i feel like i'm meant to say something this long is a labour of love, but it's never felt like that because it's been the most fun, cathartic thing to write and the people who love it really love it, which is good because i think we still have a good 19 chapters still to go.

Never understood the placement of the sex scene. Jinx tells Vi, very clearly in my opinion, that she’s going to [redacted] herself. And they put the sex scene right after that. Why?

You can love the show, love a ship, and still point out just straight up weird details around it.

Like how Jinx, Sevika and Isha created new found family trope and after Isha dies, It’s NEVER addressed again. We don’t see Sevika reacting to it, it’s like it didn’t even happen. She barely even gets any goddamn speaking lines in act 3.

Some characters were introduced and once again we NEVER saw them again?

And once again, say what you will, they butchered up Vi’s character, made her into petty person who doesn’t give two shits if her sister lives or dies. Jinx very clearly states she is removing herself from equation for good, Vi goes and have sex right after, and then I’m supposed to feel bad for her because she lost her sister at the very end.

Sex scene too was so oversexualised and out of place, felt like fan service but not even to lesbians (I’m gay too btw, and even then I found it weird).

I’m saying this, and Jinx isn’t even in top five of my favourite characters on the show, I’m not just ticked off that my favourite blorbo died, truth be told I didn’t really care. But act 3 was genuinely butchered up and it’s INSANE how you’re not allowed to point out ANYTHING otherwise you’re called homophobic, or that you just don’t understand television. I’m gay. I’m not being homophobic, I’m pointing out what was wrong (in my opinion).

I dunno man I find it hard to critique without it coming off as like, "annoying fandom shipping brain" but it's painfully clear that early in s3 of shadows they were canonically writing that Guillermo had feelings for Nandor (how do you explain his sudden departure from him talking to Meg when she mentioned he had feelings? His jealousy of Gail? All while Nandor was explicitly seeking a romantic partner and becoming tired of being alone and being a vampire?)

I don't understand why people insist on having some semantics argument about whether it's definitionally queerbaiting or not if the characters are queer when the show itself took advantage of the growing interest around a potential romance between the two characters and then did not resolve it or address it in any way.

It seems clearer to me that the show took a sharp heel turn in season 4 and decided only at that point that actually nothing matters or changes and the characters will always be stagnant which is not only boring TV but also explicitly wasn't true. The characters had been consistently changing and evolving up to that point. There was never some deep and complex storyline but there were still overarching narratives that had impact.

I know shadows isn't a deeply serious show but it was well balanced between its comedy and character writing and sparse occasional sweet moments. All completely thrown out so Paul Simms could write more shitting/farting/pee jokes.

Sorry for not shutting up about it ha. I already didn't like the show anymore while in season 4 but the finale just makes me mad about it again.
