the idea that it’s ‘creepy’ to interact with things posted a long time ago is so terrible for artists and contributes to the pressure to be constantly creating new work, at an unhealthy and unsustainable rate. I hate it so much.

The idea that it’s “creepy” to interact with an artist’s old work from a while back is especially stupid since we have entire buildings filled with the old works of various artists for the explicit purpose of creating public interaction with them, and they’re called museums.

ok so, for the last few hours i've been making this code that organizes the colors in drawings:

(mostly @metukika's bc her works look really dope and i don't have many like that ;_;)

and these things feel like something that would be sold as a "deconstruction of classical paintings" like the "the kiss" by Klimt, "starry night" by Van Gogh or "Girl with a pearl earing" by vermeer

i can imagine going to an art gallery and finding stuff like this, made by someone who thinks they are so so smart

Ok but this is actually phenomenally cool OP, and a terrific tool for explaining some of the weirder aspects of color theory, especially how to translate color from traditional media to digital.

I'm working on the teaching plan for a digital painting class I'm going to pitch to my illustration school, and I was wondering if you had something I could use to show this concept to the class? (In exchange for full credit and money of course)

Hello! I love your art, especially the ninetails comics! Can I ask how you use the screentones you have digitally? They are very beautiful

Hey, thanks!

The tones are actually something that comes free with MediBang Paint Pro, the program I use.

So what ends up happening is I'll pick about 4-6 tones I want to use for any given comic and basically slap them down as separate layers.

And then, to make my life easier, I clip them to the layer BELOW, which is just empty until I begin to draw on it with white, which then shows up as me essentially painting with that screen pattern.

Kinda hard to see, but if I open up that layer it's just all the parts I need that screen on... painted in white.
