It's them, My Blorbos from the Vulgate (not to be confused with Bleoberis from the Vulgate, a different guy). One brother has anger issues, and the other would rather die than admit he's ever had a negative emotion in his life! Very normal of them! I'm sure their childhood trauma had nothing to do with it and it's fine. :)
The Vulgate truly is a chronicle of Saraide repeatedly trying to keep all of the Lady of the Lake's adopted children alive.
I've decided to spend all of April drawing nothing but circus-themed OCs! I'm making this an art challenge for myself, but you can join the challenge too and draw some fools of your own. :D (See my previous post for details on the #aprilfool art challenge.)
First on the docket, I needed a trio of clowns to entertain the crowd. Meet Sunny, Pagliacci, and Chuckles -- a whiteface style clown, a tramp style clown, and a semi-auguste style clown. They're members of Baron Marvel's Circus Royale, a second-rate traveling circus populated by misfits and runaways with nowhere better to go, led by a shrewd owner/ringmaster who knows exactly how to exploit a vulnerable workforce with poor pay and worse benefits. It may be a bad gig, but it's their bad gig!
Can we, through the miracle of science, fire a man out of a cannonball? Yes!
Should we? Probably not!!!
Next up in my circus lineup, please meet Rocket Reno, a short king who's perpetually very tolerant of his overprotective coworkers.
What's a circus without at least one certified horse girl in a goofy hat? Not a circus, if you ask me! Luckily, my fictional circus only features animals that are well loved and cared for by the people that work with them. Baron Marvel's Circus Royale may be a shady and corrupt business, but its record on animal welfare is spotless (because it's my imaginary world and I make the rules). :)
Please meet Crystal Starr, a bally girl/equestrienne and self-proclaimed misanthrope. According to her, she doesn't even like children. She gets along passably well with Pagliacci, but only because he doesn't bother her, and she respects his dedication to his macaw.
This questionable, deadbeat circus wouldn't be complete without the world's shittiest boss. Baron Marvel isn't just the owner of the Circus Royale, he's also its ringmaster -- a man who loves treating his employees like servants, and seems to find it amusing how much they all hate him. Someone really ought to do something about him.
Of course, any good circus needs more occupational hazards! Cue Sydney Stiletto, a knife thrower who never misses her mark. Ladies, have you got a husband you don't want? Syd can help. :)
If there's one person who's determined to take this poor excuse for a circus and turn it into a proper outfit, it's their trapeze artist, Angel DuBois. A little thing like being blackballed from every decent circus in the industry won't keep her from reclaiming her former glory -- or, someday, having her revenge on the people who ruined her career.
The closest thing to a team dad that this two-bit circus has is Sam. He's patient and kind, and keeps the most volatile members of the circus from coming to blows most of the time. On the professional side, he's probably their least thrilling performer -- he doesn't wear face paint or makeup or even any cool fake tattoos. He just shows up, lifts heavy objects, and collects a crappy paycheck. The more professional performers might be annoyed by his lack of enthusiasm for the job, if he wasn't so easy to get along with.

Please share this around! ❤️ Let's do a themed art challenge for April and run away to the circus together! 🎈🎪🤹 Explore vivid colors and larger-than-life personalities, and maybe stretch your anatomy skills with some unusual poses. Use the hashtag #aprilfool to join in!
If no one else participates, I'll just do it myself! But if you want to join in, here are some templates you can use (optionally!) if you want to tell us about your circus OC! :D
If you should ever leave me Though life would still go on, believe me The world could show nothing to me So what good would living do me?
Popping my head back up into the general Arthuriana fandom today to push my Lancelot/Galehaut agenda. Do NOT separate them, Galehaut WILL literally die.
Right before we close out 2024, here's a little preview of my new project in the works! It's Greek mythology based, but not Hadesgame. (Don't worry, I'll still be doing fanart!) Enjoy a pair of baby binary stars.
