Only way to properly sculpt the top of Bram's hairline is to put that 150 pound sculpture on the workshop floor and set the tools on the garbage can.

Progress on the Bram Stoker bust! Getting it there!!! Once the hair and beard go on, it’s like the rug in “The Big Lebowski”.....it’ll really tie the room together! ;)
My good friend Guillermo del Toro was kind enouigh to include several pieces of my work at his current LACMA exhibit “At Home With Monsters”, including the life size Poe and Lovecraft busts.
I owe him a lot and you will not find a nicer man on the planet.

Be proud of your scars.
When you look in the mirror and all you see are signs of aging or trauma, be proud.
Crows feet, grey hair, laugh lines.....scars.
It means you made it this far in life and that you survived SOMETHING. Maybe it was a divorce, a death, some kind of loss or just....one bad day where the worst thing imaginable happened to you.
You survived and you weren't beaten. You might have been brought to your knees for a few dark moments, but you stayed on your feet and kept swinging. Bear your pain proudly and never be ashamed of what tried to best you, but couldn't.
Be proud of your scars.

Sculpting a never produced figure of Tony Soprano for a "Soprano's" collectible figure line for Upper Deck Collectibles. HBO passed on the proposal, sadly.
The head of security at Upper Deck kindly donned similar clothes and struck a wiseguy pose and I took turnaround photos for reference. You can see the shrine to James Gandolfini in front of me to nail the likeness.
Good reference is EVERYTHING. (y)

When I'm not sculpting, I'm at the gym. Actually, I'm there EVERY DAY. When you're over 50, you HAVE to maintain good physical health as best as you can if you don't want your body to give out and let old age set in. I have a LONG way to go yet, but that tone wasn't there a few months ago. Yes, it's hard. Yes, it hurts sometimes. But I ALWAYS feel great when I'm done.
I started benching at 20 pounds of three reps. That's all I could do from being out of shape. Now I'm up to 60 pounds of ten reps each. I weigh 200 pounds and I'm determined to be able to bench my body weight.
How long will it take me to get there?
Does it really matter? :)
