I love a good gathering place! Especially one that has some history pulsating through it! You can tell this one has some stories to tell!!

When people used to ask me what I did for a living I would always tell them, "I'm a concrete contractor / children's book writer." It would definitely invoke a surprised response but it was always perfectly logical to me. They were both very creative occupations with different forms of expression! This is a presentation of both my careers, concrete and children's books. I was very fortunate to have been given two careers that I really love!!!

A story is not like a road to follow … it’s more like a house. You go inside and stay there for a while, wandering back and forth and settling where you like and discovering how the room and corridors relate to each other, how the world outside is altered by being viewed from these windows. And you, the visitor, the reader, are altered as well by being in this enclosed space, whether it is ample and easy or full of crooked turns, or sparsely or opulently furnished. You can go back again and again, and the house, the story, always contains more than you saw the last time. It also has a sturdy sense of itself of being built out of its own necessity, not just to shelter or beguile you.

I can se it in their eyes:-) Let the children be your guide. If a child doesn't like what you're trying to do, they won't lie and pretend they are interested! Either you have them or you don't! You'll find out fast which one it is!!!

I love it when the parent's show up! It's a good feeling to know that there is a good involvement with their children's education! And I enjoy a good crowd!
