TONKS
there is a mild sense of relief as tonks recognizes the younger wizard’s face. she hasn’t spent a lot of time with him, but if she has to be around anyone—she’s glad it’s a hufflepuff alumnus. though, if she’s honest with herself, she wishes she could just be alone. tonks runs a hand through her hair to get it out of her face before she speaks, ❝ it’s quite alright, te— ❞ her words are cut short when the connection’s made. teddy. his name is, ❝ teddy. ❞ long lashes flutter as half her body falls numb. pins and needles run up her her arms, though she can hardly feel it. the card in her hand sways to the ground. her eyes carefully trail back to teddy ; her chest swells with emotions she’s never felt felt before. ❝ it’s you, isn’t it ? ❞ she asks, voice as gentle as a silk. ❝ you’re him, you’re that teddy—aren’t you ? ❞
CONFUSION TAKES TEDDY when tonks’ words fall short. he thinks something big must have happened- something bad. but he would have never think it had anything to do with him, but that all changes when he hears his name. the way she says it. the weight behind it. goosebumps wash over teddy’s skin. is it finally happening? is his mum finally remembering him? teddy releases a shaky breath. ❛ if by ‘that teddy’, you mean your- your son. then . . . y-yeah, that’d be me. ❜ he confirms. he tries to sound casual but as usual, he’s failing. a smile breaks across his face and clashes with his anxiety. he’s terrified but so happy. ❛ i . . . i have to admit, i’m a bit shell shocked. i was beginning to think you’d never remember. ❜
