Is anyone else bothered by heterosexual hardenshipping fics? I'll come across fics with really interesting prompts and then the tags will be "Female Maxie" and "Maxine" and what not. Like, why do they keep making him a woman. It feels weird to me that he is always the woman because he isn't the stereotypical man, if that makes any sense. Because he isn't big and macho like Archie. Like, crossdressing is cool and all (and really, I'd do it for both), but it just feels off to me to make the less masculine man the other man's wife. It's also a gay ship, so it feels weird to me to only genderbend one character to make it straight. I don't know. Might just be sensitive.

I haven't come across many fics like that but it does have to do with the trope that many gay ships / yaoi related content fall into. Where one man is presented as the "woman" of the relationship due to being skinny or often less masculine in nature.

I'd go deeper into the reasoning why this happens ( gender stuff , misogyny , medias portrayal of queer couples etc ) but it's 5 am for me. You aren't wrong for being upset about it though
