Official statement about me leaving this blog

Hiya folkens,

I know I have been inactive on this blog for a very long time anyway, yet suddenly I got another urge to officially announce that I'm leaving it and might even delete it (I'm yet to decide about that).

So yeah, I'm leaving this blog because I no longer identify as aromantic. Therefore not only I have no desire to participate in making content for the aromantic community (which I still support and appreciate, it's just that I'm not a part of it and can't relate); I as well think it's not my place to post about aromanticism.

However, I still think that y'all aros are incredibly cool and rad and I support you. You are great and valid and keep doing your thing. Don't let the society push you into anything you don't feel like doing. Be yourself.

The thing that puts me off shipping so badly is that when a pairing is popular, the shippers tend to only focus on the characters in shipping terms. Important moments from canon about one of the characters are turned into ship moments, even if the other character isn’t there. I respect everybody’s right to do as they wish, but not everything is about fictional romance. It just irks me how a characters individual qualities and important moments in canon are always reduced to shipping.

Shoutout to all the aromantic people who have to deal with society’s social norms that view romantic relationships as inherently more important than other relationships a lot of the time. If romance isn’t your thing, that’s fine and there’s nothing wrong with you. If you don’t want romantic relationships, you’re fine just the way you are and you deserve just as much happiness in your life and with the people you care about as anyone else.
