so I just watched the odyssey movie....

and I made this within 5 minutes of returning. so I think that sums up my thoughts on it. (though im willing to rant more if ppl want it. cause I have COMPLAINTS)

The Odyssey (2026):

this may at some point become a rant or a separate rant post, so be warned.

my main question: does anyone know if this movie was meant to be accurate to Homer’s The Odyssey? Not accurate to historical Ancient Greece (because I know that movie producers and directors will never be able to actually satisfy the classicists, the historians, and the Ancient Greek and Greek mythology enthusiasts) but accurate to the original texts. I kind of need the answer because depending on if Christopher Nolan was aiming for odyssey-adjacent, a retelling, or a reimagining of the tale will alter my overall understanding of the movie (because, to put it blatantly, I didn’t like it if it was meant to be accurate to the original story. And so far most of the reviews are from people who never read the odyssey, had no interest in Greek mythology, or people who like whatever Nolan puts out). I don’t want to write a review, a public one and the only and possibly first of my movie reviews, that is critical of portrayals in the movie if they were intentional.

Here it is: Jon Kent, I think, is in a coma. j'onn is responsible for getting him out or seeing why he's still in the coma. he find that jon has a life in the Danny phantom world and has been basically raised by Danny. Danny has a conversation with him on how Jon has to go back to his world.

pretty much the only clear thing in my mind is when Danny says to J’onn “Now. Get the fuck out of my son’s head/mind.” And it scares J’onn shitless
