The way I think about RC members and their past stories might have to do some take with the concept of being a āhero.ā
Stories like Amal who took care women and children survivors in West Block speaks on heroism ā a savior.
Stories like Torey who touched on a desire to move forward to right the wrongs speaks on heroism ā justice.
Stories like Shion who welcome, learn, and utilize change to make a difference to the world speaks on heroism ā a fate changer
Stories like Ruka who broke barriers climbed and the top against hardship speaks to heroism ā persistence
Stories like Lana who exhibit cheeriness and energy within uncertainty speaks to heroism ā bright
I havenāt really thought of more, but I do think Restructural Committee are like fragments of heroes. Each one represents a quality that is synonymous or characteristically a āheroā, but I do like to think there is still an existing abnormality or imperfect element that actually makes the heroism in them more complicated, maybe haha.
Twins Shion AU where Anime!Shion is the younger twin with red eyes and works at the bakery alongside Karan while Novel!Shion with purple eyes and works in RC. Personality-wise, I think that Anime!Shion has like a spark into him but also doesn't want to be associated with danger yet (much more serious, but also much more outspoken) while Novel!Shion is a bit more reserved but he smiles more than Anime!Shion (the questionable part about him is purely his work but overall he's pretty normal-ish, unintentional rage-baiter).
They are both born with brown hair, but Anime!Shion bleached his hair first because he doesn't want to associate himself with the questionable things Novel!Shion does, but then Novel!Shion bleaches his hair as well for a mission -- so really who is winning here.
The original idea here is that I was thinking if Anime!Nezushi is like an ongoing development while Novel!Nezushi is something established like Novel!Shion going "you'll be fine (voice echoes with 99% confidence)" to Anime!Shion's crush or crash out dilemma with Anime!Nezumi. The funny thing is that it'll be fun if the Nezumis are not related at all, but like - "that's the one I keep seeing in the next door park!"
SPOILERS FOR NO.6 REUNION VOL 2 (less about the actual content, but just like a hypothetical scenario that is compliant with what is introduced in Reunion 2)
Restructural Committee + Delusional Thinking
RC posting but now that I think about it, the mole narrative that there might be a mole within RC is actually pretty funny even if I don't really believe it. The reason is because that kind of plot line is an opportunity to see RC's argumentative skills and/or how long does it take for them to sell out the other.
Granted that they *kind of* tolerate each other since they are working together for so long, but that's the thing -- it's like how much effort does it take for them to make a good argument about either them being innocent or pulling one into the mess and branding that one as the "criminal". Not to mention that actually, the chances of Shion being 'the mole' is not high but never zero - in the circumstances of the story: my assumption is that if there is a company/body that is highly involved with government works and supervision, there is also an assumption that the people at the top - who are directly involved in government affairs - are most likely to be suspected. Yet I do think that in the case for Shion, he's like an "invisible" figure within the discussion since I think RC has some level of respect to Shion that they wouldn't consider him until someone pointed that one. Then again, I think it's hilarious for Shion to go another round of interrogation from "No.6" after the old No.6 branded him as a criminal (something that Nishata and Lana can relate haha maybe).
I can imagine unsurprisingly, Yoming might be the person who is like "wait, nobody didn't say if the Chairman is a possible candidate" and then everyone else is like "...oh yeah..!" and then Shion just side-eye in such a *stunned* matter like "oh wow, you guys actually remembered me, that's crazy."
Also I'm kinda intrigued of the possibilities about who is entertained about the idea of being a mole (nudging Nishata, Lana, and Torey) because yeah that kind of implies the perception that most of RC has on them actually -> thrilling character study.
The moment I remembered that Nezumi built the tiny mice and the distraction bomb things, I am now sold to the engineer Nezumi agenda. I think it is very underrated view maybe?? Engineer Nezumi grinds my gears (haha, pun intended) like outside of the personality traits including meticulous and analytical, I also think that it does something about Nezumi skills in making incredible use out of the scraps he has been living on.
But also I really want to manifest a space engineer Nezumi AU.
[NO.6 R2 + BEYOND META] RC might be the vehicle for Shion to embrace what being a "Monster" is
āShion, you have potential to be a leader like no other. I, or even that mayor, couldnāt compare. Someday, youāll try to dominate over all, try to have everything within your grasp. Youāll reign as a cold, ruthless, and exceedingly good dictator.ā -- Yoming. Beyond, Shion's Days, Part 3. Nostalgia on the 9th Avenue.
I just want to preface that everything here I say is way before any possible new Restructural Committee content produced past Reunion Vol 2. I also want to say that everything that I say here is 1. biased and 2. delusionally-driven with a few descriptive sentence and memory of Reunion Vol 2. Also this is a very unhinged theory as we go so is this serious?? Sure, but in an unserious way.
Shion has a very complicated relationship as a new Chairman for the established Restructural Committee. More than 2 years past, with new people coming in, and old people coming out - Shion, since Beyond, challenged himself to not overstep his boundaries as a Chairman, person who witnessed West Block, heard the stories of the Forest People, and lived in the walls of No.6. A pretty hefty task for a person who turned 18 and already had huge responsibilities on his back.
