🧜🏻♀️ Drop Of The Ocean 🧜🏻♀️
I’ve seen so many gorgeous artworks of mermaids resting in teacups that i decided to give this idea a try… This piece was done using watercolors, gradually waiting for each layer to dry before adding the next one, and then I weent with colored pencils and metallic watercolors to add in the details in the mermaid… The hanging plants and the kelp inside the teacup were my favorite part to work on, as well as the moss in the floor, which I hadn’t included in the sketch but felt like it’d be a nice touch 😊
Resurfacing
Hi, hope you’re all having a wonderful month filled with Mermay magic! And here’s my first piece for it, although not with some creative liberties 😊 Part of the inspiration came from the Pokédex entry on Dewgong, which says that, back in the earlier days of the Pokémon universe, sailors would frequently mistake the fin for the that of a mermaid
I do have some original pieces planned out, but I decided to start with this one because I simply couldn’t get the idea off of my head… I used watercolors, colored fine liners and acrylic markers
STAR WARS | “Luminous Beings Are We…”
“… not this crude matter”
Happy Star Wars Day everyone! May the Force be with you always!
Here’s a little something I worked on for this date, done using watercolors on an A4 Canson sketchbook and inspired not only by Yoda, but by one of my all-time favorite Star Wars quotes… Sprinkling the stars was my favorite part of it 😊
"The Fate Of Ophelia"
Hello, everyone, hope you're all doing well and that you had a wonderful Easter! Here are some studies of the outfits Taylor wears in the music video, which I painted using my trusty MIYA HIMI Jelly Gouache set
I think my favorite aspect of the video is how she made it look like an almost continuous take - with the exception of one scene - and brought back her Eras dancers, and talked about how this was a tribute to them and their contribution to making the tour as memorable as possible
As for the album, I haven't listened to it in its entirety - I'm slow - but the few songs I listened to, I definitely enjoyed... I was a little taken aback by her creative approach to the theme of this one, as I was sort of expecting the songs to be just as associated with the theme as the album art and the photos are... But I do think there is a spark of joy and happiness in this one, which is really nice, as I felt TTPD had more bleakness to it, and it's nice to see it replaced by more positivity
Hey all, hope you're all doing well!
It was Tyson's/Takao's birthday a few days ago (21st of March if I'm not mistaken) and I got caught up in some personal things, so I couldn't prepare anything for it, but am rectifying it now by sharing this piece I did sometime around last year - I'm thinking Inktober, but I can't remember the exact prompt - which was a different approach to my usual style, as I tried to capture the light/shadow elements with a limited color palette instead of sorting out which color would be more accurate... I do intend on sharing some art I already did in some of my other social media, as well as new things, but this is a fun start
Their rivalry is definitely the highlight of the series, with no other even coming close to how intense they can make a spinning top game feel... Kai is still my favorite character (anime/mangá and overall) and I really like the way the writers did his arc, making him a better person without resorting to doing a 180 in his personality... I wish his mangá version had the same sort of nuance, as he's definitely more angry than stoic, but I think it serves the purpose of the story... Also, his soft spot for animals in later seasons is definitely an inspired decision ;)
• Gold Saints •
Here they are, Athena’s elite warriors, so powerful they end up losing to a whole bunch of Bronze Saints with protagonist syndrome, but still held in the highest of grounds by fans 😂😅
Mediums used include fine liners, alcohol markers, acrylic brush pen markers, fine liner brush pen and watercolors… Painting armor is very trick but also a lot of fun
• A Knight Of The Seven Kingdoms • Some studies I made inspired by the series while working on other projects and simultaneously trying to improve my knowledge and understanding of acrylic markers… Dare I say, I’m in love with the medium and look forward to using it more 😊😊😊
As for the series, I waited until most episodes were out to binge it, as they are shorter and I every now and then want to just sit and enjoy something for a few hours, and also wanted to avoid spoilers (which I succeeded relatively)… The whole cast was tremendous and they are further proof that there are no small parts
From first to second page, left to right, top to bottom, we have: Baelor Targaryen, Maekar Targaryen, Valarr Targaryen, Aerion Targaryen, Aegon “Egg” Targaryen, Daeron Targaryen and Dunk/Duncan
POKÉMON | Fletchling, Fletchinder & Talonflame
Here’s a little something I’ve worked on a few days ago, but now decided to share to join in the celebration of Pokémon’s 30th anniversary!
I grew up watching a lot of anime and rediscovered my love for them as an adult, and now the wonder and the amazement have come back stronger, alongside the nostalgia
Figuring out their poses and how to make them work together harmoniously was tricky, as I did a few rough sketches, but I’m really happy with the way this one turned out! The first time I saw Fletchling in the games made me instantly fall in love with it, and the evolutions did not disappoint!
Amur Leopard
First post here, so hello, Tumblr! This piece was done using watercolors and colored pencils on a Canson sketchbook I got sometime ago!
There are roughly only 130 Amur leopards alive in the world currently (as of 2023) and this saddens me, as this subspecies deserves a chance to survive and thrive once more!
You can swipe to see some progress photos, and this is something I promised myself I’d do more
