Please support aros in romantic relationships!!! As an aro who is very in love with my girlfriend I don't see a lot of support for aces/aros in relationships and it sucks. We're still ace/aro regardless of our relationship status 💜🖤💚

happy ace week babes. here’s an ace knight that lives to fuck up aphobes 💜
I cant believe asexuals officially own Halloween
Ace week 2020 is october 25-31st
I mean our flag matches the Halloween Aesthetic™ so it’s about time tbh.
Here y’all go, a Halloween themed ace flag I made for fun a couple days ago
Let’s talk about the fabulous aromantics out there
a lot of the posts online about asexuality emphasize that sex isn’t necessary for happiness and fulfillment in a relationship, which is true, but there is a large portion of the asexual community that does have and like sex, which is important, too.
asexuality is a lack of sexual attraction, not necessarily the repulsion of sex. many asexuals have sex in order to please their partner, have children, or because they like it. you are no less asexual for not being sex-repulsed.
it’s ok to never want anything to do with sex! it’s ok to be indifferent about sex! it’s ok to love sex! none of these make you any more or less asexual.
Pages 52, 53, 54, 55, and 56 all at once!!! Whaaat?!
this will probably never happen again
Ooh this is sweet
Wow, this was actually really helpful for helping me understand demisexuality more. I never really got it before but now I feel like I know a bit more about it, thanks OP.
It’s OK if you’re not sure if you have issues with romance or sex, or if you’re just a-spec. Or if it’s a mix of the two.
Your value doesn’t lie in how attractive other people find you.
It’s OK if different types of attraction are jumbled up for you. It’s OK if you’re not sure what type of attraction or attractions you’re experiencing.
If you’ve already come out to people, you’re still allowed to come out again as something different. Sometimes labels change, sometimes multiple labels apply. Identity is never written in stone.
I want do to romantic things with people just because I would receive attention then... Am I still valid? I labeled myself as 'aro' and I really feel this is where I am.
Yeah definitely. There’s a lot of reasons someone who is aromantic may still want or enjoy doing romantic things, exactly the same way someone can be asexual but still want/enjoy sex. It can be fun, you can like the attention, etc.
Cupioromantic might be a useful label to check out too if you’re interested. It was coined specifically for aromantic people who want romance/a romantic relationship.
All the best!
It’s OK to go with a best guess when figuring out labels. It’s OK to pick a label that’s close enough.
Any type of attraction can be really intense or really weak. The same person can experience different types of attraction at different intensities.
Heya! I'm aromantic, but growing up I always liked the idea of a fairy tail ending. Spouse, children, pets, whatever. So when I found out I was aromantic, I felt crushed, and spent many years mourning the absence. (And I know aromantic people can still have relationships but just the idea of being in one and doing romantic stuff makes my stomach churn.) Basically, I want to say something that I needed to hear back then. It's alright to feel that way. Plenty do. You, and your feelings, are valid.
Very well said, Anon.
can aros get married? (aromantic)
Yeah, absolutely. Some aros still enjoy having romantic relationships, even if they don’t have romantic attraction, and may marry those partners. Some aros also get married to their QPPs (queerplatonic/quasiplatonic partners), and some marry platonic friends.
Marriage isn’t for all aros, but some want to get married or do get married.
All the best!
You can be aromantic without being asexual. Aromantic as an identity can exist on its own or be paired with other sexual orientations.