The thing here is that, sometimes Shion does slip out of those boundaries. From kicking Yoming out with semi-lucky guess and no concrete evidence in Beyond to somewhat scheming alongside Torey to trap the gold smugglers in Reunion 1 (I don't remember this part too well, please correct!), Shion used 1000% of his wit to protect No.6 from being the No.6 in the past. Still, in the back of his mind, Shion still contemplates his actions - as he take accountability of his mistakes by reconciling with Yoming in Reunion 2.
Still, these worries eats his mind. In some ways, Shion might still worry that he will become the monster that he vowed to avoid - like those rulers of No.6 from before.
What does that leave us? Enters the heads of the committees in Restructural Committee.
Torey, Amal, Yoming, Nishata, Ason, Luna, Kihou, and let's add Ruka here too (iirc she's not actually a head of a committee but she still serve an important role in the Security Bureau I think).
All RC members had escaped No.6 clutches in some way, all of them went through some fucked-up shit in some way or the other. Torey's parents resisted the government without his knowing, his mom got executed. Luna and Nishata were jailed at some point by No.6. Amal risked her life to protect West Block woman and children from malicious attacks including No.6. The important thing is that all of them didn't quit at that point. Ruka, after the Hunt killed her parents, didn't stop becoming in RC. Yoming, fucked up is it can be, carried his wife's words and led a revolution and still went back to RC.
The thing about RC is that they are so fucked up, together and individually. The thing here is that almost all of RC are fucked up and they try to live despite all odds ā despite what No.6 destroyed from them. And then they go back, and they try to rebuild the things within their power and place. I think that this, added with their own maturity, really is going to transform what being a monster means for Shion
Itās not so that Shion is going to definitely fuck up, but to see another āthird viewā ā to be alive despite it all with a very fucked up but so so human perspective.
And RC is going to be such a great yet delusional story perspective of that human nature.
Restructural Committee idea where they do that one āAssassination Classroomā episode where they try to eliminate each other using their skills + camouflaging in the environment + use fake weapon of their choice which includes a paint gun and those fake knives used in the anime. The difference is that all of them go solo and they have to face like each other all alone. Who ever gets eliminated last would get to go home earlier for the next week and all of nine of them are some form of competitive š
No.6 Reunion2 spoilers, but not meta talk - only AU
Villain Shion (main antagonist?) with RC as his lackeys (or cabinet) versus Nezumi, the hero, and his crew that he invited across his journey to defeat the main Villains and to save the nation! - an adventurous, comedic immersive game
Nezumi as a hero will be so funny because it's like he doesn't have that kind of inspiration but maybe there's a 'wise word'/stoyteller that pushes him to be in the 'hero' role (like Hermes in Hadestown - the narrator of the story). I would hc that this storyteller is the Elyurias to 'pass the torch' to Nezumi in world-saving duties
Elyurias: take this *throws a claymore*
Nezumi: ??!!?
Nezumi's crew are Inukashi (merchant of rare magical beings), Safu (ex-friend of Shion, freelance detective), and Rikiga (third-rate newspaper editor).
Shion is the main villain for this series. He actually doesn't have any malicious intent but also he would like to entertain this 'hero' or at least get to meet Nezumi in person. Although he is the most powerful person in his setting, his lackeys (RC) are older than him and keep him in check whenever Shion went too far. RC also trains Shion to gain more control in his abilities, particularly Yoming and Amal. Ruka and Torey are Shion's trusted mentors...or, lackeys.
I truly think Nishata and Yoming will be a disastrous duo because although theyāre both attached or associated with their loved ones so significantly, Yoming is more grief laced with guilt while Nishata is more disgust mixed with anger. Feeling that their conversation might stem from their other significant other might be tough if they hit a sensitive angle - but otherwise, their situations can be easily understood and valid.
Wait Iām going back to the monster/human trip ough but now I finally see this refined to Nezushi now
Nezumi: born as a monster, raised as a human (individuals who were gifted a beyond exceptional depth and ranged of skills that can be considered beyond human. But also Nezumi was gradually come to acceptance of his physical limitations and then learn acceptance of emotional limitations along the way)
Shion: born as a human, raised as a monster (individuals who are generally have the comfort of their humanity had to accept the things they do. But as Shion hit some motivational button or a ābreaking/climatical pointā, he gradually seek the knowledge and physical opportunities that grants them to go beyond human limitations)
These are very enstars term but then itās also a little bit of canon and indulgence hit too like imo Nezumi comes to attach towards Shionās more human qualities versus Shion grows slight bitter (desire to reach out?) at Nezumiās monster qualities.
Need to see them fight where Nezumi successfully blocks Shionās attack but then he saw the colors in Shionās eyes just fueled with determination and excellence, Nezumi also get thrilled - his smile grows larger and more āsatisfiedā , ābrilliantā a breathe comes out Nezumi.
