There has been a lot happening in Indonesia's politics and it is a m e s s. I'm doing this to bring forth the topic and to inform anyone interested and maybe get more people to help out on this problem.

What is Omnibus Law?
It's taken from latin which means 'for all'. In law, it means that it is the law that can cover for all/ a law that controls a lot of other laws.
In simple words; it applies the the "three in one" idea as it stands for 3 RUU (Rancangan Undang-Undang, or bills):
RUU Cipta Kerja, RUU Ketentuan dan Fasilitas Perpajakan untuk Penguatan Perekonomian, and RUU about Pengemangan dan Penguatan Sektor Keuamgan.
Why is it a problem?
Most of the problem lies in the RUU Cipta Kerja as it takes away labor workers' rights and mostly only benefits investors. Basically the rich becomes richer and the poor becomes poorer.
Adding to that, the percentage of labor workers compared to the number of investors is a lot so it's clear that this law will affect a lot of people.
The entire thing is 1,028 pages so ofc I can't explain the entire thing in detail but here are the problems:
1. Severance pay is removed.
2. Provincial minimum wage (UMP), minimum wage (UMK), and Provincial sectoral minimum wage (UMSP) is removed.
3. Labor wages are counted per hour.
4. Paid leave/ Annual leave (leave for important stuff like sickness, marriage, baptism, death of a loved one, and giving birth) is removed.
5. Outsourcing is replaced with lifetime contracts.
6. There is no permanent employee status.
7. Termination of Employment can be done by companies anytime.
8. Social Security and other welfares is removed.
9. All employees are daily workers.
10. Foreign labor are free to enter.
11. Workers are not allowed to protest. Protests may lead to them being fired.
12. Only national hoidays are allowed. No additional leaves.
13. Breaks on friday will only be an hour, this includes Sholat Jumat (Friday Prayers).

Political Parties who do: (7) Partai Demokrasi Indonesia Perjuangan, Partai Golkar, Partai Gerindra, Partai Nasdem, Partai Kebangkitan Bangsa, Partai Amanat National, and Partai Persatuan Pembangunan.
What have Indonesians done?
College students have started riots demanding the law to be cancelled.

No but really, I cannot put into words how fundamentally wrong it is that public schools can assign things over incredibly meaningful holidays like Yom Kippur.
Last year was a vivid example, and also one of the worst fasts I’ve ever done. My history teacher assigned us a full paper, insisting that it was reasonable since we had the entire day to do it. As one of the few practicing Jews in my class, I immediately objected because not only was that unfair, it was actually impossible to do without serious harm to my own health.
Because Yom Kippur started that very night with a solid two hours of services. I would go home, eat dinner (at like 4:30 because you have to do it before services), change, and then be at synagogue. Services would go until at least 8 o’clock, which meant I would get home around 9.
See any time for homework in there?
Now, pretend you’re me for a moment here. Services tomorrow morning start at 9, and you usually want to get there earlier unless you’re willing to end up in an overflow room. So staying up late to do it isn’t an option if you want more than four hours of sleep.
Now, it depends on how religious you are, and you can pick and choose, but there’s services more or less throughout the entire day on Yom Kippur. If you want to attend, which should absolutely be an option without compromising yourself academically, then you’ll be there until break the fast comes.
That’s right! You’ve been fasting all day, because that is an absolutely key part of Yom Kippur. (If you are under age thirteen, are pregnant, or are sick you are exempt but otherwise fasting is expected.) There are many reasons—reminding yourself of your mortality, to remember the sufferings of others—but ultimately it’s not an opt-out kind of thing.
But when can you break the fast exactly? It actually varies! Because it’s meant to be done one hour after sundown (25 hours total), but that’s a little different each year. It’s usually around 8 pm, which would be when services end for the day.
Now you can eat! Let’s aim low and give it half an hour to get home from services, and then another hour and a half to actually break the fast.
It’s 10 o’clock. You’ve only just eaten and your stomach probably hurts, because stuffing yourself after a fast can be really bad for your health. You’re back home for the first time all day.
You still have a paper to write.
How is that fair? If I’ve just gotten off of a fast, having spent all day immersed in religion and contemplating my own mortality, I’m not gonna be in a place to do any kind of work, academic or not.
And even if I’d had breaks in services (I can’t stay still all day, so I usually head home for a few hours in the middle), I was still fasting. When I’m hungry I have trouble working, for obvious reasons. And in this case the issue isn’t access, but the fact that I am prohibited from eating anything. Depending on how seriously you take it, you might not even have had water today. I fast with water after nearly passing out from dehydration during a fast for Tisha B’Av, but not everyone does! If you haven’t had anything to eat or drink, it’ll be incredibly difficult to focus on writing anything.
I explained all of this to my teacher, and she instead said I could just turn it in late. She also said I’d still be marked down for late work, so how is that any help?
I did that paper the day after. It was a day late, a few points off, but I held it against my teacher for months. Not because of the grade itself, but because she put me in that situation to begin with.
I should have been allowed to observe Yom Kippur. I should have been able to spend the day thinking and reflecting on my mistakes and contemplating my own life. That’s literally what the holiday is for. But instead I spent the whole time with that stupid grade in the back of my head.
Even on what is arguably the holiest day of the Jewish calendar, I still wasn’t given a break.
this is called failure to differentiate content to reflect the cultural needs and backgrounds of your student population, and it sucks. it's bad teaching. don't do it. when a student comes to you with a cultural or religious need like this, it is your job to support them, and figure out a way to resolve the situation that's equitable, and makes sure they don't suffer academically as a result. this SUCKS as a response.
tumblr’s algorithm only cares about posts that are reblogged, it doesn’t count likes. posts don’t get promoted or circulated when they only have likes (the way instagram functions), only reblogs matter for increasing reach on tumblr as a platform.

