find their happy ending?

Earlier this year, I got super into podfics. They're great for my commute or when I'm doing busy work on the computer. A problem I ran into, however, is that they're scattered all over the place--on AO3, http://audiofic.jinjurly.com/, various Live Journal and Dreamwidth communities, Tumblr. I found a list of Merlin Podfics at Fanlore.org, but it's very outdated. Using all these resources, I've compiled a spreadsheet of all the Merlin Podfics I could find.
Many are no longer available and all the links are dead. If you scroll to the right of the spreadsheet, you'll see which are missing. If you happen to have one of these missing podfics saved on your hard drive somewhere, I'd love to get a copy!! If you see any mistakes, I'd love it if you could drop me a note so I can correct them. With a list this long, there's bound to be some typos.
I've also included a column titled "Heard." I use this column to keep track of which ones I've listened to and which ones I've left feedback on. Podficcers only get a fraction of the love fic writers do. I'm sure it's mostly because people download a few podfics on their phone and don't have the links handy when they're done to leave kudos or comments. Each podfic on the list has links for both the podfic and the story, so you can go back and give some love when you have time.
I hope other people find this useful! I've got spreadsheets for several other fandoms to follow, but they still need to be cleaned up. Eventually, I'll post ones for Harry Potter, 1D, TSN, SKAM (which only had 4 podfics I could find! lol) and Supernatural (which I'm still working on. SPN has THOUSANDS of podfics!!). Thanks for any help you can give with missing podfics!
MERLIN PODFICS
tr*mp just called trans people a burden on twitter……… like it was nothing……….. like it was just a normal thing to say in front of millions of people…… …. ……,, don’t tell me again he doesn’t use every opportunity to strip away rights from those who need it the most
and to my trans followers, you are not a burden. don’t let this rotten carrot get in the way of letting you shine, fuck 45 and fuck all of his supporters. they ain’t nothing compared to how ethereal and beautiful y'all are 💕💕💕💕
Transgender people are not burdens. They’re people. If someone is willing to put they’re life on the line for their country, they should be able to do so. No matter what. I stand with you.
The White House has decided to not include Gauthier Destenay, the first gentleman of Luxembourg. Destenay, who is married to openly gay Luxembourg Prime Minister Xavier Bettel, is the only name not included by the White House in this caption.
I am unable to comprehend the level to which this country has lowered itself. I cannot actually believe that we are now pretending gay people do not exist. The pathetic and reasonless place that the United States has gone takes away any pride I have to be an American. Every time I start to find forgiveness in my heart for those who voted for this administration, something like this happens and it reminds me exactly why they earned the nickname they have: DEPLORABLES. Pathetic. Stupid. Ignorant.
We are literally pretending that the first Gentleman of a country doesn’t exist. Just think about how worthless you have to be to stand for this.
House Republicans just passed Trumpcare. So what’s next?
Things this bill does:
Only covers 5% of people with pre-existing conditions.
Exempts Congress from the worst parts of this bill, though they say they’ll fix that.
Lets insurers once again put annual and lifetime limits on coverage for people with employer plans, effectively ends Medicaid expansion, leaves gaps in benefits, threatens Medicaid home- and community-based services for people with disabilities, and more.
The bill goes on to the Senate, where many are saying it’s dead on arrival. Regardless, we need to send a message to House Republicans that they’ll pay for their “YES” votes by losing their seats. Here’s what you can do:
Use Contacting Congress to find out who represents you in the House.
If your representative voted “YES” [here’s the list]: Use Contacting Congress to call their office and tell them you disapprove of their vote.
Whether your representative voted yes or not, do the following:
Donate to SwingLeft’s campaign to raise funds for Democratic challengers to the 35 swing district Republicans who voted for TrumpCare.
Use Town Hall Project to find out if your representative is holding a town hall during recess. So far, only 6 of the 217 are.
Sign up to volunteer for SwingLeft and/or check out Indivisible Guide for more actions for you to take.
After you’ve done that, you can contact your Senators. Use the same website listed first above (Contacting Congress) to find your two Senators. Give them a call, show up at their town halls, and donate to their Democratic opponents if they indicate that they’ll vote for TrumpCare.
The only way we’re going to take down this bill is if we keep the pressure on the GOP and let them know that voting for it will result in them losing their seats.
Find out if you’re registered to vote. If not, find out how to.
Here are some answers to some questions you might have about registering.
Student voters: This is for you.

