so in svs we saw that roman didn't quite know how to react to Janus saying he loved him because clearly he was lying but Roman was clearly uncomfortable with it even if it wasn't a lie. because he doesn't believe anybody loves him. so imagine someone saying it out of pure love of his goofiness in a light hearted moment and tell me why its gonna be Virgil? because through all the bad moments.. Virgil always loved him.

All of the Sides!! Remus was the first one, which I did in December!

janus & remus both canonically being surprised at logan & his orange eyes (wtit's script describing "remus looks at logan with surprise and awe" & then janus' face in wids) stresses me out because what does that Mean. why are They surprised? why are they surprised. like everyone else can be surprised but why would the dark sides be surprised . about. the dark side...? you know the guy. you know him. is it cuz hes possessing. logan. WHY are YOU SURPRISED.

Heard this specific audio snipbit of a Dan and Phil video when this vid of theirs first came out and thought it was very Janus and Patton coded so I commissioned Ian aka @not-exactly-laborious to animate it

I did write the dialogue for this scene as to make it more fitting for them in context compared to the original video lol

elaboration under cut:

- Don’t ask what I mean by divorce. It’s not really a single event and more like a slow erosion of their relationship.

- I’m gonna be a bit of a contrarian and say I do not think the dark sides were inheritly familial or had a similar dynamic to the light sides. I just don’t think it would work for their functions and how Thomas perceives them. I imagine they have/had a bit of an “Us vs Them” mentality, and they were probably closest in the earlier days (like how we saw the baby sides in WIDS) because all they really had was each other. Each of them were still finding their footing, trying to figure out what (and who) they really were (a headcanon of mine is that the dark sides probably took longer to develop their own identities compared to the light sides because they were so repressed) and suddenly they were being shunned simply for doing their jobs! And if those “light side” jerks are going to push them around, the least they can try and do is stick together (which eventually led to a real bond!). I really think their relationship was less of a genuine familial bond and more of a “these are MY people so I gotta stick by them no matter what.” They’re like a weird codependent high school friend group

- The exception to this is Virgil because HOT TAKE I DONT THINK HE WAS EVER THAT FAMILIAL WITH THE DARK SIDES (with the exception of Orange)!! At least not on the same level as with the Light Sides. Close? Absolutely! But much of that closeness was built out of circumstance rather than a genuine friendship. The amount of vitriol on both sides always gave me the impression that they… never really had a super positive relationship. I (and a friend) believe that Virgil was actually alone for a very long time and only joined the dark sides (despite being quite afraid of them) because 1. He believed working with them was the best way to protect Thomas, and 2. He wanted companionship. As they all grew, Virgil probably rejected the others the same way he does in canon (“they’re evil and can’t be trusted”)

- I think that (outside of my Orange and Virgil theoryslop) that Janus and Virgil were the closest because they had very similar methods to protecting Thomas (hiding!), while Remus and Virgil probably fed into each other’s worst traits which made them weird codependent sort of friends, and Janus and Remus felt as though they could be themselves around each other without judgement

- If I think about who actually “formed” the dark sides as a group, it was 100% Janus (he’s Repressionmaxxing), but I like to imagine Orange was like the heart of the group and kept them all together. He was very lonely.

- If I had to give them actual family roles? Janus is the crappy wine aunt who gets saddled with his three plucky orphan nephews. They sort of hate each other but they learn to coexist through the Power Of Love or something

- The only dark side (former or present) Orange even remotely likes anymore is Remus, and that’s pushing it

- They don’t miss each other but they also don’t DON’T miss each other. Secret third thing

first time not drawing an oc for the @color-palettes challenge! wasn't sure what to do at the start of this month but i let it rotate in the back of my mind for a while and given i was also rotating logan sanders the combination was inevitable.

gave myself the challenge of only using the palette colours this month, no gradients or anything! may do it again for some palettes in future, though not as a rule or anything, just when i feel like it :D

Sanders Sides AU where everythings the same except during season one Virgil first showed up in a really flambouant outfit and make-up of blacks and greys with a similar style and vibe to Janus and Remus, and as the season progressed it slowly got less and less effort until in the episode right before the finale he's just in his regular season one outfit.

During the finale after they've talked everything out someone says something implying they think the reason Virgil started dressing more casually is because he started getting less and less motivated because they were being mean to him, and he's just immedietly like "Absolutely not, I only dressed up cause there was a dress code on the other side, I do not wanna wear that shit every day. If I live with you guys I am not spending an hour on my outfit and make-up every morning. Once a month at best."

Do any of you guys remember a few years ago when posting the sides with different hair colours than usual would lead to a bunch of angry people in your ask box telling you that you're racist for some reason? Does anyone else remember that or was that just happening to me and me alone?

I never saw it with hair colors but I don’t draw, just write. I definitely experienced really similar things though.

There were a lot of really weird times a few years ago. People freaked out when you gave them different body types too. That was such An Ordeal. And if you did change their races you’d get a bunch of people telling you why every choice you made was racist or problematic or a stereotype.
