As a Daniel enjoyer, can I just say, the racism is the point. The ableism is the point, the bag on her head as she cried, the student used aggressively, the estranged daughters. This is a boomer monster. Remember how he lectured Lestat's head on having carved out a path for himself? That's boomer talk. You dislike him by design, because he is a bad person and I'd never seen a so thoroughly boomer evil on tv, it's very interesting and timely, you just gotta understand that it's not a blind spot in the writing, it's intentional. Just like it's intentional that Armand torture Louis, and the shockingly evil ugliness of that. The ugliness of incest, of murder, nothing is sanitized.
They're wealthy predators, the discomfort is the point.
I created an app type thing with Gemini that utilises the 3 Act/ 9 block/ 27 chapter method of writing.
It explains the method chapter by chapter, allows a first draft and then a second.
It does not assist in the actually writing.
*Edit for Clarity*: I had to create the above canvas as part of a class I am taking In AI Inclusive teaching. I have no intention of using this tool. Just curious of everyone's opinions.
Do you consider that AI writing?
Yes, but it's fine.
No its a tool and it's your own words.
Yes and it's wrong.
saw a post that pissed me off & i just blocked the op instead of making a bitchy screenshot post complaining abt it #brave
Notes from a teaching conference in Florence: Part 1
Florence In August, is like walking around an oven that never turns off, even at night.
It always shocks me, that when Teachers are the students in the classroom there is always one/ one group who speaks over the teacher.
Like girl, at your big old age of 40 plus you can't STFU and listen. And it's always someone who should be listening the most who talks the most.
The things people are using AI for are sending me. We are all Doomed.
Tune in for more rambling thoughts.
why do we need perfect, martyred victims-- especially in the everyones-an-evil-asshole vampire show?
claudia was manipulative, impulsive, and calculating. GOOD FOR HER!!
Armand: ...And then we'll chop off their heads while wearing the matching suits that I bought for us
Daniel: What?!
Armand: Matching suits, Daniel. Cool, right?
Mad as hell Assad isn't in more stuff. Where else can I watch my man on the computer? Just Hotel Portofino? Anyone know if any play he's in was filmed?
you can watch him in a production of ibsen's 'a doll's house' alongside anjana vasan here
in a short film called the saint of southhall here
in east is east by signing up for a subscription of ntathome here (there are links to watch it without paying but i can't provide that rn)
watch him as florizel in an rsc (royal shakespeare company) production of the winter's tale here (downloadable) he also played a few small roles in an rsc production of coriolanus that you can rent from digital theatre here or with a subscription to marquee tv here
he was in about 5 seconds of the show 'cucumber' which you can watch on channel 4's online player here. this may require a vpn if you're outside the UK. he's in episode 6 (content warning: this episode shows assad's character dying from AIDS and ends with a Black character being violently murdered by a white man in a homophobic hate crime)
he was in one of the 'small axe' films directed by steve mcqueen for the bbc, 'red white and blue' starring john boyega which you can watch here (requires a vpn outside the UK and a content warning for racism) he was in s4e3 of 'our girl' which you can watch here
he was in a couple episodes of a bbc show called 'apple tree yard' that isn't currently available on bbc iplayer but you can watch some clips of him here this youtube channel also has some supercuts of his appearances in other shows (such as 'vera' here) and stage productions, as well as behind the scenes videos, and his lines from a poem here (full video has since been taken down but he looks very beautiful in the clip so watch it anyway) and this classic
he was in a movie called 'we work for the dead' also known as 'this is the night mail' which looks like it's available to rent or buy from amazon in the US here it also appears to be free with ads on youtube (for countries that aren't mine lmao)
if you're going to be in england any time soon you can watch him in a recording of zadie smith's 'white teeth' held in the v&a's video archive. this requires contacting the v&a beforehand to make a request and book an appointment here. you can watch the trailer for that production here
salome is held in the rsc archive by the shakespeare birthplace trust and you will likewise need to contact them to book a video viewing space in their reading room beforehand here. trailer here
I would additionally like to add that he voiced Inesh for the BBC radio drama War of Words: Indira's Story in 2022. Fair warning, you need to be in the UK with a registered BBC account to access this. I used a VPN.
