Chanel x Arty Hats "The Chanel Hat" Ok. So this is a Throwback Thursday and a clarity post all in one. The Chanel hat gets so much love, and of course this is one of my favorites as well; however, this is also the most aggravating #artyhats for me. When I first started making #hats I came up with six concepts and I was going to build my collections based off of them. At that point I was trying to get into #artscape (Google it or click the hashtag) Thank God I didn't get in because I see now that it wasn't right for me at the time. One of my concepts I had was #Designer Hats. I was going to make a whole collection inspired by iconic designers. #Chanel of course, was one of them. So because I'm resourceful, I purchased a "Chanel" bag from the "Chanel" inspired store and deconstructed it. Afterward, a star was born. @b0ggerson was the first one to purchase this hat from me, and boy did he rock it and it made some cameos in his films (check him out). Since I made this in 2012 it has become harder for me to find this bag or fabric and pieces for it. I prefer to deconstruct the bag because it has all of the pieces I need in one versus purchasing everything I need from different sources. I constantly get emails about it so I'm trying to find a way to appeal to the masses. Back in January when I asked @aprildivahstyles what kind of hat she wanted for her #100knetworkingevent what do you think she told me she liked, #chanel. I had to deliver something so I made a variation of the original with the materials I had. I would've loved to make her a quilted leather version but the "Chanel" inspired store shut down and I didn't have enough time to order anything. She loved the one I made her and I have been receiving more emails about it ever since. So I say all that to say much like the Chanel store you are paying for exclusivity so if you want the Quilted Version of this hat I am firm to my price. However much like the "Chanel" Inspired store I still want to make something just as awesome and at a more affordable price. I started making party hats almost four years ago for my twin girls 1st Birthday. At the time, I didn't know that it would turn into what it is today. I started googling party ideas and then realized I could make everything myself. Being a single mother I have to cut corners where and when I can. The first two hats I made were epic, they weren't shitty they were great and the hats started taking off afterward. I have a BS degree in Graphic Design, I wanted to work for Vogue, but I'm blessed to be doing what I'm doing today and I love it. Every Arty Hat I create is made with Love!!!
