Self-portraits by Han Xiao
Her portraits possess an innate sense of loneliness and anxiety, and are reminiscent of Francis Bacon’s paintings. She deliberately blurs out the faces of her subjects and makes it difficult to discern any identifiable features. Her energetic and highly impastoed brush strokes and rich color palette of vibrant blues, ochres, greens, and pinks illuminate her canvases and beg the viewer to linger.

These are cicada and stag beetle charms I designed in 2014 that were never produced. I have an opportunity in the next few days to get a small batch of these printed if there is sufficient interest. I would need at least 8 charms preordered to justify the production costs. Let me hear from you in replies or reblogs if this is something you would actually buy! I’ll put it in my shop over the weekend and accept preorders if there is a good response; otherwise, I’ll just focus on my existing projects.
The charms would be between 2-2.5″ in length and would cost between $8-10.
Okay! These are now up for preorders in my shop based on multi-site responses. I need to see at least 8 preorders of either/both charms combined this weekend. If the minimum is not met, all preorders will be refunded and production will be canceled. Go here!! http://marycapaldi.storenvy.com/products/9814678-cicada-and-stag-beetle-charms

If one could wield a brush on a molecular level, the outcome may resemble Hope’s stunning creations. Using molecular modeling software suites, he explodes the parameters and renders compounds both possible and not, creating densely layered, intensely colorful images that are packed with content which remains largely indecipherable.
