kralsei has monarch/knight ship themes of servitude, loyalty, and devotion to the brink of obsession, but the dynamic is reversed.

ralsei wants and needs to serve kris because that is his purpose, that is what he was made for, and he may become obsolete eventually but kris wont. this is what he fights for. their future, not his.

they rule over his heart, his mind, his choices, whether they want that or not.

as the story continues, the balance begins to shift.

by understanding ralsei and wanting to be there for him, kris is also devoting themselves to him -- serving a cause they are simultaneously fighting against.

because they care about him. more than the vows that they made. more than their promise.

as allegiences are blurred and loyalties are put into question one thing remains true; kris wants ralsei to be himself.

and isnt it beautiful, to look into the mirror image of everything you once wished you were, and love him, in spite of hating yourself?

would you kneel at the throne of your hopes and dreams, then?

could you?

yes, you could, because you know hes something beyond that. he is real.

and maybe, just maybe,

you could be real, too.

A really sad and relatable part about Ralsei to me is that he knows that people love him. He knows he has friends and that they would do anything to keep him safe and healthy, but that's what hurts most to him. He feels guilty about being loved because he feels he deserves nothing so he believes they're just wasting their time. He adores his friends and enjoys the time they spend together but at the same time, likely wishes that they didn't mean so much to each other at all. Poor guy.
