Hi! I started translating the French songs featured in the series to help everyone better understand the lyrics, but especially what they bring to the scenes.

I have seen several comprehension problems related to subtleties in translation. So here you go!

I have made 2 posts already talking about how biphobia is explored in the GC series.

Tbh I'd love for UR to complete Shane and Ilya trilogy by finally calling this discrimination by it's name.

Since Kyle seems to be the most knowledgeable regarding it, I'd love a scene when he call it out coming from a client (for example), telling Shane in front of Ilya that Ilya will leave him for a woman eventually anyway.

Can we talk about the fact that canon Hollanov should avoid doing everything together at all cost for both of their sakes?

Like. It is fun in fanfics. But for canon Shane and Ilya? Just after TLG? It's a receipe for disaster.

Shane needs to learn to separate his value from hockey, and Ilya, his own boundaries. And both of them need to develop better friendships. And to rely on properly on them.

Now that they will be with e/o all the time, spending time outside of their relationship will be very important to still be their own person. To learn to love themselves.

I kinda feel like by nerfing Ilya, the fandom is doing a great disservice to Shane’s biggest reason for being attracted to Ilya.

Ilya beat Shane at the draft by coming first. Ilya won the Stanly Cup before Shane.

Fucking hell, Ilya’s team beat Shane’s and qualified for the second round of playoffs, after almost three years of continues embarrassing loses against Montreal.

Shane is obsessed with Ilya because he is the only hockey player in the entire league who can actually beat him. It might not be obvious but Shane is a crazy fan of Ilya as much Ilya is of him.

And yes, Shane is with someone who is as good as him. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have been with Ilya in the first place.

In my head, Scott had send a text to Ilya beforehand to let them know they are welcome if they want. To which Ilya respond "of course, Scotty." "I shouldn't have let Eric contact you." "Too late 😈"

Ilya open the door for Shane and let him enter before him like the f*cking king he is for him... but don't join immediatly to embarrass him a bit 😈

Shane enters and is faced by a surprise Kyle who happen to have a tv behind him diffusing a commercial ft Shane.

Kyle double checks, smiles, and upon seeing Shane'd confusion -- where is Ilya dammit?! -- flirts right away "What can I offer you handsome?"

Shane flushes and wants to escape... while loving the attention. "Hum... I--No--I'm marri--A ginger beer please?"

Kyle looks behind Shane and shakes his head. He winks and teases: "Giving you that right away, married handsome boy~"

"Back off Kyle! Go sway Eric instead, we are not interested in an open relationship! Right, malysh?"

"Yeah--No, we're not! Where were you?"

"Don't tease him that way then, Ilya. Congrats on your wedding and sorry for your outing btw. Hockey players waiting for you guys in the back."

"Th-thank you... Kyle?"

"Yes, his name is Kyle. One dino for me, please. Let's go Hollander."

"A ginger beer and a Scott Hunter, omw! Last names? Kinky."

Can we talk again about how queer joy and hope are really needed right now? How the GC series, with all it's flaws, is oh so important for a lot of people?

The pride in Paris have been cancelled this weekend (third year in a row thar they were trying to do so, first year that they manage to do it) and people that dared to march have been repressed by policemen and threaten in order to make them hide their flags. A policeman told them "the repression time has come". In the US, trans people suicidal rate have gone up of 74% the past year. In oh so many countries, queer rights are disapearing.

A lot of people are scared in the world. A lot of queer people. Of POC people. Of disabled people. And so on.

But hope is a powerful thing. It makes joy possible. And it makes everything worth fighting for.

We need more HR. More hope. More joy. More pride.

And we need it now more than ever.

We shouldn't have to feel fear over being ourselves.

Don't forget that the closet kills too. It does so in silence. But it does.

And that's why it is one of the multiple topics that TLG explore.

Can we acknowledge, in this fandom, that selfishness and selflessness can go hand in hand? Just like maturity and immaturity aren't mutually exclusive?

Like. Being selfish can be adopting a dog w/o consulting your partner, or resenting your partner because they are no mind reader...

And being selfless can be willingly enduring your partner being pissed off, yet not willingly sharing the reason of his mood; it can also be being the brave one and confront him because you both need that for your relationship to carry on.

Maybe also -- just maybe -- maturity is a path as well as a quality.

Then being mature and immature at the same time, can be being selfless enough to change teams for your relationship because it's solving a specific issue, yet think it will magically solve all of them w/o you even be willing to talk about them (and yes, it's scary but you can be brave 🫂 it will pay off in the end).

But being mature and immature at the same time, can also be dismissing your partner's needs or not recognize what they sacrificed for you both but(!) apologizing and chosing to repare, learn from it, and move forward for the both of you (you were so brave 🫂).

Some tend to forget that growth take efforts. That communication does too. And that mistakes are needed for people to learn.

Life isn't easy folks.

Being really really really pissed by the "report" of Paris Pride and the cancellation of the Solidays festival (= a music festival that collect money for AIDs.)

They pretend it's due to the heatwave but they did nothing to help ACTUAL PEOPLE it for 2 weeks... and the POLICE put pressure on us to cancel and report the events.

They had already tried last year. The Pride had nearly been cancelled.

But they managed it today with the excuse of the climate change.

Come to think of it, it really is insane that my entire country is burning alive and literally no one in the rest of the world cares. A scene that I will miss from the books in s2 and s3 is Scott and Kip participating in a drag show 😒

It is in Common Goal, so it isn't likely to be adapted. But it was so funny! The only flaw of this scene is the fact that neither Ilya nor Shane are attending the event 😔 so they can't chirp Scott.

