Have you ever seen an octopus run before?
From @sciencefriday:
Crawling, swimming, squeezing, jetting—the range of movement available to an octopus is impressive. Yet some species occasionally choose to stand up on two arms and “run” backwards. Chrissy Huffard, a Senior Researcher at the Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute, explains the pros and cons of this seemingly silly behavior and why an octopus might find looking foolish useful.

Yesterday Viz Media announced at their AX JoJo’s panel that they were going to release Araki’s “How to Create Manga” book in English. And a lot of you might be expecting a How to Draw manga book but this is in fact going to be more about world building and creating characters! So we will be getting an insider look at Araki’s creative process
The table of contents looks a little like this: Chapter 1 - Introduction on How to Draw Chapter 2 - The ‘Four Fundamental Structures’ of Manga that You’ll Want to Get Down Chapter 3 - How to Make Characters Chapter 4 - How to Make Stories Chapter 5 - Drawings Express Everything Chapter 6 - What is ‘World Building’ in Manga? Chapter 7 - All Elements Tie to a ‘Theme’ Putting it Into Practice Part 1 - Until the Manga is Made Putting it Into Practice Part 2 - How to Draw Short Works
There will of course be some example illustrations
Araki has always been fond of talking about and teaching the process of making a story so seeing it all condensed into one book will definitely be interesting
And yes the cover is a drawing of him hugging Rohan
If you cant wait for it to come out in english you can get it from Amazon Japan and CDjapan

After talking with some artists who have a hard time keeping organized, I made them a set of slides with some good practices I use for keeping organized before, during, and after a con. I figured enough artists follow me that they might find them of use as well! Keep in mind that this is just my system–there are many others!
