“…” Erika stood still for a moment when Cinder mentioned that she’d be gaining the loyalties of Emerald and Mercury. “How nice of you, to give me a Murderer and a thief as pets.” she rolled her eyes. “I’ll be sure to treat them better than you ever did probably.” Erika opened the door but not before turning to Cinder one last time.
“I never want to see you or anymore of your mistakes in my life ever again. It’s already enough that I have to see myself in the mirror.” she looked Cinder in the eyes. “I shouldn’t even exist…” she turned away.
“I don’t see you as a mistake. I see you as one of the two good things I’ve done in my life. Contrary to what you may think, I loved your father. I truly did. He was a good man despite his…penchant for art theft. It was a lesser sin than anything I’ve done, at least.” Cinder bit her lip, staring her daughter in the eye and taking in the sight as she knew this would be the last time she ever saw Erika.
“And I love you and your brother. I don’t expect you to ever forgive me, because gods know I never forgave myself. But I want you to at least know that I kept you out of my life because I loved you, not because I didn’t want you. I wanted you to have a chance to be your own person and not make my mistakes.”
Erika looked back yet again. “No, what I meant is that someone like you, didn’t deserve the right to breed.” she stated. “If you really care, then you’ll never bother me again.”
With that last remark, Erika slammed the door behind her. Now to find her way back home. Where the hell was she this time?