Don’t think too hard about loverboy Shane Hollander. Don’t think about him, full of relief and anticipation when Ilya walks calmly to him in the cottage and kisses the talk of wells right out of his mouth. Don’t think about him smiling and staring adoringly at Ilya beneath him on the couch, relaxing with him. Don’t think about him being determined to take his time, to not rush and fall into old habits. Don’t think about him settling in and stroking Ilya’s face, avoiding putting pressure on Ilya’s bruised ribs. Don’t think about him phrasing his idea to be honest with each other as this spontaneous revelation, rather than something he’s been thinking about and wanting. Because that’s it right? Yes he loves Ilya for who he is, but he also wants to know more, he wants it to be real. He doesn’t want a performance. He doesn’t want Ilya to just do what he thinks Shane wants. He wants to fall in love, and yes, they already are to a point, but Shane wants to do it right now, properly, in this space between the hectic hours they’ve spent together. He wants to relax with him. For once. Don’t think about it!!!

Gotta say it quick about Connor's appearance at the Paris fashion week... he did look great but the outfit was an horendious choice considering the weather this week in France.

The day the event happened it was 38°C / 100.4°F. A dry 38°C. Less than 10% of humidity.

Yesterday and today, we reached a pic in Paris at 41°C / 105.8°C. Nearly only in the Sahara desert is it hotter than in France right now.

But I'll say it too: Connor's situation made him lucky.

He was probably out for a few minutes then thrown into a taxi or a room and both were air-conditioned... still a bad choice to make him wear a PLASTIC COAT and VINYL BOOTS, but... a manageable one.

My flat do not have any air-con for instance like most of flats and houses in Paris. They are not build for heatwaves. But (most) company buildings have it so men in costumes can put a blazer on to hold their meetings. Which mean everyone else is freezing cold, getting sick or fainting when they leave their workplace because of the temperature shock (happened to 3 of my friends + me and we all are quite healthy.)

In a lot of subways, air-cor is inexistant or doesn't work because people open windows (a lot of men don't know how to find a good deodorant)... In 1 train, it went up to 55"C/ 1 31°F.

Like always, minorities are the first ones to endure this. Queers, POC, women...

So yeah. I'd love to be as lucky as he is now.

(He is an american actor so his situation is... unstable. But here he is lucky.)

I've been thinking about how Shane has his entire life under control. His career, his diet, his knowledge of the game, his captaincy, his public image—everything is carefully managed. He's the person everyone relies on, the one expected to have the answers and make the right decisions. Being with Ilya must be one of the few places in his life where he doesn't have to carry that responsibility. He can relax, let someone else take charge, and simply exist without having to be in control of every detail.

For Ilya, it's almost the exact opposite. He's living in a country that still isn't fully his own, speaking a language that isn't the one he grew up with, and separated from his family. Even if they were nearby, they're the authority figures in his life, not people he can direct or control. Then Shane comes along and willingly puts his trust in him, handing over the reins without hesitation. For perhaps the first time, Ilya has someone who looks at him and says, I trust you. You decide.

Of course they're a match. They're solving opposite problems. Shane finds relief in surrendering control, while Ilya finds confidence in being given it. They're opposite sides of the same coin, each giving the other exactly what they've been missing.

Can we talk about the fact that both Shane and Ilya face a situation where they thought the other will leave them (and/or never come back to them) because the other dated/could date a woman? How they both believed their gay relationship was less important than a straight one? And how it is still a huge thing in queer experiences?

What I find interesting is the fact that they BOTH experience this type of internalized homophobia (+ the impacts of hetero-normativity). But only Shane is seen as needing protection from it by others -- thank you Yuna and Hayden -- because of Ilya's bisexuality.

(Yes, it doesn't help that Ilya doesn't let people in easily but there is some isolation that can come along w/ expressed biphobia.)

It is those behaviors (+ the pressures he face to perform "straight manly" for the sake of Metros), that entitle Shane later on to express his jalousy toward every person that is closed to Ilya -- even toward a porn star. To the point where Ilya cannot even have friends... which is biphobic because it leads the bisexual partner to endure isolation because of their orientation.

Like every discrimination, biphobia is a system. But it's a layer on top of homophobia.

So we say thank you RR for bringing it to us quite realistically.

And thank you to the complexity of homophobia and biphobia that fucks queer people brains enough that we don't even trust our own partner(s) 🙃

No one is immune to discriminate someone else. No one. But you gotta own your mistakes and be willing to move in the right direction. Like Shane Hollander.

For me, Troy, Ilya and Shane end up on a parade float Special Hockey PlayersTM for Pride.

... Unfortunately for Scott (and Eric), they end up on the same one as the russian menace. (I know they are not in the same cities but still!) Even more unfortunate for Scott, he had been programmed to join a drag queen show by the end of the parade, and now Ilya knows it....

The rest is up to you 🫡

i think my favorite thing about shane hollander is that he knows that vulnerability is so so so often punished. and yet he goes ahead and tries it with ilya anyway, offers his beating heart out, lets his soft underbelly show and bares his neck, and ilya could bite. he puts his teeth around him. but he doesn't hurt him, not really. and then more and more ilya sees how brave it is and decides that shane gets to see it too.

I'd prefer queer hosted ones (tried a few from cis straight people but, except from K! Let's talk, yeah no, most of the time they are not for me).
