even  more  so  now  ,      when  his  world  has  already  collapsed  around  him  and  his  very  values  are  shaken  to  the  core  .         "        i'm  not  really  a  leashed  dog  anymore  who's  satisfied  with  just  a  bit  of  praise  ,        "         he  continues  .        "        if  you  want  a  good  boy  with  all  the  nice  tricks  ,      you  need  to  give  treats  .      that's  the  deal  .        "

"        fine  .      i  guess  it's  my  turn  to  treat  you  ,      anyway  .        "                 chris  says  as  he  wipes  the  remains  of  his  lunch  from  his  face  and  raises  his  hand  for  the  waitress  .      this  was  supposed  to  be  an  official  meeting  between  terrasave  and  the  hound  wolf  squad—   or  as  official  as  it  could  be  ,      given  the  circumstances  and  his  current  status  with  the  bsaa  in  the  united  states  .      but  sometimes  even  important  work  stuff  needs  to  be  put  aside  ,      especially  for  the  rare  times  he  gets  to  see  claire  .

he  doesn't  even  know  when  the  last  time  was  that  she  saw  him  ,      and  the  only  time  he  gets  news  about  her  is  through  reports  his  team  occasionally  passes  his  way     …     or  when  piers  ,      leon  ,      or  ark  are  kind  enough  to  give  him  updates  .

and  there  is  no  better  moment  than  now  to  show  just  how  important  keeping  in  touch  is  .      he  barely  knows  how  to  speak  to  his  sister  anymore  .         "        i'm  getting  dessert  .      you  want  one  ?      and  no  ,      i'm  not  paying  for  yours  .        "