Special Elections coming up:
Montana At-Large: Vote for Quist - May 25th
Georgia’s 6th District: Vote for Ossoff - June 20th
South Carolina’s 5th District: Vote for Parnell - June 20th
Most other midterms are November 6th, 2018. Get ready.
Please call your House representative today and demand they vote to save the ACA. The Senate GOP voted last night to start the repeal process. With the GOP majority across the board, we cannot afford to be lax on this!
Call your rep! Call 202-224-3121, follow the prompts, and enter your zip code to be connected to your rep’s office. Make sure you talk to a live person and they log your call! They should ask for your name, address, and zip to verify your constituency.
The House votes **tomorrow (1/13).**
Boots on the ground, people! We have to do this work!

If you post any pro-GOP and/or anti-Obama shit here, I’m blocking you. Warning.
OPINION | Foster Campbell can win the runoff in Louisiana.
If you listen to nothing else, please listen to this. There will be a run-off Senate election on Dec 10th in Louisiana, and the Democrats have a shot at winning. If they could get that one seat, it would flip the Senate 51-49 in their favor, and keep the GOP from having complete control of Congress. This is HUGE. This is whether or not SCOTUS Judges get approved, whether or not Bills get passed.
That thing going around about pressuring electors to name Clinton President over Trump is never going to happen. Ever. But this is a thing that actually could. If you know anybody who knows anybody who lives in Louisiana, pressure them to vote for Foster Campbell. Pay for their cab to the polls! Hell, donate to their campaign! This is not fear mongering or hyperbole when I say this last race is life or death for millions of people.
Democrats have one final shot to flip a Senate seat – but in order to pull off an upset, they need to quickly rally around the Louisiana candidate whose victory could be a bright spot in an otherwise dismal year. Public Service Commissioner – and jovial cattle farmer – Foster Campbell will face off against Republican State Treasurer John Kennedy, a twice-failed Senate candidate, in a Dec. 10 runoff.
On the surface, it might seem like a lost cause: A Democrat running a statewide campaign in Louisiana in the Year of Trump. On the contrary, though, Campbell has a legitimate shot to upset his opponent the same way Democratic Gov. John Bel Edwards did in 2015. Yes, Louisiana has a Democratic governor. He’s busy at the moment cleaning up the fiscal mess left by his predecessor, failed presidential candidate and Kenneth-the-Page avatar Bobby Jindal.
Edwards pulled off an upset in part because of Jindal’s failures, and in part because he ran against, a less-than-charismatic politician tainted by a bygone prostitution scandal. But Edwards prevailed not only as an anti-Jindal and anti-Vitter. As an Army veteran with family law enforcement ties and a calm demeanor, he was a strong candidate in his own right.
Campbell, too, is a good bet; he has a wicked sense of humor and speaks plainly. During a recent debate, he rebutted false allegations of ties to ex-KKK leader David Duke, saying, “I have nothing in common with David Duke other than we’re probably breathing.”
Democrats who feel frustrated, fearful, and angry following Donald J. Trump’s upset win, listen up: Go donate $5 to Campbell’s campaign. If you’re in Louisiana, vote for him on Dec. 10. If you know someone in Louisiana, spread the word. Help raise money and awareness for Campbell.
Electing Foster Campbell is the most immediate way to rebuke President-elect Trump. A Campbell victory would mean a 51-49 split in the Senate. This is the last best way to make a difference in 2016.
Campbell is a fighter. During his career, he’s fought for ethics reform, lower energy rates for rural consumers, and for victims of domestic violence. Guided by a love of family and a deep-seated faith, he fights for the little man – and woman.
He can win. Repeat that over and over until you take action. The national Republican apparatus is gearing up to defeat him, and you can make a difference.
Campbell is a man of the people; Kennedy is counting on the elite. This year alone, he was the beneficiary of $400,000 from a political action committee funded by one Chicago family.
Campbell doesn’t have a Chicago sugar daddy; he has gumption. Fight for Foster.
