Soryu X Asami Voltage Secret Santa
I had intended to post this when it was midnight on Christmas for you but I miscalculated the hours and I’m an hour behind >.<
It was a blast being your secret santa and getting to know you a better! I hope we can talk more in the future now that I dont have to hide behind an anon heh.
But without further ado… PLEASE ENJOY YOUR GIFT!
"Thank you Miss, have a good holiday!“
Asami smiled back at the clerk and accepted the ribbon-tied shopping bag from her hands. She waved back at the clerk again as she left the store and headed outside to the frost-ridden streets.
Brrrrrr! Asami shivered, and pulled her scarf up to cover her chin. After readjusting her grip on the shopping bag with a gloved hand, she headed towards the train station.
She reached the train station and scanned the crowd before spotting the familiar tall, dark hair she knew so well. "Soryu!” Asami cried out, and waved in his direction.
He blinked a few times, with a blank look on his face, confused, before noticing her waving.
"Sorry,“ Asami apologized as Soryu got closer, "I hope you haven’t been waiting for too long.”
He shook his head slowly, “No no—Not at all.”
Soryu fell silent, and Asami could see him looking at her expectantly. What’s that look for? She felt a flush rise in her cheeks from his intense gaze. Oh! Asami realized Soryu was waiting for her to say something.
"Are you ready?“ She asked.
He extended his hand to her, and Asami’s heart raced as she slowly fitted her hand in his large one. Warmth radiated up from his palm and over her fingers as they walked side-by-side holding hands. When she looked up at him, she only saw Soryu’s serious profile as he looked straight ahead of them. She wrapped her fingers tighter in his and smiled, happy as his shoulder brushed against their as they walked down the decorated street.
"Here,“ Soryu stopped in front of a restaurant, "After you.”
Wow, Asami thought, when they entered the restaurant, He picked this? As Soryu told the host of their reservation, and led her to a back table, Asami couldn’t help but admire the decadent atmosphere and food.
"Pick anything you want,“ He said, as she opened up the menu.
Just as she was deciding what she wanted, Soryu’s phone went off. He pulled it from his pocket, and without checking the caller name switched it off.
Soryu stared at her with a blank look, “Yeah, why would I answer the phone right now?”
"But you didn’t check, what if it’s an emergency?“
"It’s just Inui probably asking where I am right now,” He explained, “But I don’t really want him following me on our date.”
He wants it to just be the two of us, she thought. Asami’s heart fluttered and she couldn’t stop the happiness from tugging at the corners of her lips. She tried making small chat with Soryu, but he was being quiet as usual. The look on his face is softer than when we first met, She noticed. Yes he was still a little standoffish and quiet, but his eyes seemed gentler, and less scary.
“I got something for you,” Asami said, and retrieved the gift bag from below her chair.
Soryu’s eyes widened slightly as the brightly wrapped bag landed on the table in front of him. His blank look fell on Asami, as if to say, For me? Her lips twitched into a smile and she nodded.
Hesitantly, he untied the ribbon, and it slipped off, falling beside his plate. The tissue crinkled loudly as Soryu searched through the layers, before pulling out the shining silver watch.
"I—um, thought it would suit you,“ Asami said quickly, beginning to feel embarrassed the longer he stared at the gift silently.
"Thank you—” Soryu said quietly, as his eyes stayed transfixed on the watch. He snapped open the clasp and draped it across his wrist, before finally looking up at her.
Asami’s heart thudded in her chest at his soft gaze. His gentle dark eyes didn’t look away from her.
"Here.“ He roughly placed a small wrapped box in front of her.
Asami blinked, "Is this for me?”
With shaking, hesitant fingers, she undid the ribbon and slipped the box open to reveal a dazzling blue-stoned necklace. Her mouth fell open into a soft ‘O’ as the light glinted off the silver pendant.
"It’s beautiful,“ She whispered softly.
Soryu’s hands lifted the necklace from its place in the box. "May I?” He asked, his gentle voice washing over her cheeks as she nodded, blushing. The tips of his fingers brushed her neck as he fastened the clasp of her Christmas gift.
"Merry Christmas, Asami,“ Soryu’s husky voice whispered at her ear.
