“Amazing.  I’ve never heard of anything like that.  I know scientists can synthesize some things in a lab, but changing lead to gold?  Sounds like a fairy tale.”

“What kind of rules?”

Alphonse thought for a second. “Well, there’s the Law of Conservation of Mass and the Law of Natural Providence but the most important rule is the Equivalent Exchange.”

Alphonse tilted his head slightly to one side. “Ohio?” He repeated. He’d never heard of any place called Ohio before. The name sounded kinda weird, like it was supposed to be a lyric from a song rather than an actual location. “That’s a funny name for a place, is it in another country?” He inquired, taking a sip of his own drink.

       A shy smile growing from her lips, Hannah began to scratch the back of her head. How does one explain America to a person who has no idea what it is…? Were states even a thing in other worlds?

       “I-It’s, uh… definitely in another country~” she sputtered, growing flustered as she desperately search for a way to explain this without giving everything away, “It’s just a small part of the country, a-and I live in a town in Ohio, called Columbus! We have lots of places named after people…”

“Oh,” Alphonse said. He stirred his drink with his straw. He could tell Hannah wasn’t very comfortable talking about her home; Al could understand that. He was searching for a way to change the subject when their waitress came back with their pasta. “Oh hey, our food’s here,” he said smiling and jumping at the chance to change the subject. “That took a lot less time than I thought it would.”

Hi guys. Sorry for being AWOL for so long. To be honest, I wasn't really feeling Al for a while. I guess it was some kind of writer's block or something?? I don't know. Whatever it was, I'm here now. I'm going to try and get through some drafts and be productive. On mobile so no icons and I might be a little slow but I'll try to get to everyone I owe replies to, including some asks I'm pretty sure are still in my inbox. So yeah...

Sooooo.......In case anyone was wondering, I’m not dead. I’m just a terrible person who is literally up to my ears in school work, pre-college anxiety and general laziness. The laziness being the biggest issue. I’m really really sorry for not being very active lately and I’m trying to be here more but I think I’m in a bit of a slump right now. That probably just sounds like a really lame excuse but I really am sorry, especially to all the people who I owe replies to. I promise I’ll get to you as soon as I can. So yeah, once again, not dead just a terribly lazy and awful.
