saw a tiktok of a mother taking her very tiny daughter to an art museum and she’s just walking around going “whoooa” “woooaah” to everything but then they got to a marble statue of a nude woman lying on her back and the girl points and goes “mommy🫵” and i just immediately welled up with tears and all the comments are just laughing about it and of course it’s funny but how are you not insanely moved by the way art connects everyone on earth from a centuries-old sculptor to a toddler in 2023

some figure drawing
two essential skills for artists
“good enough” and “fuck it”
“good enough” is when you are working on something and are happy with most of it but can live with a few imperfections, useful when needing to move on from sketch to inking/coloring or what have you.
“fuck it” is when you absolutely hate what you’re doing every step of the way but you post it anyways, very useful during art blocks.
both are useful to help you move on and not obsess over making it perfect, because art is anything but perfect, even photo realistic artists probably see imperfections that someone else might not catch
these can also be applied to other things in life

Digital drawing is a new avenue that I’ve been practicing for some time, it’s very easy at this point to get started. Some supplies is needed (although some can be done with a mouse and computer), many might already have these materials. What you’ll need: Computer or IpadDrawing tablet- there are cheaper versions that can be found all over and can be as low as $79Apple PencilMouse There are a…

Must Read Art Books
Art is always changing but many foundational tools and concepts are exactly the same as the ones the old masters used. I've been working my way through some books and just wanted to share.
Perspective Made Easy by Ernest Norling- If you are starting out with drawing this is a must read. From the beginning of the book, perspective is laid out in the most basic and simple terms and from there as you read deeper the easy concepts are broadened to more advanced concepts. Perfect for very beginners!
Human anatomy for Artists by Eliot Goldfinger - Anatomy can be very exhaustive with the amount of bones and muscles that make up the body. This book goes over both as well as demonstrations of how the bones bend and muscles move.
Color and Light by James Gurney- Color and Light is a must read for those who want to understand how light affects any subject and how it in turn can affect colors.
Any of Andrew Loomis books
Force Dynamic Line Drawing for Animators by Michael D. Mattesi- There are multiple books dealing with force by this artist, but I believe this book is a great place to start. Creating dynamic artwork is something I want to implement in my art and this books teaching are always in the back of mind when completing figure drawings.
Are there any must read books that I missed out on?