Link here
so i just went to edit the post and add a new link but it had disappeared from my blog and says it's been deleted (not by me!!!) which is annoying
anyway ''we work for the dead' can now be watched outside of the US here
there's also a short play he wrote called 'laundry' that's easy to find by googling and he's narrated two books: 'time travelling with a hamster' and 'the boy with the topknot' as well as a romeo and juliet retelling thing by michael morpugo alongside georgia landers his co-star in the winter's tale and of course various videos that cast made during the covid lockdowns that are available on youtube
i'm not into men sexually or whatever so i don't contribute to this, but i am so heartened and happy to see people full on thirsting about eric bogosian. yes older people are also hot and fuckable. genuinely makes me smile to see people thirst over that old man.
People switching up on Daniel Molloy, not me tho, I'd be sucking him so crazy he'd have blood dripping down to his ankles✌️stay safe y'all
ask game: you stalk my blog and then tell me what you think is wrong with me
I loved the writing this season of TVL.
It wasn't perfect, nothing is, and I hope they will wrap up a lot of things they didn't show us this season in the next one. But I still liked the job the writers did.
I liked that the characters were different than in S1 and S2, because they were shown to us in a different person's perspective. I add all they showed us this season to what we already know about the characters. I don't think they were changed or ruined, I think they were expanded on. Anyone you ask will have a different opinion on you based on their experiences of you, and none of them will know the real you.
I love that Louis was held accountable for the wrongs he's done, but I don't think he was painted as a villain, as I've seen people claim online. Everyone in that show does bad things. Everyone makes mistakes. Just like in reality, only real people usually don't go into such extremes. I personally don't see Louis portrayed as a bad character or a bad person, but a man who tries to do good things, but is misguided in his attempts.
I like that Claudia got to finally scream at the both of them and show her angriest self. That she wasn't being painted by Louis as this innocent child, so at odds with her own words in her diaries.
I like that Armand got to gremlin out. I like him a little evil. I like him spiteful. And I love that he has finally broke free from his role of the victim and embraced his wrongs. Maybe I'm projecting, but I see in him the need to scream "yes, I did horrible things, I fucked up, but so did you!".
And I liked that they managed to make me feel with Lestat. That they didn't go in and completely erase the first two seasons, that they didn't remake them, instead, they showed us why those things happened the way they happened. They gave us a way of seeing horrible acts with a bit of compassion.
I love that these characters are flawed. I love them for their flaws. None of these vampires are heroes. They never were. But we are all the heroes in our own story, and we were seduced by the tale.
a note for all the devilsminion whores here on tumblr:
if you only read one devilsminion fanfic in your entire life, let it be lie back and let me unlock you by thunder_puss
this fic is singularly beautiful. i cant stress enough how well-written armand and daniel are, both as individual characters and as a couple. the premise is fantastic and executed perfectly. READ IT!!!
fyi this fic is for freaks, and there are some heavy topics etc (dont worry, nothing traumatic is romanticised, which is another reason why i love it). pls read the tags as usual.
It be great if someone could come grab me by the scruff of the neck, force my head towards the blank google doc and scream at me to just write the Damn scene!
I think that would heal me.
Everyone is gonna meet Marius and Santino next season and then they’re going look at Armand and there’s going to be this collective “oh” moment where they finally get him.
We finally understand. Of course you’re clinically insane. There was no version of events where you endured both of these people and came out the other side well adjusted. Frankly, you’re holding it together pretty well considering the sheer scale and the variety of the horrors. That’s our bad. We all came together to get you this voucher for a millennium of therapy sessions because it’s going to take that at a minimum for you to begin to unpack all that. Please put the machete down.
okay so i watched the last episode and i don’t understand why so many people are saying it was so terrible im so sorry for you if you didn’t have fun during this season this was so much fun
