Honestly, my worries are if things crumble will people be able to get their meds? How long would those meds remain available? Would people be able to get food stamps? Would people still be able to go to doctors appointments?
I've worked at a group home where 3 out of 4 of the guys there couldn't even read. All four couldn't cook. The most they could do was make a sandwich or pour their coffee after we brewed it. One would smear his own shit on himself and the walls if you didn't watch him in the bathroom. Their care was mostly covered by tax dollars. Sure there are employees there, but the employees are not being paid well and when the money to feed them isn't coming in and the employees can't be paid how likely is it that their care would continue? Some of them get so many meds. How well do you think they would fare if we didn't have a system in place before moving and changing shit around?
A lot of things are funded by tax dollars. Do we need a lot more funding? Yes. We need to do so much more! But we have to do it in a way that is strategic to create the least amount of damage.
I would LOVE to live in a classless society. I would ideally love to live in a society where there was no money and all resources were distributed by need. I want a society where people can work if they want to or are able to. Where education is valued and you can go to school for as long as you want.
Perhaps there would be a governmental system where each aspect is governed by experts in the field. Where people can present a problem and it will be fixed. I dunno, something better than what we currently have. But we need to ensure that something is in place to ensure that people can get the help they need.
Hell, I currently work at a nonprofit that involves equine-assisted therapy. We can't always guarantee that we will have enough volunteers to help with the daily runnings of the farm. Some of that is related to school and work schedules. But also other factors can get in the way too and consistency is helpful.
