The future of Rye Lane
Do you want Rye Lane’s unique character to be preserved? If the answer is yes, sign this petition: https://t.co/wwbsV4bu9W
Michael.
Lilt Ad 1988.
Totally Tropical Taste...yet in all the 8 times I’ve been to Jamaica I have never actually seen one sold. Bag juice, yes. Ting, definitely. Lilt, no.
Maybe the other islands sell them.

Great Saturday morning memories, completely overrun by this digital age (oh no was that me sounding my age?)
From the day Femsplain launched, compensating all of our contributors for their content has always been at top of mind. Since Femsplain is mostly self-funded, we’re constantly thinking of ways we can make that goal happen faster. In February we launched a successful Kickstarter campaign, allowing us to pay our featured contributors $100 per article, for about a year.
Now, as we look to expand our editorial voice with different types of content (video, monthly columns, etc.) we’ve come up with a way to not only support this initiative, but also to support the talented female-identified artists in our community.
That’s where you come in!
Announcing…
50/50: A collaboration with female-identified artists to support female-identified creators.
What is it? Every month, we’ll announce a new partnership with a different female-identified artist. Each artist will have created three original pieces in their own unique art style while keeping the Femsplain mission in mind “To change the dialogue of what it’s like to be a woman.”
These designs will be sold in our shop as prints and also on one other item of the artist’s choice (tote, shirt, mug, etc).
With each month and every new artist, we’ll be releasing personal interviews and exclusive content all throughout the month.
How long will each artist be featured for? Each artist’s pieces will appear in our shop for only one month. These pieces are created exclusively for Femsplain and once the partnership ends will not be sold or produced anywhere else. Once the partnership ends, we will only be printing/shipping what was purchased.
How will I know who will be featured next? Similar to how we announce Femsplain monthly themes, the artist and designs will be kept a secret until the first of the month.
Where is my money going? Like the name of our project suggests, 50% of all profit goes towards supporting the artist and the other 50% towards compensating contributors for future content on Femsplain.
Launching July 1st!
We’re so excited to see this come alive and we hope you’ll join us in spreading the word!
Forever my Woman Crush Wednesday...
Aaliyah...I would rock that hair over my eye style every time I straightened it. Only thing is I wore glasses so the affect wasn’t as sultry and the hair grease smeared my glasses (nerd issues).
BELLY.
I just remember watching this uncomfortably with my mum and her boyfriend (yuck).
Sound
We were late 80′s, so we’re apparently not as dangerous as the 90′s born ladies...
Events
Check out The Orange Soda Film Club founded by a group of London Movie Lovers (one of which is an old Uni buddy of mine).
They have a few upcoming events over the summer that will tug on your classic movie nostalgia (get the theme?)
Question?...are there any classic Black British movies which bring back nostalgia? Or is it all American?...
Paint on (Body) Canvas.
Keeping with the theme...
Take me back Tuesday...is that a thing? I wanna make it a thing.
Take me back to when poses like this were cool; I could wear a fanny pack and rainbow coloured callot all-in-ones, with matching sandals and hair piece to boot!
Mum wasn’t playing....oh and take me back to Disney World too.

So the process has begun, and with this months inspiration in mind I’ve set to work on my art piece.
How fun it would be to actually have some body art done on me...but I’m not sure I have the confidence for that so I’ma stick to what I know best. Drawing!
Let us see how this piece turns out.
R - what do you have cooking?
FYI, just so you know - I’m an Illustrator/Graphic Designer and R is a Fashion Designer so we’ll be bringing different flavours and point of views to our projects.
