Susan eyed the piece with mild concern before she took it between her thumb and forefinger. Sheâd heard Alice talk about the mushroom before, and she figured itâd be a little rude to turn it down, especially after it was broken just for her. Even if she was a little unsure.Â
She made certain to shoot Alice one more skeptical look as she ate what she was offered. And sheâ oh, geez, she felt weird.
Within a moment the trees were rocketing up past Susanâs head, the ground rushing to meet her. It didnât quite feel like falling, but it didnât feel good, at all. As quickly as it had started, her descent halted, just more than five feet from the forest floor. And eye-to-eye with Alice.
âWhat!â Of all the expletives that came to mind, only that reached her lips. She hadnât expected that to work, she hadnât expected it to do anything! And from her new vantage point, the now looming forest did nothing to ease her.Â
âIsnât it great?â Alice giggles, shrugging slightly at the other. âFive feet high is such a lovely height to be.â She brushes off her skirt, and adjusts the sword upon her belt, âDonât worry, Susan, the effects will wear off in time.â
Another small laugh, as she begins to walk, âFollow me!â She grins, âIâve got to show you around,â Alice could certainly think of plenty places to take Susan. But the first stop would have to be the Hatterâs for tea, it was almost tea time after all. And Alice was always invited, and she would invite Susan, and theyâd have a wonderful unbirthday, Alice was sure of it!
âJust mind your step, wouldnât want to step on the mome raths, after all.â Alice gestures to the ground, small furry pig like creatures run past them, âMuch easier to walk around when youâre my height, much less dangerous for others, more dangerous for you--Luckily, you have me though.â
