"Twenty One Things You Don't Say To A Transsexual" written by Riki Anne Wilchins in TransSisters : The Journal Of Transsexual Feminism (Winter 1994)
in the dungeon you will have to face a monster with the nose of a tiger, the teeth of a tiger, the ears of a tiger the eyes of a tiger , the cheeks of a tiger , the neck of a tiger, the torso of a tiger, the arms of a tiger, the paws of a tiger, the belly of a tiger the back of a tiger, the the legs of a tiger, the claws of a tiger, the ankles of a tiger, the tail of the tiger, the mind of a tiger, and the power of a tiger
I have to ask: what's the genital situation tho?
It's actually crazy how much you didn't have to ask
I’m reading this book about the changing arctic and the author stayed with the Nunamiut people of inland alaska for a while and talked to this high school kid who was like “ugh I hate going to school in the spring I wish I was hunting caribou” and I thought that was charming. you often hear about people who are devoted to preserving their traditional culture and knowledge but it’s rare to hear about someone who’s invested in the old ways out of pure teenage selfishness. school is lame and hunting caribou is awesome
have you ever watched a movie and lowkey wanted to sit the filmmaker down and say "that was an inside thought"
the new fantasy genre, popehunk, encompasses all books in which historical figures responsible for real atrocities are presented as sexy and potentially suffering from a cute lil' anxiety disorder

ah, posts that look like a shitpost but are actually perfectly true, my love.
none of us* escape the fact that our comforts rely on the exploitation of others. who among us reads about the Omelas child and does not think to themselves "I would walk away" or "I would save the child." how many imagine themselves as a noble and brave dissident? but, then again, did you actually walk away? even within the narrative, walking away means leaving behind all amenities and joys of Omelas.
in our lives, we learn to ignore the tortured child. our clothes, fuel, food, entire infrastructure of our modern world depends at least in part on the exploited labor and hurt of others, including real children.
"Those Who Walk Away from Omelas" touches on an internal, frightening truth we sometimes realize about our world: it doesn't have to be this way. the amount of suffering and torment required for Omelas (and Earth) to thrive is 0, actually.
untangling ourselves from the web of torment means effectively walking into the unknown. what is there beyond a world that asks us to accept senseless cruelty? if we stop the machines, let loose the hunched and pained laborers, then there will be suffering. how expensive are clothes when each person in the supply chain has labor rights? are there tomatoes year round? will the suffering come to you, too, this upended order? will the rich grow calloused and bitter as the underling? is that not adding suffering to the world?
the luxury of Omelas is that everyone sees the child and understands their place in this twisted order. we live in a place that doesn't dare to look. hides, in fact, the tiny bodies, the scared sobs.
the tarot card The Tower depicts a frightening scene. the bodies falling bring me back to being a small child watching 9/11 overtake the TV. the suicides. the adults around me whispering that it was the only sensible choice given the circumstances. yet, like the Death card, its surface terror belies its hopefulness. the tower will topple. the change will be violent. it will unmake the tranquil world you imagined.
so yes, removing the Omelas child will topple the block tower. maybe the new tower will never be as tall or complex. but, crucially, it will miss a piece that never needed to go there.
your hope must exceed your fear.

* I suppose some people live in the wilderness eating turnips they grew and wearing handspun clothes. This is not about them.
((this is a pretty surface read imo and honestly if I get any piss on the poors about this I'm going to climb into your bathroom and do something subtle but devastating to the inner workings of your home. ))
During a high speed car chase pursuit, the FOX 11 Los Angeles helicopter had an unexpected moment when they spotted a rooster and a chicken casually walking down the sidewalk right in the middle of the pursuit.
The fact that they were walking 1-3mph
His joy and whimsy at seeing this
His acknowledgement of it not being as interesting as the chase
His little "huh" cuz you know they told him to focus

The US is detransitioning prisoners and just announced that ICE can detain trans people on suspicion of visa fraud. The UK just banned all care for trans kids and is now conducting an "evidence review" into HRT for trans adults and now the biggest DIY HRT web resource just went down.
Trans people need to learn solidarity yesterday, we need to be ready to organise together and set aside anything that we need to in order to get our shit sorted out. Cis people need to take it seriously that the fascists are trying to completely extinguish transess from existence
One immediate step you can take if you're tech literate is try to personally back up as much DIY information from the internet as possible. We need to confront the fact that the internet is American dominated and primarily American-owned and in a larger sense owned and operated by capital primarily. For the informational resources of the internet to benefit human beings we have to deliberately make choices to structure it that way, and in the age of Palantir that largely means thinking about parallel informational infrastructure, setting up another internet or at least other communication systems.
If we want to preserve life saving information, information that aligns with reality over fascism information that is useful, beautiful and true to human beings and ugly and inconvenient to capital, first we have to make backups
