The Complete Poems of Emily Dickinson: ‘479′ c. 1862
[ID: To ache is human]
What is your favourite small, painfully human gesture?
and also if we can just:
“There is only one question: how to love this world.”
— Mary Oliver, from House of Light; Spring.
Otterly marbleous

the human stress response seems so maladaptive!
To be fair 99% of our evolutionary stress response was meant to deal with far more immediately conclusive scenarios than the tedious bullshit we put up with these days.

Sometimes I wonder, if I were a marrigable character in a video game, would people actually be like yeah I wanna woo this idiot or would I be on those memes people make about what your fave says about you and next to my image it says "go to therapy"

I’ve been trying to find this post again for ages
I love when good people realize they deserve the entire world and stop settling for bullshit
You don’t fear abandonment, loneliness, or not being chosen by another. What you fear is not choosing yourself, not honoring yourself, not making your desires a priority. You fear disappointing yourself. The best gift of revelation is that you can commit to yourself. You don’t need to wait for others to do it.

A murder mystery where every character believes themselves to be responsible for the death, and tries their best to cover it up.
The real kicker is that the guy died from natural causes.
“In an experiment revealing the importance of having friendships, social psychologists have found that perceptions of task difficulty are significantly shaped by the proximity of a friend. In their experimental design, the researchers asked college students to stand at the base of a hill while carrying a weighted backpack and to estimate the steepness of a hill. Some participants stood next to close friends whom they had known a long time, some stood next to friends they had not known for long, and the rest stood alone during the exercise. The students who stood with friends gave significantly lower estimates of the steepness of the hill than those who stood alone. Furthermore, the longer the close friends had known each other, the less steep the hill appeared to the participants involved in the study. In other words, the world looks less difficult when standing next to a close friend.”
— my new favorite psychological study, done by Schnall, Harber, Stefanucci, and Proffitt and published in the Journal of Experimental Social Psychology.
