piper-writes:
to say that piper wasn’t excited about getting the opportunity to go on vacation after her summer had been very career focused would have been an understatement. however, she couldn’t quite tell anymore whether or not the excitement came from the chance to escape the confused british weather or if it was because of her travelling companion. when she first met artemis, she hadn’t considered him being a permanent fixture in her life. they had fun and got to know each other during spring break and she had assumed that was it and she was never to see him again unless it was in passing on campus but that wasn’t it at all. their friendship had only just begun. and just when she thought she had ruined their friendship by accepting the stupid dare, he never brought it up afterwards in fact, at that, he had initiated it more than once again. leaving piper confused as to where they stand because if she let him in, she could already smell the danger she would be in.
there was no ounce of regret in her mind when she sent over the flight details. her bags were more or less completely packed and she was just preoccupying herself with mundane tasks to pass the time. her apartment was cleaner than it has been ever before and she was sure not only her siblings but also her best friends were irritated with her from her fast flying consistent messages into their respective group chats. her sister had messaged her telling to stay safe to which her brother promptly concurred with and piper knew they weren’t talking exclusively about making sure she doesn’t get hurt or into trouble. promising the both of them to return unscathed, she finally put her phone down and wandered to get changed.
pulling up outside the apartment block she visited a few times since that fateful afternoon, she turned the car off and made for the entrance. it didn’t take long for her to enter the building and climb to reach his floor. piper wasn’t sure what she was expecting when she knocked on the door but the wide open arms were definitely a welcomed surprise. walking into them, not without rolling her eyes at the nickname he had coined for her first as she wrapped her arms around his waist. “morning goddess of war, are you ready to go because i’m so hyped,” the brunette greeted, a grin taking over her face as she began to let her excitement out. “The planes waiting for us though, grab your bags and to the bahamas we go!”
his eyes rolled at the brunette’s greeting but nonetheless gave her a squeeze when she had accepted his hug. releasing her with a laugh at her excitement, he quickly stopped himself before bringing his finger up to his lips, “my sister is asleep with classes tomorrow, hush little one,” he uttered quietly giving her side a small pinch before turning to grab the bags he had deposited by the front door, “yes princess i think i am, i’m ready for an adventure with you.” the words left artemis’ mouth before he could catch them, his movements freezing for a second before he made the decision to move them on quickly. ushering her out of the door so that he could turn and lock it. he took that time to reprimand himself, his jaw clenching before he released a deep sigh and turn back to her with a smile, “lead the way, ωραίος.”
his fingers were crossed that his little comment wouldn’t be addressed in the short walk to the car and he could almost hear the heavens opening and angels singing when the sight of her car parked right out front came into view from behind the complex doors. opening the door for her as his other hand gripped tightly onto his suitcase, they slipped out into the cool morning air, the sun had just about hit the horizon and was barely peeking the smallest amounts of soft warm orange rays that bled beautifully into the dark of the morning. artemis couldn’t help but think to himself how much beauty he truly was surrounded by and some of it wasn’t just mother nature around him but rather embodied into one being.