but yeah, tumblr’s system definitely doesn’t advantage non-popular artists, but there’s a big problem from within the community too. i have over 400 followers and i consider myself lucky when more than 2 people reblog my art, so imagine how much worse it is for people with even less followers.

Sorry to break it to you but they’re all right. Tumblr isn’t Instagram. Likes don’t get us anywhere. Everybody’s “drop a heart and keep scrolling” mentality has murdered all of my original content sideblogs. Each and every one of them.
It’s ok to do things that make you happy. It’s ok to learn a new language despite your parents saying it’s useless. It’s ok to play games if that gives u something to look forward to. it’s ok to do things to relax and calm down even if it’s not “productive”. it’s not a waste of time to doodle flowers or make cookies for yourself or make pretty patterns with washi tape. You don’t need to be productive all the time, sometimes it’s nice to take time to close your eyes and listen to music or look up at the clouds passing by. Your life is yours and it’s not any less worthy if you spend more time doing what makes you happy. Destroy the idea that life has no time for simple pleasures and happy things.

A few months ago I reblogged a post sharing Jazzy’s gofundme, a girl who was poisoned by her roommate, noting that she only had about half her goal despite the fund being up for several years. I saw a lot of people reblog that version; Just a month or so later when I checked her fund again it had been reached!! And tons of people still reblog it.
I think when people are just scrolling and they come across these posts they don’t check immediately and forget about it, seeing all the notes and assuming the fund is doing well- I think more people need this visualized to realize this person REALLY needs help.
We can’t let Lakeith continue to be punished in this repulsive system. Please make sure him and his fund get the attention Jazzy does and let’s do everything we can to get him to the goal!! We have to reunite him with his family by any means possible.

My Teeth Are Going To Kill Me AKA I survived catching COVID19 but I might not survive sepsis
Listen, I hate doing this. I hate revealing things about myself online but here we go. I was born with a thing called amelogenisis imperfecta, basically teeth with no enamel, extremely soft, and cavity prone.
I grew up in a poverty stricken town in the deep south, and went to the dentist one time as a kid. He suggested caps and spacers for my teeth to mitigate the damage, but the state insurance didn’t cover that, as it fell under “cosmetic procedures”, and would cost almost two thousand dollars out of pocket.
We didn’t have that. My mom was raising 5 kids. Of course we didn’t have that.
So I went through life getting cavities and having teeth snap off at the gumline. I had a tooth break while brushing my teeth (which I do with a baby toothbrush. every time I eat, I floss, I rinse, the whole nine, every day at least 4 times because debris = abscess). I’m not kidding you. This is deadly serious. My brother had the same condition, and got pericarditis from an infected molar and nearly died from sepsis. I’ve talked to dental schools, but they are unwilling to so much as go near my mouth in this condition. I have more abscesses than teeth.
It’s getting harder and harder to eat solid food.
You may think this is a scam. You may think, your teeth can’t be THAT bad! Friends, strangers, mutuals, I am about to share something with you that brings me so much humiliation and pain, in hopes that you will help me. PLEASE be kind, I know they’re an ugly sight, I know it’s terrible. Nearly each and every one needs to be pulled, and my insurance only covers 30% of the cost. Two teeth cost me 618. As horrifying as this is for me, as shame filled as I am, I ask you to spread this post as far as possible.

as you can see, the situation is Bad. My teeth are Bad. Everything is Bad. I need help. Each one needs pulled, at the least, so I can get a set of dentures. My dream would be implants, but that’s simply a dream and not a possibility. I just want enough money to have each one yanked for good. Over the last 4 months I’ve been on clindamycin 3 times for the infections.
Please, for the love of whatever deity you hold dear, help me. Tag your friends, do whatever you have to, laugh at me if you want, as long as this post gets some sort of exposure because I am staring death in the face at this point.
